Showstopping View

The parking garage was not available with the size of our vehicle (height restriction), so we had to park about ten minutes away and walk back to the hotel. The Jay Doorman Bryner Bustos was such a calm presence after that hectic introduction to the hotel. He was helpful bringing up our bags and showing us where everything in the room was located. I hope the hotel can give him a commendation of some sort! Our room was modern and comfortable with an incredible floor-to-ceiling view of the Christmas lights on the Embarcadero Center buildings, the Sales Force Tower, and the bay bridge! We had a late snack at the cozy bar while a fun surprise party was happening. Great stay overall!

Wanted to love this hotel, but ...

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

My partner and I stayed over just for a day this weekend - and we found ourselves being disappointed on multiple fronts. Katherine at the front desk was lovely and put us in a really great corner room with a great view, but upon room inspection we found some leftovers (cheese, pies?) in the hotel's fridge. We left for the day and gave the front desk a heads up, expecting it to be cleared out ASAP. We returned, it was (frustratingly) still there, and my partner went downstairs to tell them that the fridge was still dirty. They said they will send someone up. No one came up. We went to our night event, returned at 11pm - still there. Not really excusable at this point. We went to The Third Floor to have brunch, and while the restaurant itself was beautiful, service was slow and disjointed. The other tables that sat after us got coffees first, and I had to flag a waiter down to follow up on our order. From what I could hear from the kitchen, it seems that they have forgotten our coffee orders when there was only three other tables occupied. When we checked out, they asked about our stay and we told them about the fridge issue. Just another "sorry about that" and no explanation was provided. Wanted to love this hotel for its great location and reviews, but we left largely disappointed. :(

Pretty good spot, but some things could be improved

I stayed here for work and had a decent stay. The lounge is lovely and the rooms are well appointed (minus the carpet - I hate carpeting in hotel rooms). I was on the 24th floor and it was surprisingly loud. You can hear everything on the street as well as the hallways - which makes me feel like they used cheaper doors and windows. There was work being done in the hotel at 8AM which sounded like it was right outside my door. I also felt like the ceiling was very low, which made the room feel claustrophobic. However, you can't beat the views and location!

Inviting and beautifully furnished. Very customer focused front desk. Beds super comfy. Great location. Room amenities great. Only area for improvement would be more lighting in the room-love the ambient but often feels too dark. Maybe one more lamp? Highly recommend The Jay. I only stay there when I go to SF!
