Definitely wish we could have a re-do on choosing a place because it definitely wouldn’t be this one. First we booked a queen room but it was so noisy it sounded as though we were on the street. We began to unpack some and as we did my sinuses became swollen, suddenly I was sneezing uncontrollably, nose completely stuffed up, and my eyes were itchy. My partner had the same issue though their reaction was less severe; we realized there was a smell housekeeping sprayed that clung to the wallpaper and fabrics. It was so strong, like a very unnatural floral smell. We called and the gentleman who answered was very kind and attentive, he moved us to a Double which we accepted. This one did not have wallpaper and no additional fabrics outside of what was on the bed/frame, so the smell was more subtle. I purchased antihistamine and we ran an epsom salt bath which diffused the remaining smell. I think the other room with all of the fabrics and such held onto the smells in a way this other room did not. The room was not much more quiet however, and we couldn’t run the a/c because this portion of the outdoors smelled strongly of urine which blew back into the room. Sleeping hot was rough. You can hear the noise outside and that of your hotel neighbors, including upstairs footsteps. The pillows are absolutely awful. Flat and quite old which creates pressure in any sleeping position rather than alleviates it. This place is clean inside. Staff is kind. These two things don’t make up for the rest.

We love the hotel. We stayed in a room with a king bed and a pullout sofa. At a large bathroom and a fireplace. It was just very nice. The staff that we interacted with at the front desk was always very helpful.

I had a mixed experience during my stay at the Hotel Majestic. Pros: Large room and bathroom, clean, and great value for the price. Beautiful historic building in a convenient central location. Continental breakfast was decent, though basic. Cons: The bed (mattress and linens) was very uncomfortable, and temperature control was a challenge. Heat is centrally controlled and the window AC unit didn’t work well, making the room too hot for good sleep. Breakfast could also use more variety—especially fruit and hot options like bacon or sausage. Overall: great space and location, but comfort—especially sleep quality—needs improvement.

The hotel is decorated to the period of construction with lavish style drapes etc . We had a most enjoyable stay with a comfortable room , complimentary breakfast and tea , coffee , water and biscuits for the taking in the foyer . The position was good for exploring and exercise as is in San Francisco. Most of all the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly being very accommodating to our requests . Special mention to Jay, Maria and Manoj !

Old hotel. Small rooms. Furniture dated. Reasonable price for location. Safe location for San Francisco. Only fair breakfast.
