Nestled into the sand dunes along Mexico’s dramatic San José del Cabo coastline, a place of mystery and magic unfolds. One where fire is the catalyst for bold flavors; heat and sound are healers; the sea is a place of adventure and discovery; whims are anticipated and fulfilled; and your place of rest is a gallery of Mexican artistry. Along gently sloping dunes overlooking the Sea of Cortés in San José del Cabo, luxury suites and villas reflect the land and those who sprung from it. Here, nature is invited within and resort guests encouraged to venture out: sliding glass doors replace traditional walls, terraces are an extension of home, with private plunge pools providing tranquility and the opportunity to take in fresh air. Throughout, luxury villas, art, textiles and decorative objects from Mexican artists showcase the tradition and talent found in Cabo and beyond.

My recent stay at the Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve was overshadowed by a very serious safety incident and the disappointing lack of response that followed. While my group and I were sitting by the pool, a large pane of glass suddenly shattered/exploded approximately two feet away from us. Thankfully, no one was physically injured, but it was an extremely frightening experience and could easily have resulted in serious injuries. What made the incident even more concerning was that staff members told us this was not the first time something like this had happened. Hearing that after such a close call was alarming and raised concerns about guest safety. Despite the seriousness of the situation, no one from management has meaningfully followed up with us since the incident. There has been no explanation, no inquiry into our well-being, and no gesture acknowledging the stress and disruption caused by what was potentially a very dangerous event. I have photographs documenting the shattered glass and the aftermath. Accidents can happen, but a luxury property of this caliber should take guest safety concerns seriously and communicate proactively when incidents occur. The lack of follow-up and accountability has left me deeply disappointed. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this property

Friends referred us to this gorgeous Ritz Reserve in San Juan Del Cabo. Spectacular doesn't begin to cover it and my photos won't do it justice, but it really is gorgeous. The service is a 10 out of 10 and their people clearly take pride in what they're doing. Food was excellent. Beach was beautiful although you can't swim in it here ( though we went to a beach club nearby ) snd the pools are next level.

Incredible experience. I stayed at this property with some friends and it was one of the best decisions I made. Not only was beautiful and with incredible service, but it felt so safe and secluded, away from all the noise of San Lucas. I will be back!

Glitzy property in a raw development full of dirt and concrete shells of half-finished buildings. Booked suite with a view and plunge pool for anniversary trip— unfortunately with a great view of the dirt and construction. We settled in and tried to look the other way. On our anniversary, as we sipped champagne, the bulldozers started rolling immediately behind us. The drivers had a great view of us by our plunge pool. After an hour or two of complaining we were moved to a nicer room— although the beep, beep, beep of the bulldozers was still audible. We were also greeted by a big cockroach. Pluses: - aspects of the property are lovely, especially the bar Candil - food is spotty but decent overall - service often great but inconsistent Minuses: - hotel is smack dab in an active construction zone - management’s efforts at remediation were inadequate - room service food is meh - pool attendants often look the other way when you need chairs set up Bottom line: we won’t be back!

Sadly, Zadun didn’t do it for us. It felt more like a “regular” Ritz, and frankly we’ve enjoyed the regular ones more than this property. For reference to understand my review, we typically stay at Ritz, Belmond, One&Only, Rosewood, Montage, Four Seasons, Oetker, and Airelles properties. Service was lacking immensely at the pool and beach even though the hotel was at 25% occupancy. The staff just didn’t seem happy or passionate about hospitality like I’ve seen at other luxury hotels. There were staff just hanging around doing nothing. I also never saw a hotel manager, which you’d typically see or meet one at a 5 star. The food was extremely overpriced, and the wine and champagne selection was lacking. Example: Only one option for champagne for $70 a glass of Billecart Salmon? We always felt like a burden at the pool, beach, and the bars - especially Candil. I’m still giving it 4 stars because the rooms are excellent and food was good despite being extremely overpriced. Our butlers Edwin and Edgar, Jorge at the bar, and Gabriel at Humo were stand out employees as well. I thought the spa (for a wellness resort with Sensei) was missing the warmth from staff, care, and tranquility. I felt rushed, there was no discussion, and no aromatherapy options. I was glad that I opted to not do the wellness program. The coffee station is also not good. Only one person was working at the register and making drinks, and there was nowhere to sit and enjoy your coffee. The coffee itself was not good. What was also strange is there’s a swim up pool bar and beach bar, but there was never anyone working them. We’re reluctant to try any other Reserves as this was our first Reserve property.
