Santa Monica Proper Hotel

A superb hidden gem! I absolutely LOVED everything about my day drinking and dining experience.. So much so that we had to stay the night. This had to be one of the best experiences I've had since Rosewood at Miramar beach.

This is my third time staying at the Santa Monica Proper Hotel and, as usual, they didn’t disappoint. The rooms are beautifully designed (with extremely comfortable beds), the service is impeccable, and while the hotel is both luxurious and classy, they have somehow managed to make it quite «homey» and cosy. The interior designers deserve a medal, and also a thank you from me, as their beautiful choices have inspired some of my own home designs . When I stay at the Santa Monica Proper, I don’t feel like leaving the Proper-ty at all (pun intended;) and honestly - I don’t have to! From having breakfast and chilling by the pool in the morning, bringing my pc to the lounge bar, joining what almost feels like a social hub in the daytime, to having sunset aperitivo at the rooftop bar and dinner at La Calabra or Palma (both with excellent food and atmosphere) Santa Monica Proper is indeed a destination in itself. Thank you for another great stay. I can’t wait to come back!

After a change in management a while back we had a really negative anniversary experience. We vowed not to come back. I reached out to the GM and explained our experience. We were graciously gifted a complimentary stay and chose to try again. I can easily say that the hotel has come very far back in their level of hospitality and professionalism. We appreciate Armando Campos and the team for making us feel like family again!

We stayed at The Proper for 3 weeks when we were evacuated from our home during the Palisades fires. The hotel itself is wonderful. The rooms are a good size and the bathroom amenities are superb with Aesop toiletries. The staff made us feel as though we were honored guests and couldn't do enough for us. Because we were there for 3 weeks we got to know quite a few. So, when we needed to leave our home while it was being fumigated for 2 nights, we of course wanted to return to The Proper and our "friends." Again, a wonderful experience. The two restaurants, Palma and Calabra, are excellent. We will definitely be going back to dine. The fitness center has wonderful equipment and the Surya spa, which is on the property, is amazing. I highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for a 5 star experience.

Second time at the Santa Monica Proper. And just a wonderful experience. Great staff, great atmosphere, and the prettiest hotel gym around. Highly recommend.
