Great customer service

Best hotel service in San Francisco. We come once or twice a year to SF and out ot all the hotels this has been our favorite service so far. We have a toddler and she got coloring books and some little toys. The cleaning staff and valet service went above and beyond.

Luxury in San Francisco but not really

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I was in the Bay for work and I wanted to stay in the city instead of Silicon Valley. Considering the fact that this is an expensive hotel and rated 4-5 stars by Forbes and diamond ranking I’d say it doesn’t live up to its supposed reputation at all. The rooms are very corporate and boring and don’t feel luxury at all. First is the room, which in all honesty does not feel like a five star hotel or even a four star one. If you’ve stayed at any decent Marriott property or really any Hyatt or Hilton, you’ve stayed in a room like this. The bathroom is renovated in marble and it feels quite tacky leaving you asking yourself if the hotel owner was a marble salesman in his spare time. Additionally I’ve never seen a luxury hotel with shower curtains, not to mention the toilet is a pretty standard cheap toilet The service is okay for American standards, but don’t expect anything actually luxury. The most upsetting part is that they charge a 40$ destination fee, which having searched it up isn’t even a legal requirement of the city. It’s a choice per hotel. They try making it up to you by giving you a 40$ dining and drink credit, cable car tickets and tickets to the museum of modern art. All of which let’s be honest you didn’t ask for and as for the dining credit, all their items are overpriced and are marked up so much that bacon a bagel and potatoes will be 60$ anyway so you will be out of pocket for the food with the credit anyway even asking for eggs is 30$. Overall this leaves a bad taste in guests mouths. Additionally the front desk promised me that the card I used to book the hotel wouldn’t be charged and she’d replace it with my business card, in any case this didn’t happen and upon check out the same lady who checked me in charged my personal credit card and told me it was too late to change leaving me out of pocket and having to resolve this with my company instead of doing what they promised me at check in they told me it was too late. The building itself is a nice historical building, which acts as a facade to its corporate bland interior. Overall if you want to stay in the city, stay at the four seasons which suffers the same issues with corporate rooms but at least makes up for it with a nice view. The money paid for this property is not worth it at all and you are much better off staying at a courtyard or regular Marriott as I promise you, you won’t really feel much of a difference. This hotel is not a luxury property and is a 3/5 or 6/10 save your money and spend it on nice activities in the city

Terrific Hotel

This is an old and beautiful hotel within easy walking distance of the central business district-though be prepared to walk up and down some steep hills. My room was large, immaculate and comfortable, with ample work space, many outlets and a strong wifi signal. Service is quite good too. I would happily return.

Receptionist Ryan helped me with checking in for our room as Receptionist Teresa helped me with what’s on the 1st floor.

There were two valet attendants named Patrick and Joel and they were very helpful. There was a guy receptionist named Ryan who checked us in and he was very helpful and offered us water bottles. There was one female receptionist named Teressa who did not help me with checking in since she was busy but she told me very clearly on what’s at the first floor and on the last day when I said hi to Teressa she was welcoming same when I told her goodbye. I wish Teressa and Ryan were always our receptionists when I ask them questions. I’m just not sure if I can go again because the weather in San Francisco changes a lot in one day. Ryan was always pleasant to me like Teressa.

Disgraceful room and not worthy of the Ritz Carlton name

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

As a former Ritz Carlton employee this was an embarrassment and shameful event. We spent the weekend 8/1-8/3 - either no one read my profile or someone deleted it. It was our anniversary, no mention of it. I’m a former employee, no mention of it. Fine. Let’s move on to the room club floor 1 bedroom suite $1500/night - the bed was so saggy it was as though an elephant used the bed. Every piece of furniture in the room was noticeably damaged; chipped, scratched. The decor was dated. Such a shameful state. The room reminded me of a Vegas hotel room just overused and never cared for or maintained. What a disappointing experience
