Reviews for The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel

Beautifully renovated building in a central location.

A warm and inviting hotel that has been in operation since the early 1900s. Located conveniently close to Union Square with easy access to most attractions. Our room was a corner suite which was generous in size, clean and beautifully renovated. The only minor gripe was the glazing could have been a little better on noise prevention. Front desk staff were friendly with checkin and checkout being seamless. We were able to leave our large bags for a few days before checkin for a short trip without a problem. Door staff were always welcoming and had good knowledge of local dining options. The attached restaurant was good for breakfast - avocado on toast and a latte. You can’t go wrong. The grand bar room is most definitely worth a visit. Chatty mixologist on hand to recommend a great cocktail. Thankyou Team Clift Royal for a wonderful stay in San Francisco.

Good Hotel, Good Location

A very nice hotel in the central Union Square neighborhood. Easy access to Mission St. cable cars and trams, lots of restaurants and entertainment within walking distance. Breakfast service is good, but runs out of muffins early. Clift Royal Sonesta needs more muffins.

A wonderful experience as always, they always are professional and courteous and I will continue to make this my hotel choice while in San Francisco, and thank you for welcoming our pet!

Great location, staff, and room!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Conveniently located in Union Square. We stayed in room 1431, which had two double beds, was very clean, and offered a beautiful view. We loved the size of the room, and the staff was excellent. The beds and pillows were incredibly comfortable! The gym was decent—enough for a good workout—and the attached restaurant served delicious breakfast options. My only minor issues were that the bathroom was a bit small, the walls were a little thin, and I wish there had been more outlets in convenient places. Otherwise, everything else was fantastic!

Great overall watch out for restaurant issues

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Hotel was excellent overall. Room was very nice, quiet, good bed, strong wifi, nice shower. The main downside of this place is the prices in the restaurants. Not only insanely expensive but also sneaky - I ordered a breakfast sandwich at the walk-up register and they added a $6 "service charge" without my knowledge, permission, or any disclosure.
