Tierra Atacama Hotel and Spa

Absolutely wonderful stay! You feel like they really were waiting for you! Very beautiful place, amazing view, gorgeous room, tasty food and wines! Thanks to Chris, he is like a soul of hotel! Thanks to Filipo our guide, such a nice and super educated person, he really love this earth and show it to us with all beuty! Also thanks to Bastian, Sofia and Kassandra!

We had the pleasure of staying for 6 nights at Tierra Atacama as a family of four. We reserved a suite and a poniente room (the latter shared by our adult children) and it was a perfect arrangement. Having the suite gave us more room to hang out as a family as needed, not to mention that the suite is GORGEOUS. And both types of rooms are beautifully designed with amazing views. Those sunrises from both rooms are truly unforgettable. Atacama as a destination should be on everyone’s bucket list. The landscape of this area is simply astounding. And the way that Tierra helped us to see Atacama in its glorious beauty was unforgettable. If you’re planning to visit Atacama, allow Tierra to host you. You won’t regret it. As our family was heading home after our stay at Tierra, we all agreed that this place gets a standing ovation. And we owe this to the staff at Tierra. They are all just an incredible group of people! A HUGE shout out to our guide Linda. She is spectacular! Linda captures everything that makes a guide so good: knowledgeable, considerate, flexible, and a great communicator. No matter how many times she’s gone on these excursions herself with countless other guests, she had a way of presenting these landscapes as if seeing them for the first time. We so appreciated her genuine enthusiasm and love for the land. Thank you Linda for making our time in Atacama so fond and memorable. Much gratitude to the following people who also made our stay so wonderful: Chris - from the moment you greeted us on our arrival to the time we said goodbye, your warmth and gift of hospitality will stay with our family for years to come. Maria Jose- you always welcomed us as if inviting us into your home and we thank you. Carol - your genuine concern in making sure we felt cared for during our stay was incredible. Alexander: we were at the bar enough times that you even crafted a drink just for our family. You’re amazing 🤩 Sebastian: you’re an expert craftsman at the bar and so fun to talk to. Thanks for always keeping it real! Diego: you’re another example that a lot of the Tierra talent is also at the bar (whether it be cocktails, mocktails, and infusions). Thank you 🙏 Felipe: you became an honorary member of our family. We so enjoyed our mealtimes because of you. Francisca: your warmth and welcome during breakfasts is just what we needed to start our day. Valentina, Sophia, and Oscar: thank you for making our mealtimes so delightful and nourishing. Javier: the stargazing at Atacama is worth the destination alone but Javier did an incredible job making the night sky come alive. I apologize for not mentioning everyone we encountered but we are so grateful to you all. The entire staff is amazing! Atacama is a stunningly beautiful destination. And Tierra does an extraordinary job making this place all the more memorable and wonderful.

We had the privilege of staying at Tierra Atacama for 5 nights in August 2026. Our stay ended up being quite unusual – despite visiting the driest desert in the world at the driest time of year, it rained over an inch in the first few days of our stay – over triple the average rainfall amount Atacama typically gets in 1 year! The staff at Tierra Atacama handled any weather-related setbacks flawlessly – roads to popular attractions did close, but our excursion guide, Linda, made sure we still saw the best of the desert. When we had downtime at the hotel, the friendly and engaging staff made us feel at home. The rooms, service, food, everything you'd expect at a resort of this caliber – were flawless. But what really made the stay special was the first-class hospitality. If you're able, we highly recommend the private tour option – Tierra Atacama did an amazing job of personalizing the trip to our interests. We even got to venture out on our last night (when we finally got clear skies!) and do some amazing night sky photography. The friendliness, attention to detail, and luxury here is worth every penny.

This review is from our 5 night stay at Tierra Atacama in June of 2026 Service – The service throughout our stay was outstanding. While we came primarily for the excursions, much of our enjoyment came from our daily interactions with the staff. Sebastian and Diego were always a pleasure behind the bar. No request was ever too much, and we looked forward every evening to their creativity in crafting a nightly cocktail. The waitstaff—including Sofia, Alejandro, Iggy, Bastian, and others—could not have been more welcoming or enjoyable. A special thank you as well to Carol, Pierre, and Maria for going above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable. Excursions – As a benefit of booking a suite, we were able to enjoy private excursions throughout our stay. I would say our initial guide pairing was simply a mismatch in personalities and expectations regarding what we wanted from the experience. After the first day, we spoke with Maria and Pierre, who could not have handled the situation more professionally. They were extremely receptive to our feedback and quickly arranged for a different guide for the remainder of our stay. I won't mention the original guide by name, as I have seen many positive comments about the individual and believe it was simply a matter of fit rather than fault. What stood out was how quickly and thoughtfully the hotel staff responded to ensure we had the best possible experience. Our new guide, Alonso, was fantastic. He took us to the Tatio geysers and Guatin Gatchi Valley, and we finished our trip with a climb to the summit of Cerro Toco. Alonso was incredibly knowledgeable, professional and friendly. He listened to our preferences and then made helpful suggestions that were aligned with our interests and desired activities. We felt as though we were active participants in the planning of our schedule during our stay. Alonso was encouraging when we were hiking and was supporting us while having fun each step of the way! We enjoyed Alonso’s friendly and fun demeanor while also being professional and attentive to our safety and comfort. We cannot express our gratitude enough towards the positive impact he had on our stay! Food – We were both very impressed with the dining options. We never had any difficulty finding appealing choices on the daily menu, and there were also more familiar options, such as pasta and burgers, for anyone craving something simpler. The included house wines were quite good, and premium selections were available for those looking to upgrade. We also had the opportunity to enjoy two barbecue dinners accompanied by local music, which were highlights of our stay. Rooms – As mentioned, we booked a suite for our stay. The views were breathtaking, and the room amenities were excellent. Our favorite feature was the in-room fireplace, which created a cozy atmosphere in the evenings. Location – The hotel is located just outside San Pedro de Atacama. Complimentary transportation is available for guests who wish to visit town, which we found to be a pleasant way to spend an hour or two exploring the local area. Overall, Tierra Atacama delivered an exceptional experience. The combination of outstanding service, memorable excursions, excellent food, and beautiful accommodations made for a truly unforgettable trip.
