We have just spent four nights here. The hotel is centrally located in the charming San Miguel de Allende. Built only 14 years ago, it blends seamlessly with SMA’s colonial architecture. Truly lovely, it sprawls across several beautifully manicured acres, with pools and gardens dotted with modern sculptures. The hotel has a central, open air courtyard where breakfast is served, a rooftop restaurant facing the Parroquia, and a bar on the ground floor. We had a spacious one-bedroom suite facing the Parroquia (Parroquia Suite) which included a very large private patio with furniture. There was ample clothing storage, a good sized bathroom (separate shower and soaking tub), good king mattress, nice linens, and an array of different pillows. Nespresso in-room coffee machines are provided. There is complementary coffee in the lobby area. The fitness center is well-equipped with state of the art machines, stretch bands, small and large weights and ample room for several people at once. We did not use the spa. I enjoyed swimming laps in the main 25meter pool, though there’s only room for two people at once due to the width. There are cabanas around the pool available at no charge to guests. There are tennis courts, as well. Staff were all very friendly. Service at the hotel was generally good, but a bit uneven. One day, we had to call at 2pm to have our room cleaned, though we had been out since 10AM. We had a rate that included breakfast, but when we were seated, we were immediately told about what was included and what was an extra charge. Some portions were quite skimpy. The seemed very weird and unexpected at a hotel of this calibre and price. They had a buffet, but it was not included. Breakfast orders were sometimes filled correctly, but sometimes things were missing. Unfortunately, breakfast was not a high point. I do want to note that the restaurant manager came to speak with us, after hearing that we had complained and extra charges were removed. Kudos to the hotel for supplying toiletries in large, refillable bottles, minimizing single use plastic and providing filtered water in glass bottles. The hotel does not tell you - unless you ask - that its water is filtered to a very high standard and is perfectly drinkable. This is true for most establishments serving tourists in San Miguel de Allende. The Rosewood is the first big chain resort-type hotel in SMA; it will be interesting to see what changes occur once the Waldorf Astoria is built on an adjacent property.

the hotel was nice but we had a number of service issues. It seems like everyday we were short towel or no service took place unless we called. This was not just one day, but the 4 that we were there. In addition, when we arrived the shower overflowed the rim and the shower head needed cleaning. Further the A/c did not work. They sent people to fix it, but it was pretty disappointing given what we paid that there would be that many issues in one room. We went there specifically for Easter event in San Miguel. However, several of the concierges had no clue about events, location, etc. 1 did, but 3 did not. We found out more from a poster on the main square that we did from the hotel. Would I stay there again.....maybe, but I am not sure.

What an incredible place to stay! The Rosewood San Miguel de Allende exceeded all my expectations. My husband and I spent five wonderful nights at the hotel and absolutely loved it. The property is stunning, full of charm and beautifully designed. The rooms are spacious and elegantly appointed, and the service was outstanding. I highly recommend the Rosewood - you won't be disappointed!

We (@wolfestreettravel on Instagram and wolfestreettravel.com) stayed at Rosewood San Miguel de Allende for 6 nights over Christmas. This was our eighth Rosewood (and the third in the same year, after Sao Paolo and St. Barths). The hotel and grounds are outstanding, as was our room, a Parroquia Suite. Our butler, Mariana, also was amazing. On Christmas day, the hotel had a band and choir playing in the courtyard, which lent the Rosewood a great atmosphere. That being said, there were definitely some misses at this Rosewood: Xmas dinner in the main 1826 Restaurant was beyond bad. It was a set menu of what essentially was wedding-reception fare, for which a Christmas dinner premium price was charged. Not at all in keeping with the Rosewood brand or experience expectation, and it left us pretty disappointed in our stay. Service at the pool was pretty bad, the little call buttons didn't work (or simply weren't responded to), and we ended up having to go straight to the service bar most of the time to get anything. Only two towels were provided in our bathroom and they were not replenished; if we took showers in the morning and again the evening after activities / pool, we ended up with still-wet towels from earlier in the day. We were in Room 304, right below Luna, and the noise was a little distracting on our terrace from the bar and restaurant above. It was somewhat of a disappointment that the benefits of the room category also came with inherent disadvantages of its proximity to Luna; selection of the Parroquia Suite room category shouldn't have a downside, too.

Fantastic place. Beautiful grounds, filled with sculptures. More pools than I could count. Beautiful rooms. And amazing service. Thank you Luis at the pool. Thank you Enrique in the bar. Thank you Norma at the spa. We'd recommend this place in a heartbeat. One tiny nit - the white wine they promote is good but wildly overpriced. And I'm from NYC. I know Manhattan prices. Otherwise - spectacular. The spa is great too.
