Latitude 10

When longtime friends Bob Florsheim and Rick Hughes decided to buy beachfront property in sleepy Santa Teresa, they had no plans to turn it into Latitude 10. They instead built a fantastical seaside escape for their friends – two casitas turned into five, built smartly into the Costa Rican jungle without cutting a single tree. Cobblestoned paths connect the bungalows, where a cool breeze flows through unhindered. Bob and Rick’s guest list expanded in 2006 when the property became a boutique hotel, but it retains the vibe of a summertime hangout. Surf lessons are de rigueur, followed by some serious relaxation by the infinity pool (which is maintained eco-consciously with salt and ionization).
