A Wonderful Place & Relaxing Getaway - Santa Teresa's Little Oasis

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

My wife and I did 5 days of our honeymoon in Santa Teresa and stayed at Hotel Nantipa. We had a rough start as there were a number of insects in our mantil bungalow upon our arrival. We believe that the cleaning staff left our room open when cleaning our room prior to our arrival. We quickly got the issue resolved and communicated with the front desk and staff to not leave our door open when cleaning and we did not have issues the rest of the way. I would expect a couple of bugs to sneak into your room over the course of your stay. It was disappointing and an uncomfortable welcome to kickoff our honeymoon but the issue got resolved. Despite the bugs we were welcomed with a sweet and thoughtful honeymoon gift and treat. I would like to thank Andrey and Carla for helping us resolve our critter issues. Andrey was always great and helpful throughout our stay. We appreciated him greatly. As for hotel nantipa and no more bugs, we had an incredible stay. We enjoyed the quiet and intimate feel of Nantipa despite being beachfront and right off the main road. It is in a central location to both walk up and down the beach and walk or drive/ATV to local restaurants on the main road. Our room came with a private plunge pool which was we used a few times, the temperature is friendly and it is peaceful. We enjoyed the hotel pool almost everyday after we would get off the beach. It is quiet, relaxing and nice with all the trees next to it. There was always someone there for poolside service for food and drinks. As for the beach it is just steps from your room. It is a beautiful beach with warmer temps. We enjoyed swimming in the shallower ends as you have to be careful of strong currents and riptides that were present each day. We had no issues be just check the flags prior to going out each day, there was a lifeguard just a few yards down the beach. We enjoyed breakfast every morning at manzu and it never disappointed. Our service was great, shoutout to Salvador for always providing great service. I would recommend getting the breakfast add-on when booking, it just made things easier and it is good food and a beautiful view to start each morning. We did not have a chance to do yoga or the spa, we spent more time exploring the charming and lively town of Santa Teresa and unwinding at Manzu beach club. The rooms were clean (despite our bug problem) the daily service included turndown and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was big and functional as well as the outdoor shower. The lush vegetation, beach, incredible sunsets and laid back vibe feel truly captures the Costa Rican lifestyle, pura vida. I would strongly recommend booking your next stay at Hotel Nantipa! We will be back.

Stay here for the best experience

The location, the staff, our room, the food was amazing. Yohn and Pricila at the restaurant were on top of it and just so delightful. We were able to eat out on the beach, if we preferred, or in the open air restaurant. The food was phenomenal. We enjoyed the location as it was right on the beach and on the main street in Santa Theresa. They had a beautiful pool, as well. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Inconsistent information and policy

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

I had a very disappointing experience at Nantipa due to their confusing and inconsistent visitor/guest policies. The rules were not clearly explained at check-in, and nowhere in the paperwork did it clearly state that you cannot have different visitors come to your room. The only thing mentioned was room capacity, which is not the same as saying no visitors are allowed. What made it worse was the night staff. They were rude, confusing, and made the situation unnecessarily uncomfortable. Instead of calmly explaining the policy, they acted accusatory and unprofessional. To make matters worse, different staff members gave different answers, and it was clear the team is not on the same page. This created stress during what should have been a relaxing stay. For the price and reputation, this level of communication and hospitality is unacceptable. I would not stay here again. I suggest if your social at all do not stay here because even if you just bring back one person and the other person is no longer staying in your room, they will be mean about it Also, I’ve never heard of a hotel where you can’t bring someone too, especially if it’s just for a night not even using the facilities They also claimed it was an insurance policy, which also doesn’t make sense because I’ve literally seen other people that are not staying at the hotel come into the hotel and use the actual facilities like the pool In addition, I never even signed the document that explains this so I don’t know how that’s even enforceable again. It only says about capacity not that you can’t change the people out at all. There’s also no manager at staff on night so that was very difficult because the girl at the front desk explained it a lot different than the manager did in the morning and they had conflicting reasons why so that doesn’t make sense

Relaxing by the ocean

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

My husband and I stayed at Nantipa for 6 nights and I cannot wait to go back. The stay included breakfast at their Manzú restaurant each day which offered multiple healthy, filling and delicious choices. We also had an excellent dinner with unique cocktails during our stay. The Ninta Beachfront Bungalow offers ocean views from the the bed and a large plunge pool. It was a very relaxing way to spend time after jumping in the ocean. The bed was very comfortable and the AC rooms stayed nice and cool. They have bug spray in the room for your use that smells nice and works well. There is a mini fridge with some buy options but also plenty of space to add any drinks you might purchase in town. There are walkable restaurants and shops nearby where you can find casual choices. We also worked with the concierge, Anthony, to book a surfing lesson. It was very fun but difficult. Worth at least trying if you have time. Anthony also went above and beyond with a large gift for us during our stay including fresh fruit (mango is amazing here), cookies and chocolate! The hotel also offers house keeping 2× a day with turndown including a chocolate and fresh flowers each day. There is no gym but since this is a wellness resort the focus is on classes like yoga/pilates. They offer a complimentary 7am yoga which had a different instructor/ flow each day. Well worth booking in advance. The other classes run thru the day with a cost and pre booking as well. If you're looking for luxury and personalized care this is definitely the resort to stay at.
