Reviews for Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows

This was not a good stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

I do not recommend this hotel. The room was comfortable enough, but was not cleaned thoroughly. Example - when we arrived there was an empty Perrier bottle holding the curtains back. I had talked with the hotel a week before our stay asking if they can secure a bottle of distilled water for us due to the need of a medical device. I first spoke with the concierge. He said he only handles rides and restaurant reservations. He transferred me to someone "he thought could help". This second person assured me it would be no problem at all. There would be a bottle waiting for us when we arrived. Not only was there no distilled water, but I talked with 3 different people trying to find out what could be done (if something could be done). Finally, the front manager said he would handle it. Not without "lecturing" me both on the phone and later by text that this is not something the hotel is prepared to do. If I had been advised before our arrival the hotel couldn't do this, I would have made other arrangements. Ultimately the water was provided, and they did not charge the room for it. The elevators were not working well in my wing. At the lobby level, the call lights were not working and only one elevator was in service. I had many conversations with other guests waiting for an elevator. We decided the buttons not only were not lighting, they were not calling the elevator. We had to just wait until someone brought the elevator to the lobby by chance so we could go up. This was for 2 days. On the 3rd day, the elevator wasn't working at all. We have to walk down from the 4th floor for breakfast and then up again. The hotel had to have staff come to carry our luggage down so we could leave. We slept in on Saturday and came down for breakfast/brunch at 11:00. We were told the hotel does not have anywhere we could eat from 11 to 11:30. They stop serving breakfast at 11, and won't seat anyone else until they opened for brunch at 11:30. How can a quality hotel offer no food from 11 to 11:30 on a Saturday??? The restaurant host offered to make us a reservation for 11:30. When that didn't suit us, he suggested we walk to the 3rd street promenade to find a restaurant for breakfast. Not knowing the area, we followed his suggestion. We could find NO WHERE on that promenade for breakfast or brunch. We wandered and finally found a lunch place (by this time it was indeed lunch time). We married at the Fairmont in Seattle years ago. We expected the Fairmont Miramar to be of equal quality. Sadly, that was not the case.

Had my hotel wedding block here and loved it!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

I got married this past weekend and had my hotel wedding block at the Fairmont. For context, I grew up in LA, live in Chicago now, and stay at many luxury hotels. I'll start by saying the hotel exceeded my expectations. Kim Dorfman in sales did a great job at organizing the room block and meeting all of our requests. Jordan the concierge was super helpful and friendly. Lou in room service/catering was so helpful to work with to arrange my bridal "getting ready" suite breakfast and went out of her way to help my mom with several tasks. Gabi at the bungalow made sure my guests got in with ease. Multiple guests said the beds were very comfortable, the service was great and the location is superb. Furthermore, I am a surgeon in Chicago and used to having to micromanage everything. I didn't need to do that at the Fairmont. For example, they remembered to give out all our welcome gifts at check in when I have been to so many weddings when that has been forgotten. In response to the elevator comment below-- yes the elevators did go down at one point and the hotel staff worked hard to help everyone with luggage etc. There is a major renovation planned (obviously including an upgrade to the elevators) but the logistics of which are being figured out with the upcoming olympics/world cup. I think the hotel is doing the best they can with elevators that are part of a historic building and are eager to renovate as soon as they can. Long story short-- do not hesitate to stay here or have your wedding hotel room block here!

DO NOT STAY HERE

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We woke up Mother's Day morning with a letter and very professional signs advising none of the elevators were working. Turns out, this is not unusual at this hotel. They did nothing for the guests, acted like it was not an issue, and the day ended with no working elevators.

Great customer service and professionalism

Kristijan is incredibly friendly and helpful. I was impressed with his excellent customer service. As I got into the valet, I was confused on where to go and also had problems with opening my trunk. Kristian was more than willing to help me and helped me to navigate where I needed to go. Thank you for providing a positive experience!

A nice comfortable hotel.

A spacious bedroom - I booked one with a sea view. Nice balcony. The room was well furnished with plenty of space for clothes. Excellent breakfast (at additional cost). Well located for town. Pretty walks on the cliff tops across the road. Pool looked good but weather not warm enough to use. Just a nice hotel.
