Nestled into the sand dunes along Mexico’s dramatic San José del Cabo coastline, a place of mystery and magic unfolds. One where fire is the catalyst for bold flavors; heat and sound are healers; the sea is a place of adventure and discovery; whims are anticipated and fulfilled; and your place of rest is a gallery of Mexican artistry. Along gently sloping dunes overlooking the Sea of Cortés in San José del Cabo, luxury suites and villas reflect the land and those who sprung from it. Here, nature is invited within and resort guests encouraged to venture out: sliding glass doors replace traditional walls, terraces are an extension of home, with private plunge pools providing tranquility and the opportunity to take in fresh air. Throughout, luxury villas, art, textiles and decorative objects from Mexican artists showcase the tradition and talent found in Cabo and beyond.

Once again the ladies and gentlemen of the Ritz Carlton didn’t disappoint. This was our first stay at a Reserve and it was wonderful. Our main butler was Genesis and I can’t say enough about her attentiveness, caring and responsiveness. She went above and beyond. Everyone we met along the way was friendly and provided superior service. We visited El Barrio, Humo and used in-room dining. Great food at all places. The pool staff was also fantastic. Our room and our housekeeping staff were of superior quality. I highly recommend the quaint, quiet aspects of the Reserve and San Jose del Cabo if you’re looking to relax and not worry about anything. They made every attempt to tailor the vacation to us without requiring us to do much of anything other than tell them what we wanted to experience.

I read a lot of reviews prior to our trip to San Jose del Cabo, it was our first trip and the amount of resorts to choose from (at a high caliber) is staggering. I hope you find this review helpful, honest and answers all your questions to making the right decision for your trip. Zadun was a fantastic resort, hands down. Beautiful property (the landscape meticulously manicured), stunning sea views and well appointed in every capacity. It is a remote property so if you'd like to be in the heart of it all, this is not the place for you. We enjoyed being in a quiet, relaxing oasis where the desert meets the ocean, truly spectacular. The guests are a mix of couples, young families and older guests. To be clear, there is absolutely no swimming in the ocean at this property. There are 3 pools available to enjoy ocean views from while you relax, 1 of which is adults only. We took a few trips off property to enjoy dinner, and it is an average 15-20 minute drive to the nearest places (Flora Farms, Acre, downtown San Jose). We did utilize Uber and private transport, both good options depending on your budget and comfort. We did go to one dinner in Cabo (Manta at the Cape) and it was a solid 60 min drive one-way. We have traveled extensively across Mexico, Zadun meets or exceeds travel standards for a 5-star resort in all ways, however the standout is the service. Mexican hospitality has always been a high bar and this property did not disappoint. From staff who greet you by name, know your preferences and catering to special occasions, it was really impressive. Your personal butler stays with you during the entirety of your stay and coordinates to every need. We had a few issues with our room during our stay which were addressed immediately and professionally. To elaborate on this for concerned & weary readers, it was a key card that did not work and a shutter door that did not fully open and obstructed our ocean view - definitely not issues which ruin a vacation and fully resolved with one call! Rooms are well-appointed, absolutely spotless, and the beds are ridiculously comfortable! If I had one complaint it is the shower water pressure, which could be better. On property restaurants were fantastic, our favorites - El Barrio for breakfast or lunch, Equis (for lunchtime fish tacos) and Candil for an evening cocktail. Food quality is excellent - super fresh and delicious. If you're traveling on a budget, this is not the place for you, everything has a premium price tag. Lastly, do not sleep on the Sensei spa. They provided outstanding spa services, and the amenities for use before/after treatment were amazing (oasis pool, cold plunge, jacuzzi & outdoor showers, to name a few). We enjoyed yoga and meditation daily at Sensei and the instructor, Juan, led a wonderful & welcoming practice. Don't forget to pack your bug spray, at the end of the day you're surrounded by lush landscapes and there are mosquitos. Everywhere you go provides it but I like to be prepared. We will definitely be back, gracias para todos, Zadun!

Our family absolutely loved our stay at Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Baja. From start to finish, the experience was unforgettable. Our Toswani went above and beyond to make sure our children felt special, surprising them with cookies and milk, a delightful assortment of Mexican sweets, and other thoughtful touches that made the trip magical. The property itself is stunning. The views were breathtaking, we spotted whales from our lounge chairs almost every day! The rooms were spotless and aesthetically beautiful, designed with a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and natural elegance that made us feel completely at ease. The location is serene yet accessible, and the hotel made it easy to arrange transportation both into town and to our boating excursions. Every member of the staff was warm, welcoming, and dedicated to making our stay as relaxing and seamless as possible. We couldn’t have asked for a better vacation and look forward to returning!

This hotel has some serious issues. We booked a suite and the entire time - we had either non-existent water pressure in our shower or very low after they "fixed" it. We were attending a wedding and had to use the handheld device in the bathtub to shower. Because the handheld only goes up so far, we had to kneel to shower on a hard tub. In addition, the water never was above warmish. I complained several times to our "butler" and we were assured it was fixed, but it never was completely. Upon check out - the manager listened to us and smiled a lot but that is about it. For the price we paid, at the very least, I would have expected a discount for not having a working shower during our stay. The other issue is I had booked a spa appointment prior to arriving at the hotel, but the butler gave us another time after we checked in which did not work and kept insisting we had to pay the cancellation even though he was the one who had booked it. The spa was very understanding and did cancel the butler's reservation without a fee. My feeling is that the butlers must get some sort of kickback or commission for spa or restaurant reservations. Not sure - but this is what it felt like. Also, when we would ask for a cart - because it is a big property and I had heels and the request was made to the butler - it never came. Finally, and this struck me as odd - when the butler took our credit card payment for the deposit upon check in on a machine - he asked for the physical card and then wrote the 3 digit CVV code on the receipt. This struck me as odd, since the deposit was already received by the credit card machine. Also, as I was reviewing my bill on our TV - I noticed that the deposit that I paid in 2024 had not been applied. I texted the butler, but no resolution. Upon check out - the original bill did not have the deposit credit. If I had not been on top of that or remembered that deposit from almost a year ago - it may never have been applied. The check out person was very helpful and did find it and applied it. But the difference would have been several thousand dollars. On the positive side, the food servers in the breakfast restaurant and at Humo were outstanding. We definitely will not be back to this property. We had booked the One and Only, but decided to stay at the Zadun as it was one of the hotels recommended by the wedding we attended.

Beautiful rooms with plunge pool. Service, as usually, is top notch. Gorgeous ocean views (can’t swim at beach though, obviously). Restaurants on sight are fantastic. Highly recommend use of the spa products in the room!! They are amazing! Highly recommend if going to Cabo area.
