Solid family friendly hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Feels new, great location, spacious suites, furniture is surprisingly toddler friendly-low lying, and mostly no sharp edges, we got two suites for us, 2 young kids, and grandparents, one was larger. Water pressure could use some improvement, for both the showers and the toilets. In room breakfast was delicious.

Jenna and Katherine Make Every Stay Special

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

After more than a dozen stays over the past year, The Jay Hotel has truly become my home away from home! The location and views are unbeatable, but what keeps me coming back is the incredible team, especially Jenna and Katherine. Jenna and Katherine greet me as if I'm family. They are genuinely warm, thoughtful, and consistently go above and beyond to make every stay exceptional. As a Marriott Ambassador Elite member, I stay at a lot of hotels, and personalized service like this is incredibly rare. At this point, I consider them friends. They remember my favorite rooms, review my reservation in advance, and do everything they can to accommodate my preferences, including room upgrades whenever possible. They always remember the little things, like making sure I have extra blankets and towels, arranging thoughtful room amenities, and even leaving handwritten notes welcoming me back "home." Those personal touches mean so much and make every visit feel special. They've also helped when my father stayed with me, ensuring our rooms were close together, and they've assisted with everything from large formal dinner reservations to casual late brunches with friends. When I check out, I always stop by the front desk to say goodbye. They know I'm local, and more than once they've sent me on my drive home with cookies and bottled water, which always makes my long drive so much better. It's such a small gesture, but it's representative of how genuinely they care about their guests. Beyond Jenna and Katherine, everyone at The Jay Hotel is friendly, welcoming, and professional. The hotel feels incredibly safe, and I love the views of North Beach, the Embarcadero, and the bay. I've stayed at many Marriott properties around the world, and The Jay Hotel continues to stand out because of its people. Jenna and Katherine are professional, organized, incredibly knowledgeable about the hotel and its rooms, and consistently go above and beyond to make every stay feel effortless. I hope they receive the recognition they so richly deserve.

Beautiful Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Visited the Jay Hotel over Fourth of July weekend and had an overall great stay. The hotel is very modern, and I absolutely loved the decor, atmosphere, and overall vibe. Everything was exceptionally clean, and the rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and well maintained. The location is also excellent and made it easy to explore San Francisco. The only downside was the service at the third-floor restaurant. Even though it was at very low occupancy, we waited about 25 minutes to be seated for brunch as hotel guests. After being seated, no one came to our table for around 20 minutes until we flagged down our waiter just to place our order. He brought our menus and took our order, but we still didn't receive water until nearly 40 minutes later after reminding him twice. After that, we hardly saw him again until it was time to pay the bill. The hotel itself was fantastic, and I'd absolutely stay here again because the rooms, cleanliness, design, and overall experience were excellent. I just hope the restaurant service improves, as it didn't match the high standard set by the rest of the hotel.

Very Worn but Clean and Great Views

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We were a bit surprised at how worn and beat up the hotel was since we thought it had recently been extensively renovated. The carpets were especially worn and old. At the same time, it was super clean, the location was good for our purposes and the beds seemed newer and were very comfortable. We had a great view and no issues with the elevators that others have mentioned so perhaps they fixed that. Overall it was good but not as upscale and new as we expected for the price point and it does not look like it underwent a substantial renovation only a few years ago. It looks like they probably just replaced the furniture. Be aware that overnight parking is valet only and it's currently $91/night with tax. There is self parking a couple of blocks away but it's cobblestones and not great if you have a bunch of luggage so be ready for the big price tag. The valet service itself was good.

Thank You Jenna

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Jenna was extremely kind and helpful. Just what I needed for a one night stay. Wasn’t pleased with my original room so she was kind enough to show me few other options and recommended me the perfect room. Because of her I was able to enjoy my trip. Thank you so much Jenna
