About the Hotel

Nestled into the sand dunes along Mexico’s dramatic San José del Cabo coastline, a place of mystery and magic unfolds. One where fire is the catalyst for bold flavors; heat and sound are healers; the sea is a place of adventure and discovery; whims are anticipated and fulfilled; and your place of rest is a gallery of Mexican artistry. Along gently sloping dunes overlooking the Sea of Cortés in San José del Cabo, luxury suites and villas reflect the land and those who sprung from it. Here, nature is invited within and resort guests encouraged to venture out: sliding glass doors replace traditional walls, terraces are an extension of home, with private plunge pools providing tranquility and the opportunity to take in fresh air. Throughout, luxury villas, art, textiles and decorative objects from Mexican artists showcase the tradition and talent found in Cabo and beyond.

Reviews for Zadun, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

If you’re looking for excellent service and serenity

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We were inadvertently diverted due to a hurricane in the Caribbean to San Jose Delano and Zadun. It was the best diversion we could’ve hoped for. First and foremost the staff - amazing, friendly, thoughtful. Everyone was outstanding. Next the locale - serene, beautiful, singular. Our room had an expansive view of the sea of coretez and yes, in Oct/Nov we saw whales from our room. Last but not least, the food, spa and service - rivals anywhere in the world. If you’re thinking of vacationing in Cabo, Zadun outside of San Jose Del Cabo is second to none.

Really great stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We booked last minute after deciding to change vacation plans, and we have never been to Cabo before. We had a lovely stay. While quite expensive, the cost seems on par with other premium resorts in the area. In exchange we had a very large room, oceanfront, with modern plugs and amenities. The room was very clean, and the bedding was heavenly. The best part was hearing the ocean waves all night long. Service was on point, with the pool staff and the dinner restaurant staff standing out, as well as our host, Jorge. We loved that there was both a large family pool, and a lovely adult pool. Meaning we could relax. Dinner was some of the best seafood we have had…ever. All outlets had a strong cocktail game. I would’ve liked to have seen more Mexican wines featured. We really just came here to relax and decompress, which was accomplished. We didn’t go off property. I had a massage at the spa. It was okay but the pricing was outrageous and I cancelled a second appointment. The spa menu doesn’t show gratuity (expected) or tax. The two add 30% to the bill. We just really enjoyed the adult pool, our massive room with plunge pool, the sound of the ocean, and our amazing dinners/cocktails. We only had 2 issues: we had a roach invade the room each night of our stay (reported in other reviews but probably endemic to the climate), and on checkout, the bellman never arrived so my dear husband dragged our luggage uphill to checkout. Otherwise we had a lovely stay, and plan to come back.

Feels Like Coming Home

From start to finish, our stay at The Ritz-Carlton Reserve, Zadún was absolutely unforgettable! 🌅 From Miguel, our incredible butler (Tosani ) who anticipated every need, to the amazing team at Equis—especially Rodrigo— the service was warm, personal, and top-notch. A special thank-you to the General Manager Thomas Jecklin for the thoughtful bottle of birthday champagne—such a classy touch! 🥂 The highlight of the trip was the Argentinian pop-up restaurant—fantastic steaks, great music, creative cocktails, and cigars under the stars. Every single staff member at Zadún went above and beyond to make our experience exceptional. Our family continues to return year after year because the staff always welcomes us back as if we’re coming home—their warmth and genuine care make Zadún truly one of a kind. ❤️

The best option in Cabo for relaxing in luxury

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Five stars from start to finish. The service, the food, the view, and the vibe. A truly beautiful resort with an excellent staff that make you constantly feel welcome and taken care of. We can’t say enough positive things about our experience at Zadún and would struggle to return to Cabo and stay anywhere else. We only stayed 2 nights as we wanted to try out a few resorts during our trip but it was by far our favorite and most memorable. Highly recommend breakfast at Barrio and the Australian steak at Argentinian night. The rooms at the resort are spread out so everyone gets around in golf carts and we had a blast getting driven up the mountain side after dinner. We really felt a sense of privacy with our room which is exactly what we were looking for. This is a resort you go for peace and relaxation.

95%

Basics: 7 nights in an Ocean View, Upper floor with plunge pool; couple in our upper ages; physically fit and well-traveled. Bottom-line: You expect the very best from a property like Zadun and pay for it. Very rarely do any deliver 100%. Generally, I’m satisfied at 95% and that’s what I’d score Zadun. The property is physically beautiful. The suite we stayed in was excellent. The rooftop terrace with plunge pool was the star of the show. Service: Top-notch. The staff was competent and friendly. Restaurants: Unfortunately, the top restaurant, Humo, was under renovation during our stay. The hotel did a good job with a temporary substitute, Argentinian Grill. While the other restaurants were all very good, we were a bit disappointed with the menu selections. There is a lack of diversity in terms of cuisine. The service was routinely excellent, and the quality of the food was A+. Pricing was high, but not unexpectantly so. Bars/Cocktails/Wine: Excellent service, creative cocktails, good selections. Excellent staff. Wines are outrageously marked up (in some cases 4x or 5x and never less than 3x). Fitness Center: About what you’d expect. Resort Pools: Never used them as we had our own, but they looked nice. Spa: We took a pass as the pricing was twice what we have experienced at other Ritz-Carlton level resorts. Beach: Eh. Not much of it and not very walkable. Don't come for the beach. Other: Very hilly. We love to walk and are fit for our age, but we often had to resort to taking one of the golf cart rides. And if you like to walk, you are constantly having to deal with the numerous carts that are moving around the property all the time, ferrying guests, maintenance staff, in-room dining carts, etc. It’s somewhat annoying but unavoidable. Judgment: Beautiful, great staff. Go if you love the one you're with and just want to hang out.
