Exceptional from start to finish!

After years working on an Australian travel program, I've been fortunate to visit some incredible locations; but Tierra Atacama, you had me at hello!! The mega watt smile and infectious energy of Chris, the Assistant Manager, welcoming us, set the tone for what was an exceptional 4 day stay. The design of the main pavilion is stunning, and then you get to your suite, and the wow factor really kicks in! The most thoughtfully curated luxury suite with quite literally every single thing you could possibly need. Back to the staff, as they take service with a smile to the next level... the food and wine are a credit to the chef and his team...being somewhere so remote and creating such fresh and innovative daily menus, that are complimented by the wait staff, in particular, Catarina, who is sunshine personified! The GM, Maria Jose is a constant gentle presence, ensuring you are making the most of your stay...and you can rest assured that the team have created an excursion list that caters to every interest, ability and highlights the best of the Atacama. The guides, many of them locals, enrich daily outings with insight and genuine passion. Don't miss the geysers, that was our favourite from a spectacular list. Atacama has an energy you have to see to believe...its vast lunar like landscapes, the Andes, the salt flats, the hot springs and then there's the flamingos, the vicunas and the condors...no matter how many days you stay, you will be left wanting more... this was an exceptional experience in every sense, thank you Chris, Maria Jose and your wonderful team

A wonderful oasis in an oasis. The design of the hotel blends perfectly into the environment, and the service is fantastic

Lovely place but a mixed experience - very nice but expected more at that price point

Lovely property, rooms great (although common issue of too many controls for lights and temperature), food trying too hard and sometimes a challenge to pick something we looked forward to. Service was great in patches but not consistent. Nice bar. Excursions in big groups which does not match price point of hotel compared to other similar properties in other parts of world. Shout out to Chris, Sebastian, Luis, Angela in particular.

This is the Best

Not sure how TA’s algorithm cites this as 4th best accommodation in San Pedro, bc I have it as #1. Here goes my review: First, the four excursions run by the in-house guides/drivers. We had a Chilean named Sebastian. He is a college grad who had knowledge of geography, history, knew the names and heights of all the 15+ volcanoes nearby, all of the birds (important bc my husband is an avid birder). His knowledge was matched by his enthusiasm. We experienced a fantastic 4 day stay in a magical part of the world. It’s unlike anything we’ve seen before with 16000 foot snow capped volcanoes (active and puffing away), salt flats at 7500 feet with flocks of flamingos eating brine shrimp and a geyser field where we hiked at 14000 feet. We drove for miles without seeing other humans and very few vehicles. We were far outnumbered by wild llamas, donkeys and vicuñas. Amazing. The lodge was luxurious and beautifully fit into the surrounding countryside. I read that they reopened in March 2025 after a $20m renovation. They used beautiful building materials and a lovely design aesthetic that gives a relaxing atmosphere, especially after a long day of hiking or driving between sites. Endemic plants around the property are labeled and some are used to flavor the food. I used the small but adequate gym, but didn’t have a chance to go to the spa. The central area is lovely and a perfect place to unwind, meet other guests and have a drink. The bartender, also Sebastian, was inventing new and fun concepts each evening. Food was excellent, all three meals, since we ate all meals there. Lunch and dinner had several choices offered each day as well as a set list of entrees which were offered consistently. Portions were good, but not huge, we appreciated that. An exception to quantity was BBQ night where they featured a lamb grilled outdoors as well as some other food. We didn’t have room for dessert! Wines were excellent and local to Chile. Our room was beautifully appointed and so comfortable. We had a sitting area and a private outdoor plunge pool. Key to our experience was the questionnaire we filled out in advance for the team. I mentioned that my husband was a birder and they took that and a few of the other nuances into consideration as they planned our itinerary and our pairing with Sebastián as our guide. This planning was part of the success? Thank you to a very special and friendly staff who shared such a lovely part of the world with us.

Tierra Atacama, an oasis in the dessert

This Lodge had super management. Tierra Atacama is newly remodeled and beautiful. The rooms have spectacular views and are well done. I found them beautiful and functional. The main reason I loved this Lodge was because of the management. Carol the manager made us feel so special. Thank you Carol, you made this visit incredible. Linda was a great guide, as was Sebastian. We enjoyed ourselves on the excursions they led. The star gazing is a must do at this location. I highly recommend it. Food was good and they serve amazing Vik wines. Last but not least, a shout out to Caterina and Violeta who were awesome at customer service.
