Reviews for Hotel Casa del Mar

The best place to stay in Santa Monica

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights and were blown away by how nice it was. The location is the best so close to the Santa Monica pier. But you may end up not even leaving the hotel it’s that nice. The property is extremely well kept and the staff are all on point. You know a place is nice when the only negative people can find is the price. For me it was worth every $.

Beach, surfers, palms and the most beautiful room with a view - plus excellent service

I haven't been to LA in a while, and now I had to work in Beverly Hills, but I wanted the ocean, so I stayed at the Casa del Mar in Santa Monica, and I loved every minute I spent there, and every detail: The lush design, the lovely room (very quiet suite on the 7th floor; thanks for the sweet upgrade!), the gorgeous beach (endless!), the awesome view (to the beach, the palm trees, the pier, the Pacific...), the sunshine (yeah, well, that's Southern California for you, I know), the friendly, efficient and super-helpful staff, the extras (the house car from 4 to 11 p.m.), the delicious breakfast (which I had in my room every day of the 5 days I stayed, because I did not want to miss the view), the fact that guests of the Casa can also lunch and dine at the Shutters on the Beach next door. I loved the Nespresso coffee maker and the generous supply of bottled water without any extra charge in my room. I loved the huge bathroom and the cleanliness. I also loved the location: downtown Santa Monica and Pier are walkable, Venice Beach is within reach of the house car, and for every distance you might want to uber to, there are ubers available (I never waited more than 1 minute). Drive over from and back to LAX airport was about 30 minutes. From the very first moment on I felt at home, and I enjoyed every moment I stayed at Casa del Mar. I will definitely be back!

A Night to Remember

My wife and I recently had an amazing experience staying on a Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary. Brian went out of his way to make our night special upgrading our partial ocean room to a suite. He even went further sending us Champagne and chocolate covered strawberry’s! So nice to feel so welcome at a high end hotel. Thank you so much Brian and the staff at Casa Del Mar!

Room 532….NO!!!!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We are currently here and booked a 4 nite trip as part of our California road trip and Casa Del Mar was the most expensive and only 5* hotel we’d booked yet turned out to be the only one we had issues with. Positives - Location Breakfast staff are brilliant Room decor Negatives No information given at check in. No welcome drink (included in resort fee) given to us.. we had to follow up. Breakfast is soo expensive.. $14 for a bagel. Parking is super expensive. Room 532… OMG!!! We returned at 10pm to our room vibrating, doors shaking and what can only be described as the worst AC type noise ever x10!!! We called for help and were told there was nothing that could be done by maintenance as the room is above the generator/ AC system for the hotel and some guests are ok but others find it unacceptable and we should request a room move.. At 10pm we found ourselves at reception who gave us a lesser basement room to sleep that night then in the morning we had to speak to a further 2 hotel staff and explain the saga again. We were moved to a nicer room thankfully and no further issues. However, moving room twice in a 4 night stay was not fun at all and impacted our stay when we’d paid a huge amount for this part of our trip. I am shocked the hotel puts guests in this room.

Truly a Luxury Experience

I almost never feel compelled to write a review, but Casa Del Mar is worth all of the praise. My wife and I just got back from five nights there, and we were pleased with every moment of our stay. The staff is incredible here -- everyone is so helpful and attentive. We spent a considerable amount of time at the serene pool deck, alternating between the pool and hot tub. The space is cozy and relaxing with a beautiful view of the Pacific. The lounge chairs are pillow-top -- some of the most comfortable loungers I've ever had on vacation! The staff at the pool deck -- particularly Jessica -- were so attentive and welcoming, greeting you with iced cold water as soon as you sat down and making sure you have any food or drinks that you could want. One morning, we even ordered room service for an early breakfast, and the crew helped us wheel the cart out onto the lower deck so that we could have our breakfast outside. The restaurant was incredible with, once again, beautiful sweeping views of the beach. We opted to do the Sunday Prime Rib Roast for dinner, which was delicious! You can watch the sunset over Santa Monica Pier while enjoying your meal and drinks. They have a lovely lobby bar that we took advantage of, and they have lots of lounge spaces where they will serve you drinks and food as well while you listen to live music nightly. One note -- breakfast was very good but very pricey. We also ate breakfast at the sister resort Shutters so we could sit out on the beach, but their breakfast is just as expensive. The room itself is gorgeous and so homey. It feels like walking into someone's charming living room with book shelves and books, bright colors, and lush carpets. The bed was really comfortable -- and that's coming from someone who almost always has back and neck aches when sleeping in a new bed on vacation. The bed is very high -- my wife said it gives new meaning to the expression "climb into bed" so be ready! We stayed on the fifth floor, which was so convenient to the pool deck. Casa Del Mar is one of the very few hotels directly on the beach, which made it easy for us to go for morning walks along the pedestrian path near the beach and stroll through the nearby Santa Monica Pier. Everything at this hotel was perfect -- if you're considering something else that might be a little less expensive, this is worth the splurge. We will be happy to return in the future!

I thought the hotel was spectacular. I have stayed in many 4- and 5-star hotels around the world, but never thought I would find such a beautiful hotel in Santa Monica.

I was fortunate enough to stay at Casa Del Mar my last two business trips. My room was very comfortable and well-appointed. The fluffy white bed and pillows – divine! The entire staff I encountered were helpful and courteous – from maids to wait staff in the lobby bar and restaurant. Everyone made me feel welcome – rockstar treatment though I'm far from that status. A peaceful haven after a busy day of work.
