Our March 2026 Bay Area crawl was equal parts reunion, nostalgia, and indulgence: visiting dear friends and family, slipping back into familiar rhythms, and revisiting the places and landscapes that once felt like second nature. We started with the Hotel Drisco, Pacific Heights, San Francisco. We began in Pacific Heights, and Hotel Drisco was exactly the right opening note: elegant, quiet, and deeply self-assured. What I have always appreciated about the Drisco is that it does not confuse luxury with excess. The property feels intimate and cultivated, with that understated San Francisco polish that suggests good bones, impeccable upkeep, and a staff that knows how to anticipate rather than hover. In a neighborhood of grand homes, leafy streets, and a certain old-money composure, the hotel feels perfectly situated—almost as though you are staying in a particularly well-run private residence rather than a conventional hotel. The hotel highlights its complimentary gourmet continental breakfast and evening wine reception, while outside reviewers specifically note the California wine, artisanal cheese and charcuterie, hot hors d’oeuvres, and breakfast scones with lemon curd and clotted cream. And the customized omelletes - personalized perfection. The staff was wonderful. Because we were only there one night, the Drisco felt less like a stopover and more like a soft landing. I can easily imagine us lingering over the breakfast buffet with fruit, pastries, and one last cup of coffee before heading south, or enjoying the evening reception with a glass of California wine after walking the neighborhood and admiring the architecture. Pacific Heights has always invited that kind of mood—civilized, scenic, and slightly removed from the city’s noisier edges—and the Drisco understands that rhythm beautifully. It is the kind of place that makes a brief stay feel complete.

Hotel Drisco is the kind of place that feels polished, quiet, and genuinely refined. Set in Pacific Heights, it gives you a very different San Francisco experience than staying downtown — more residential, more elegant, and honestly a little more relaxing. The hotel itself feels intimate and thoughtfully done, and the neighborhood around it is beautiful to walk through. It’s a great base if you want to experience a more classic, upscale side of the city. If you appreciate boutique hotels with charm and a strong sense of place, Hotel Drisco is a really appealing option.

Had a great experience at the Hotel Drisco. Rooms are very elegantly appointed and are very quiet. Great mattress and pillows. Bulgari ammeneties are great. Filtered water and bottles are complementary. Very clean room with maid service twice daily. Love the cookie at turndown service. The staff is very accomdating and will help you with anything you need. What is really amazing is the included breakfast and happy hour. For breakfast you can have smoked salmon, fruit, oatmeal, cereal, pastries, breads and eggs any way you like them which are excellent. For happy hour they have some very nice hor h'oeuvres such as meat, cheese smoked salmon, nuts, breads, hummas, guacamole, too many things to mention. Coffee and tea are always available in the lobby. A great location within walking distance to the Presidio. Great quiet neighborhood. An excellent hotel for San Francisco.

We spent 5 nights at the Drisco. Even though it was a return visit for us, we found that many changes (all good) had occurred in the years since we last visited. Our room was on the first floor and while it lacked "a view" it was spacious and very quiet at night. The hotel is a beautiful and gracious place. Staff are responsive to questions and gave us helpful advice. The breakfasts were superb! The buffet items are very fresh and the made-to-order eggs never disappointed. The two-hour evening wine and heavy hors d'oeuvres were incredible! In fact, there were times when we had big lunches and so cancelled our dinner reservations and had a light supper at the hotel. The hotel also has a very nice Room Service menu. If you're around at 3 p.m. they put out freshly made biscotti in the Sitting Room. I loved the chocolate biscotti, but the lemon biscotti were very good too. Bathroom amenities were top notch. I was initially intimidated by the Dyson hairdryer but quickly became a fan. We slept very well as our bedding was perfect. If we're able to visit San Francisco again, we will definitely return to The Drisco.

Beautiful, small and friendly hotel in the best spot in San Francisco. The rooms are perfect, every detail has been thought of. The staff are very helpful, the breakfasts are delicious and their welcome evening drink is better than eating out. It’s easy to get around SF and the view and park next door make it unbeatable. I hope to return soon.

Not only was the Hotel Drisco luxurious, the service was impeccable, the suite was absolute luxury (we didn't want to leave the room!), the breakfasts were fantastic, and the afternoon wine gatherings were superb. Luxury does not begin to describe the experience. The only drawback is that I now will never want to stay anywhere else in San Francisco.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Drisco and it was one of the most enjoyable stays I've ever had at a hotel. This extremely quaint hotel is located on a beautiful street and the hotel staff was particularly nice. The next time I'm in San Francisco, I'll be staying at the Drisco a hotel that captures the grace and charm of Europe.
