Ka'ana Resort

We really enjoyed our stay here. The staff was very attentive and the food was great. The rooms and grounds are really awesome, we saw monkeys and parrots on the grounds. Would stay here again for sure, also very good spot to be centrally located for ruins, caves and waterfalls etc.

Visiting Ka'an Resort in San Ignacio sets the bar. It's close enough to the caves, ruins, and best tours in the area that you can adventure all day, but the second you're back on property, it feels like a completely different world. What makes Ka'ana stand out is how intentional everything feels. The Mayan culture that defines this region isn't just a backdrop here, it's woven into the whole experience, from hands-on cooking classes to spa treatments inspired by traditional Mayan healing practices. Nature is everywhere you look. Dense tropical flowers and trees, birdsong, and a feeling of being away from all your stress. It's a slow pace and an elevated experience. If you really want to treat yourself, book one of the suites with a private plunge pool and outdoor shower. Absolutelyworth it! And then there's all the extras that round out the property. A gorgeous main pool, a spa worth carving out an afternoon for, a restaurant that leans into local flavors, and even a little observatory for stargazing after dark. There's genuinely enough to do without ever leaving the resort. The staff make you feel truly looked after in a way that's authentic and attentive. Every encounter I had added to the experience of being here. San Ignacio has excellent resorts, and Ka'an is truly remarkable. It will leave a lasting impression and make you want to come back. Nothing compares. I highly recommend staying here.

Such a great spot! The staff were very accommodating. The food was great at the restaurant, but a bit pricey. We went into San Ignacio for dinner the rest of the evenings instead.

I was extremely excited to be staying at this resort. I thought great location in San Ignacio, not the jungle like some others but off the highway so easy to get in and out of town. That’s about the extent of this place. It’s an expensive resort and for the same price you can stay at other luxury places. I had originally tried at Chaa Creek but wanted A/C due to the August humidity. I wish I just took a regular room over there. Check-in process is fairly straight forward, nothing fancy. You get a welcome drink and towel. Few things to note, I booked under a promotion which had included 20% food and beverages, however they don’t tell you it’s a one time use. They tell you at check in. I went back to my emails and no mention of a one time use. The “amenities” are lacking. There’s yoga on site only two times/week and has to be at least two people. The coffee in the room in replenished, once you use what they give you (which is not a lot) you have to pay. The “included” breakfast is barely worth 5BZE dollars. You can get better in town. Now the rooms. We were in a 2 bedroom villa, note that the two rooms are not connected. There is one photo online and maybe I didn’t pay attention, buts it separate. No actual indoor separate living space unless you get a signature villa (unlike chaa creek, which has more photos). A small pack of spicy peanuts (maybe 1oz is $5usd), it’s def over-priced. The bathroom in the master has only outdoor shower, not an indoor one. And the bathroom space is open to your bedroom. (Again there’s no actual photo of the rooms online). There’s a small sofa in the corner under the tv so you can’t actually watch tv unless you’re sitting on your bed. Our pool wasn’t clean when we arrived (they did clean it once we asked). Not enough towels in the bathroom and also the shampoo and conditioner are seriously lacking. We stayed at a resort in San Pedro which was way better. The second room we had twin beds for my kids, kinda a bummer they were separated. Open courtyard and there room on the other side. We had them lock their doors. There isn’t even a chair in the room to sit on, only the beds. Turndown service was only for one room not both (even though we booked a two bedroom). The bartender Ismael was great. Driver Hector, super nice. The evening front desk manager was also friendly (his brother works the property also). Happy hour is from 4-6pm, 2 for 1 drinks. My husband and I at 6p the server asked if we wanted any more drinks. We said sure it’s 6p, Happy hour ending. When we got our bill, she had charged us for the two drinks, when I brought it up, she said yes, but it was 6:01p when I put charged you. Really? I was pretty surprised by that. Definitely wouldn’t have expected that. Excursions through them are expensive. Do yourself a favor and book your own. We did ATM tour through Belize cave and limpkin. Patrick is phenomenal, outstanding. We used their shuttle ( which you pay for) to get into town and back. Overall, I’ve stayed at many luxury resorts, and this was seriously lacking. Don’t stay here unless you want to be disappointed.

Our family (adults, teen college student) had a wonderful stay at Ka’ana. We loved our rooms and the beds were extremely comfortable. The resort is lovely and well maintained, but the highlight is the excellent service and friendly staff. Everyone was wonderful and that was the best part of our stay. We especially appreciated how flexible they were with modifying dishes in the restaurant for our family member who is a vegetarian with food allergies.
