About the Hotel

Hotel Mongibello Ibiza captures the glamour of 1960s Italian Riviera living through a distinctly Ibizan lens, creating a sophisticated escape inspired by “Dolce Far Niente,” the art of doing nothing beautifully. Set directly on the waterfront in Santa Eulalia with private beach access, the hotel blends retro Mediterranean elegance with contemporary luxury, from its sun-drenched pool terraces to interiors filled with vintage-inspired details and curated design touches. The rooms and suites are especially memorable, many offering sweeping sea views, furnished balconies, and expansive terraces designed for lingering Aperol-filled afternoons. Signature suites elevate the experience further with rooftop terraces, Gazebo showers overlooking the Mediterranean, Marshall Bluetooth speakers, premium bath amenities, cocktail service, and thoughtful touches like turndown service and in-room breakfast, all crafted to immerse guests in the hotel’s playful yet refined atmosphere.

Beyond the rooms, the hotel embraces the social spirit of Ibiza with stylish spaces designed for long lunches, sunset cocktails, and late-night music. Sorella Ristorante brings an elevated Italian dining experience to the island, while Sorella Terrazza offers panoramic Mediterranean views ideal for aperitivo hour. Guests can also spend evenings at Lola’s, the hotel’s velvet-lined cocktail club inspired by Ibiza’s legendary nightlife scene.

Reviews for Hotel Mongibello Ibiza

3-star reality

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I genuinely hope this review saves someone from making the same mistake we did. Just keep this in mind before booking. We stayed at Mongibello Ibiza for a week in August. The biggest problem with this hotel is the huge gap between how it is presented online and what you actually get. The whole “5-star luxury” positioning feels fake! The photos and Instagram make Mongibello look polished. In reality, the hotel looks much more basic, cheaper and more worn. If you are used to genuinely high-end hotels, the difference is obvious from the moment you arrive. We paid extra for a Sea View room and were initially given a room mainly facing the building next door. We had to complain just to get the room category we had already paid for!! And the service makes it worse. One of only two lifts was broken for our entire week in peak August. One lift for the whole hotel meant long waits every day. Housekeeping was terrible: empty soap dispenser on arrival, coffee capsules repeatedly not replaced, superficial cleaning, and a dirty cleaning cloth left in our sink. The room itself was worn. We also booked as a couple and received two single beds pushed together instead of a proper double bed. Even basic bathroom amenities were an issue. No cotton pads, no cotton buds, no toothpaste and other basic toiletries you would normally expect at this level. Even after we specifically asked for them, they were not properly replenished. There was also not even complimentary water in the room on arrival. Breakfast was badly managed: the same food every single day and around a 15-minute queue for eggs almost every morning. The clearest example of the poor management was the hotel’s own Instagram offer. At the time of our check-in, Mongibello’s official Instagram was still advertising an offer that included certain services for free. There was No expiry date stated anywhere in the offer. Reception simply told us: “It’s not valid anymore.” They then expected us to pay for exactly the same services that their own official account was still advertising as complimentary. That is honestly absurd. We have dated sсreenshots and screen recordings showing the offer was online when we arrived. A few days later, it was removed. No proper apology. No alternative. No compensation. After a week of a broken lift, bad housekeeping, missing basic amenities, the wrong room on arrival and an advertised offer they refused to honour, there was zero attempt to make anything right. Yet when we asked for a short late check-out — just 1–2 hours — they immediately quoted €70 and referred to “hotel policy”. Very strict about policy when there is extra money to collect. Much less strict about working lifts, basic housekeeping, advertised offers or simply providing what guests have already paid for. That is Mongibello in a nutshell: the branding is better than the hotel, the marketing is better than the management, and the price is far more five-star than the service. If you are used to real luxury hospitality — proper housekeeping, attention to detail, competent management and staff who actually try to solve problems — this hotel will be a serious disappointment. As experienced travellers, we always try to find something positive to say, but unfortunately, the location is about the only thing we can praise here. Ibiza itself is incredible. We simply chose the wrong hotel. We would never return and cannot recommend it.

Relaxing retro luxury with wonderful sea views and friendly staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We had the most wonderful holiday at the Mongibello. The staff are so friendly and the atmosphere is super relaxing. It was our first visit to Ibiza to attend my niece’s wedding, so we weren’t sure what to expect from the experience at all. When looking for a hotel in Santa Eularia, I was instantly drawn to the Mongibello’s design aesthetic and retro feel, and its gorgeous sea front location. We were excited in the months running up to our stay and I was worried I would build the place up too much and the reality wouldn’t live up to the photos. Fortunately, it was absolutely fantastic! Our room was spotless, and the sea view and balcony were beautiful. The room is on the cosy side, but the bathroom is big and the shower is one of the best I’ve ever used. We were very glad of the air con and ceiling fan in the room. The room was also very quiet. We loved the poolside and the music was eclectic with a great retro vibe. We even looked up the Mongibello playlist on Spotify so we could still feel like we were there. All the staff were so friendly to us, from reception and breakfast, to the poolside team and the housekeeping staff were lovely. We came home at the beginning of July and immediately booked to return in September. We are currently counting the days until we are back at the Mongibello!

Wonderful stay- would return in a heartbeat!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Myself and three friends returned from a weeks stay at the the Mongibello last week. We had the best stay and would highly recommend! Highlights for us were the breakfast which was excellent. There was everything you could have wished for: cava for making a Buck’s Fizz, eggs cooked to order (omelette, eggs royale, eggs Benedict etc) pastries, fruit, smoked salmon, meat- the list goes on. The setting for breakfast was lovely- a relaxed vibe with a lovely view. One member of the party was gluten free- there was bread, cereal, biscuits available along with the fruit/ meats/cheeses/eggs/ other cooked items that were also fine for them. Adela in the breakfast room always greeted us with warmth and was welcoming throughout our stay. The room was modern with an exceptionally comfortable bed. All four of us had the best sleep while we were there! There was air con and an over head fan. We appreciated the robes and slippers included in the stay. It was an excellent rainfall shower with shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Our towels were changed twice daily. Our only issue was a lack of drawers which could easily be resolved with replacing the bedside tables with one that had drawers. The pool was a joy with the comfiest loungers. We never had an issue getting a lounger over the course of our stay. Pool towels could be changed between 10-6 each day. Service around the pool was excellent thought drinks were expensive with cocktails around 15 euros but delicious and a good range! Soft drinks were around 5 euros. The pool was warm and never felt particularly busy. Music plays through the day with a 60s vibe in the morning and different djs in the afternoon. Some reviews complain about the loudness of the music but we really didn’t have an issue with the music at any point in the day- we enjoyed it!! Staff at the hotel made our stay. Oscar around the pool, breakfast room and restaurant was incredibly hard working, friendly, welcoming and positive in every interaction. Aisha met us on our first day and was super accommodating throughout our stay. She was warm and friendly- an asset to the Mongibello team. Other staff who need a mention are Gaston on the egg station and Sara and Marta on Reception. The hotel is around a 15 minute walk to the centre and around 25 minutes to the marina. There are lots of bars and restaurants that we enjoyed during our stay. We arranged car hire during our stay through Reception and the car was dropped to the hotel. Marta arranged this and the agent came and took payment on the morning the car hire started. We used this for a trip to Ushuaia to see Calvin Harris so we didn’t have to worry about taxis after the event. We had no issue with parking at hotel. Our only quibble would be when we arrived at the hotel our room wasn’t ready- this wasn’t any issue as we were before the 3pm check in. At 3pm, our room wasn’t ready and we weren’t give a time frame for how long it would be. A offer of a free drink or a rough time frame would have been appreciated. Overall, we had a brilliant stay and would return in a heartbeat.

Really Gorgeous hotel, shame about the service.

Mongibello is a stunning hotel. The design is beautiful, the pool area is fantastic with plenty of sunbeds, and there are lots of places to relax. The bar has a great atmosphere, the rooms are charming, and I loved the décor and theme. The restaurant on my first night was excellent, with great food, drinks and service. I would happily return or try another Concept Hotel Group property. However, the service needs significant improvement. I checked in early and was given the wrong room key, believing I had received a complimentary suite upgrade. Four hours later I was told to move rooms immediately or pay to stay. I then had to wait all day for my replacement room. Reception let me keep the suite for one night because of their mistake, but the promised complimentary drinks never arrived. Some staff were also rude, questioning why I complained when the error was theirs. My original room had been given away, so I was moved to a room overlooking the car park. During the move, my food was left out of the fridge and spoiled, and a swimsuit went missing with no follow-up. Other issues included poor soundproofing, no Wi-Fi for two days, housekeeping not attending daily, holes in the blackout curtain, a broken mirror, flies in the coffee machine, a cigarette left in the suite, paying extra for milk, flashing spotlights, a fire alarm at 10am, no beach towels before 10am, and slow pool service. All issues contradicts what is in the official hotel guide. No response to emails.

Do not stay. It’s a 3-star hotel.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Unfortunately, this was not the 5-star experience we expected. The condition of the rooms, cleanliness and level of service were extremely disappointing for a hotel marketed as 5-star. There’s many reviews about this hotel being more like a 3 star hotel and I should’ve trusted them. The biggest issue was the bathroom in our original room. There was SIGNIFICANT visible mould throughout the shower area, along with damaged and poorly maintained finishes. The bathroom door was jammed and scraped heavily against the floor when opening and closing, and the shower rail/handle was also damaged. These are not minor cosmetic issues and should have been identified before the room was allocated to a guest. After raising my concerns, management kindly upgraded us to another room. While I appreciated the gesture and their willingness to address the situation, even the upgraded room had visible mould in the bathroom. At that point, it was difficult to view this as an isolated issue. Visible mould in multiple bathrooms is simply not something I would expect from a hotel presenting itself as 5-star. The common areas also did not feel remotely 5-star. The hallways leading to the rooms honestly felt more like the corridors of a basic motel than a luxury hotel. They were extremely warm with no effective air conditioning and really took away from the overall atmosphere the hotel is trying to create. The carpets were stained everywhere. Breakfast was another disappointment. It is only available from 8:00am to 10:30am, which I found to be quite a limited window for a resort hotel, particularly in Ibiza. There was only one cook to order station, which resulted in long queues and having to stand around waiting for ages just to order eggs and very limited food overall. There were also surprisingly few basic bathroom amenities, and complimentary still water was only replenished on the first day (I called the staff to ask for more water and he said we have to pay 6 euros per bottle of still water). We also experienced issues with the lift that made it feel unreliable. Service around the pool was another disappointment. On one occasion I ordered a club sandwich and a glass of ice. After waiting around 30 minutes for the ice, I politely tried to get the attention of the staff member who had taken my order. He put his hand up / palm towards me while continuing to walk away. When I tried again around 10 minutes later, he initially ignored me again. When he eventually returned and I explained that neither the ice nor my food had arrived, there was no apology. Another staff member eventually delivered them. The setting and views are beautiful and the hotel photographs well, but that alone does not make a property 5-star. The mould in both bathrooms, poor maintenance, motel-like hallways, limited breakfast setup and inconsistent service were far below what we expected. I genuinely cannot understand how this property has received or maintains a 5-star classification paying high prices during peak season. I would not recommend staying at Mongibello if you are expecting a genuine 5-star hotel experience. Based on what we experienced, it is nowhere near the standard I would associate with a luxury property. I’ll go back to staying at OKU next time.
