Nantipa - A Tico Beach Experience

I stayed 2 nights at Nantipa, and this was one of the properties where I really connected with the destination as much as with the hotel. Nantipa combines the beach, nature, privacy and the distinctive lifestyle of Santa Teresa in a way that feels very authentic. It has that relaxed Costa Rican feeling, but with the level of comfort and attention to detail I look for in a luxury property 💕 Even before I arrived, I was already very well taken care of by Sebastian, who helped me with everything from transfers and flights to all the details I needed for my arrival. Once I arrived, Carla, the concierge, took the time to explain the property, the activities and everything available during my stay, while Daniel also helped me on arrival with fresh towels and coconut water. The entire team was friendly, attentive, personal and proactive, and I appreciated how easy they made everything feel. I stayed in a Ninta Bungalow and absolutely loved it. The beachfront Ninta Bungalows are 80 m², with a private terrace, ocean views and direct access to the beach, and they are particularly lovely for couples and solo travelers. Nantipa also has Manti Bungalows for more privacy, Nanku Suites that work very well for families and small groups, and impressive three-bedroom beachfront villas. The villas are huge, spacious and very private, with direct beach access, a private pool, full kitchen and large living areas, making them an excellent option for families or groups who want plenty of space while still having everything within the property. Sebastian also took me around Santa Teresa and showed me a side of the destination that I think is important for travelers to understand. Santa Teresa is so much more than a surf town. There is a wonderful mix of restaurants, wellness, culture, beach and water activities, adventure and places where you can simply slow down and be. I also joined the complimentary yoga class during my stay (subject to room type and availability) which was a lovely way to experience the wellness side of the destination. I really enjoyed the food at Nantipa as well. Manzú, the beachfront restaurant, has a beautiful setting right on the sand, and I recommend the mushroom risotto paired with a good glass of wine. Breakfast was also excellent and felt like the perfect start to a day in Santa Teresa. For getting there, I would recommend taking the short domestic flight from San José to Cóbano rather than making the long journey by road. I recommend Green Airways if you have the option. The flight is very short, and from Cóbano it is only around a 20-minute transfer to Nantipa. Just make sure to check the baggage allowance before booking, as it varies depending on the fare. For me, Nantipa is a great choice for younger affluent travelers, couples, honeymooners, families and anyone looking for an authentic Costa Rican beach experience with a strong sense of place. It is intimate, beachfront and relaxed without feeling overly casual, and the combination of privacy, nature, wellness, food and the energy of Santa Teresa makes it very easy to enjoy at your own pace. And I think that is what I loved most: you can have a different kind of day every day. You can surf, take a yoga class, explore the town, enjoy the beach, try different restaurants, go out on the water, watch the stunning sunsets or simply do absolutely nothing. Santa Teresa has that wonderful balance between adventure and wellness, social energy and privacy, and Nantipa is a beautiful base from which to experience all of it. I travel to Nicoya frequently and always look forward to a stay at Nantipa. The staff is incredible as is the food on premise. The rooms are exquisite and I love the lush gardens. But there is nothing like waking up to yoga and then having breakfast in the most beautiful beach in Costa Rica.

Our stay at Hotel Nantipa was absolutely perfect! We are a family of 5 and we all agreed it is our #1 hotel as of this writing. The only regret we had was not staying there longer! As soon as we got out of our car, there was someone waiting to help with our luggages. Then we were greeted with the most refreshing coconut juice and minty, cold towels! It was the perfect way to start our stay after a hike and ziplining adventure. We loved our beautiful, clean room that just smells lovely. They gave us local alcoholic drink as a complimentary gift which my husband thought was wonderful. Our kids also got each their own small gift, and loved their surprise candies on their beds at night. It’s very special. The restaurant is situated perfectly right at the beach where we enjoyed our delicious food and drinks while watching the ocean waves. The sunsets are glorious on this part of the country! At night it is very quiet and all you can hear are the occasional howler monkeys, birds and the crashing of the waves. The staff were all attentive and pleasant; the service is outstanding. It’s family friendly hotel and it is worth every penny! We just got back home and we are already dreaming of the day we will be back at this magical place!! 🇨🇷☀️🌊
