Santa Monica Proper Hotel

10/10 stay. Santa Monica Proper completely won me over. Even before I arrived, Armando, the MD, reached out and was helpful and thoughtful. A really nice touch. My check-in experience deserves a callout. The front desk team was warm, efficient, and incredibly helpful. Service throughout the hotel was consistently excellent. The pool bar servers were wonderful, and I have to mention the chicory salad I ordered. It was so good I ordered it two days in a row. Craving it now! The gym was very well done, not a sad little hotel gym. I also loved the small touches, like the house made granola bars. So simple, but such a nice add. It goes without saying that the Kelly Wearstler design is gorgeous, but what impressed me most was how livable the space feels. Cozy corners everywhere, thoughtful details, and a vibe that feels elevated without being precious. What stood out most was the consistency. It wasn’t just one great interaction. Everyone I encountered, from the front desk to the restaurant team, clearly cared and went out of their way to be helpful. Beautiful design, great energy, and truly exceptional hospitality. I would absolutely stay here again.

We stayed at The Proper Hotel Santa Monica with our family and had the best trip. The hotel is beautiful, spotless, and thoughtfully designed in a way that feels calm and elevated. The food was excellent—fresh, healthy, and actually made us feel good. One of the biggest highlights for us was the scent-free environment. No overpowering fragrances anywhere, which meant we slept incredibly well (such a game changer, especially with kids). Every detail felt intentional, from cleanliness to comfort. It’s rare to find a hotel that feels this good for both adults and families. We’ll absolutely be back.

Negotiating the rate after the room was booked to try to get more money. Went from $200 to $150 upsale after 65000 pts Not good practice. Be careful!!!

The Santa Monica Proper gets me excited for LA trips. It has everything i need for a great travel stay: a range of beautiful indoor and outdoor meeting spaces enjoyed by both locals and travelers, incredibly delicious menus, luxurious marble bathrooms with Aesop amenities, the cutest pencils.and a friendly staff (in the best uniforms) who remember guests. The design, landscaping and unique lounge spaces will elevate your travel photos. Thank you to the staff and management for consistently exceptional stays!

A superb hidden gem! I absolutely LOVED everything about my day drinking and dining experience.. So much so that we had to stay the night. This had to be one of the best experiences I've had since Rosewood at Miramar beach.
