Tierra Atacama shines as brightly as the stars that twinkle above it by night, within the vast and arid northern desert on the outskirts of the small village of San Pedro de Atacama. Overlooking the Andean mountain range and nearby Licancabur Volcano, the retreat is designed to immerse guests in the landscape and provide a luxury base for those eager to embrace the spirit of the altiplano. With dramatic views of the surrounding desert and majestic Licancabur Volcano, twenty eight elegant rooms offer a luxurious retreat and have been designed to bring the outside in, with subtle nods to the region's rich culture and history.

Literally out of this world! This hotel and area has a feeling like you are on another planet, the scenery is spectacular. There can be no better place to stay to take it all in than the Tierra Atacama hotel. It’s so lovely, clean, cosy, extremely well organised and the staff are of some of the very best I’ve ever come across from the manager to all of his staff, and I have been lucky enough to travel a lot. The food is amazing, great wine selection and the excursions were fantastic, the guides were organised, very well informed and genuinely nice people. I can’t rate this hotel highly enough and would definitely come back or try their hotel in Patagonia. Our thanks to all the staff that made this such an incredible experience.

My husband and I have been lucky to stay in some beautiful places all over the world - Tierra Atacama is up there with the very best. The welcome when we arrived was warm and comprehensive, in no time at all we had booked our excursions (with flexibility to change as required) and were enjoying a scrumptious 3 course dinner. Our room was spacious and quiet with the most comfortable king sized bed and equipped with everything we needed and then some. Cleaned twice a day and the water bottles and other little gifts were much appreciated. All meals in the restaurant were excellent and the wait staff could not have been more attentive. The excursions were outstanding - all so diverse and spectacular. You can do as much or as little as you please Day 1 Moon Valley (2k hike through unique scenery) Salt Flats (easy walk to see the lakes and flamingoes) Day 2 Red Rock (2 hour drive there and back to walk and see some of the most stunning colours; worth it and then some) Lake Cejar (fun float in the salty lake; Tierra was amazing supplying towels and bath robes) Stargazing (with a very powerful telescope and a great guide) Day 3 Tatio Geysers (truly out of this world and worth the early wake up) Day 4 Ruins (hiked to the top of the lookout and enjoyed a 360 view of the Atacama out to the Andes) There was so much we missed - horse riding (they cater for all levels); different hikes and mountain bike riding (they even have electric bikes). Everything is exclusive to Tierra and guests are incredibly well looked after. We had spa treatments post the geyser trip that were good. Big thank you to the staff who were all wonderful - especially Pierre (guide); has such comprehensive knowledge and is just great with people. I think the world will soon discover the wonders of Tierra and Atacama. Incredibly grateful we were able to experience it (we had the all inclusive meals and excursions) and worth every cent!

After years working on an Australian travel program, I've been fortunate to visit some incredible locations; but Tierra Atacama, you had me at hello!! The mega watt smile and infectious energy of Chris, the Assistant Manager, welcoming us, set the tone for what was an exceptional 4 day stay. The design of the main pavilion is stunning, and then you get to your suite, and the wow factor really kicks in! The most thoughtfully curated luxury suite with quite literally every single thing you could possibly need. Back to the staff, as they take service with a smile to the next level... the food and wine are a credit to the chef and his team...being somewhere so remote and creating such fresh and innovative daily menus, that are complimented by the wait staff, in particular, Catarina, who is sunshine personified! The GM, Maria Jose is a constant gentle presence, ensuring you are making the most of your stay...and you can rest assured that the team have created an excursion list that caters to every interest, ability and highlights the best of the Atacama. The guides, many of them locals, enrich daily outings with insight and genuine passion. Don't miss the geysers, that was our favourite from a spectacular list. Atacama has an energy you have to see to believe...its vast lunar like landscapes, the Andes, the salt flats, the hot springs and then there's the flamingos, the vicunas and the condors...no matter how many days you stay, you will be left wanting more... this was an exceptional experience in every sense, thank you Chris, Maria Jose and your wonderful team

A wonderful oasis in an oasis. The design of the hotel blends perfectly into the environment, and the service is fantastic

Lovely property, rooms great (although common issue of too many controls for lights and temperature), food trying too hard and sometimes a challenge to pick something we looked forward to. Service was great in patches but not consistent. Nice bar. Excursions in big groups which does not match price point of hotel compared to other similar properties in other parts of world. Shout out to Chris, Sebastian, Luis, Angela in particular.
