Had a wonderful juniorsuite with a seaview. Two beaoutiful bathrooms. Theonly downside was the form bed. Staff was great, breakfast too. Overall a very nice hotel!

Nice historical hotel

Nice historical hotel with modern renovation. Friendly service, great pool (seems with sea water), pet friendly (we traveling with Labrador). Breakfast is good, coffee very testy; you can prepare any type of fresh juices. Gym is not for someone who want get heavy training session, but for the holiday it's not critical. You can get covered parking for 17 Euro or uncovered for free. Nice garden around the hotel with the sea view.

Where 5-star splendor meets the romance of the past.

We spent four wonderful nights at this stunning hotel, staying in a superior room with a terrace on the first floor and a beautiful sea view. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel incredibly welcome and well cared for. The Reception staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly—no question was too much for them. The room’s decor was perfectly in line with what you’d expect from a five-star hotel, and it was clear that the staff always went the extra mile to keep things running smoothly. We especially appreciated the thoughtful gesture of receiving a bottle of water along with the usual chocolates during the turn-down service, which was a welcome treat in the heat. A huge thank you to the housekeeping staff and valets who work so hard behind the scenes! You are a true asset to this hotel, and your efforts don’t go unnoticed! ❤️ Breakfast: I’ve seen some negative reviews regarding breakfast, but we actually found it to be one of the best we’ve had at a five-star property, so I didn’t share that concern at all. Beach: Given the scorching weather, we decided to make this more of a beach holiday rather than explore Sanremo in depth. The hotel offers beach vouchers for €40, which includes two sun loungers and an umbrella. You can pick these up at reception from 8 am, and they’re reserved for you all day, allowing you to take your time heading down to the beach. While you can get a slightly lower price directly from the beach club, we found the convenience of the hotel’s service well worth the €40. The club’s bar and restaurant ‘Pico’ offers delicious lunch for very fair prices! Rooms: One small downside of the rooms was that nearly 90% of them (according to the reception staff) have connecting doors to adjacent rooms, and we had two of them. This made the room not as soundproof as you would expect. Aside from that, we highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the gateway to the Côte d'Azur. It’s just a 50-minute drive to the heart of the region, offering a great alternative to the sky-high prices you’ll find there. We’d definitely choose Sanremo and the Royal Hotel again in a heartbeat!

A Beautiful Hotel and Location But Avoid the Food

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The hotel is exceptionally beautiful and our room was large, lovely and spotless. However, it did not include an iron and, when we asked for one, we were told that only the laundry service was available. When we explained that we needed it for that evening and the clothes were clean, we were told the only option was an expedited pressing services for double the normal price. Also, the pillows on the bed were extremely flat and uncomfortable. My husband asked for softer pillows the next day and we were then provided with adequate pillows. We enjoyed the pool very much and the pool staff were attentive and welcoming. We did order drinks and food at the pool but the prices were very, very inflated. We had spa treatments (the pinda mei) and I had a very skilled technician and really enjoyed the treatment while my husband said his experience was just average as his technician was not very skilled. Afterwards, we were disappointed to learn that we could not access the Wellness area without a prior reservation. The breakfasts were very good with a wide selection of food in a beautiful location. However, we had very disappointing dining experiences at both Il Giardino and Corallina. The food was very overpriced and mediocre at best. The quality was not fresh and we waited 1.5 hours for our appetizer to be remade after we sent it back because it contained raw batter. We were also seated so close to the next table at Il Giardino that their chain smoking throughout the meal affected us. Also, despite making the reservation 4 months prior and letting the staff know it was to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, we were seated at a table directly in front of the area where the wait staff collected plates and listened to banging plates and cutlery throughout the meal. One young woman who was part of the front desk staff (who was often there went we had an inquiry) was not welcoming and often treated our inquiries/requests with impatience/annoyance.

Laurence and I often like to break up our time at home in the South of France by a visit to somewhere new along the coast so this Easter we took a train to San Remo and checked in at the Royal Hotel. The Royal Hotel is the definition of old school luxury, charm and attentive, discreet and friendly service. You are made to feel special from the very first moment you step in the door. We stayed in a Junior Deluxe Suite which was worth it just for the terrace and the amazing views of the grounds, the incredible pool and the sea beyond. Almost every day we said to each other - this may have been our first visit but we will definitely be back - so what are you waiting for go and treat yourself!
