The Jay, Autograph Collection

We had an amazing stay at The Jay in San Francisco! The hotel is modern, beautifully designed, and exceptionally clean. We were celebrating our daughter’s birthday, and the staff went above and beyond to make it special. They surprised the kids with a charcuterie spread and provided champagne for my wife and me—such a thoughtful touch that we really appreciated. The gym was also amazing and had all the equipment I needed for a great workout, which was a huge plus during our stay. Everyone we interacted with, from the valet and front desk to the room service team, was friendly, helpful, and professional. The service really made the experience feel special. We would definitely stay at The Jay again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a modern, clean hotel with excellent service in San Francisco!

I thought I was going to write a great review! I was looking for an alternative business hotel in SF because my usual location was booked, and stayed two nights at The Jay in early September 2026. The room was comfortable, stylish and clean. But then I got wrongly charged for minibar usage, and I've written them four separate times to ask that the charge be removed, and it has been nothing but crickets. I used the template "Contact Us" interface, and also the email address on the website. I did not consume anything whatsoever from the minibar, and have no idea what this charge is about. I don't like to have to dispute a charge with the credit card company, but if the hotel refuses to respond to correspondence I don't know what else to do.

An Incredible Stay at the Jay in San Francisco I would give the Jay in San Francisco five out of five. Its location is absolutely incredible, making it easy to walk to Chinatown and Fisherman’s Wharf. It is also a quick Uber ride to many of San Francisco’s historic and popular attractions, including the Golden Gate Bridge and Ghirardelli Square. The hotel itself is located in a beautiful, historic building that has been very well maintained. The facilities were clean and pleasant, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We did experience a few minor issues with the room, but nothing significant enough to detract from the overall experience. The best part of the Jay is truly its location. It made exploring San Francisco convenient and enjoyable, whether we were walking to nearby neighborhoods or taking a short ride to other attractions. I cannot rave enough about how well situated this hotel is. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would gladly recommend the Jay to anyone visiting San Francisco.

The hotel itself is nice but service is very lacking. Make sure to double check your bill before leaving. They messed up quite a few times: 1. Charged for water bottle when 1 was missing in the room (I let the front desk know when checking out but still got charged) 2. Got charged $100 which is more than the $91 24-hour rate for parking for a car that was parked for 3 hours 3. Amex platinum credit of $100 and the free breakfast not applied until I asked 4. I filled out beforehand (day before and emailed beforehand too) a credit card authorization form so that my in-laws would NOT have to pay for anything- the room, parking etc. They still got charged and I had to go back and double check to make sure the charge would come off their card. When I went to double check since my in-laws saw it as an auth on their statement, I was given a snarky response that it's an authorization charge. Didn't appreciate the tone and it's not like I didn't work/ know payments. Could have been handled differently 5. Took forever for our car to come (we waited 30 minutes and used the text feature) Went for my wedding and won't be recommending this hotel until they get it right. Was hoping for minimal stress especially on an already stressful weekend.

We loved staying here. Beautiful hotel in a perfect location. We could walk to many places. Definitely will be back.
