El Encanto Santa Barbara is a gorgeous gem. I come from the East Coast so I was up at 5 each morning, loved opening my balcony and breathing the fresh air with my coffee before it got bright outside. I wish I brought my workout outfit, but I was there for couple days only.

I haves stayed at this lovely hotel many times. Imagine my disappointment when I went to the lobby at 6am to get some work done, only to find out that the coffee bar had been discontinued. Wow this was a huge letdown.

We stayed 1 night as a pit stop on our California road trip. We were able to get into our room early (which smelt divine!) and then use the pool which was lovely. The hotel has beautiful grounds and the terrace for dinner was really pretty (the food was good too but not exceptional). Overall the service was some of the best we have had.

Slightly run down hotel with rooms spread over the property. Bathroom was clean and updated but room itself was tired and needed a serious upgrade. We were upgraded to a suite that was quiet and secluded. The property itself is very pretty and overlooks the ocean. Beach access can be arranged by an outside service that can supply chairs and umbrella. Staff are not top of their game but are trying their best. Service is acceptable but just lacks the effort that you want to expect from a 5 star hotel. They have one restaurant and the food was good but once again not quite there as far as quality of service. Menu was fairly well varied with good starters and main courses but dessert was poor.... no great choices and i would have expected better Hotel was just sold in July and i hope the new owners refresh and upgrade everything as it badly needs it but has good potential.

Highly recommend the El Encanto when visiting Santa Barbara. Beautiful water & city views from terrace, great rooms, and outstanding service.
