Reviews for Eurostars Hotel Real

A wonderful hotel, excellent staff and great food.

This was my first visit to the Hotel Real - Santander, it certainly won't be my last. Thank you to all the staff from reception through to the kitchen staff. Upon arrival our taxi was met by a member of staff who whisked our bags away - soon to be seen again in our room. Smiling and welcoming staff on reception quickly booked us into our room which overlooked the sea. We booked in for four nights Dinner, Bed and Breakfast. Dinner was superb with a different menu each night. We were lucky in having a table with a lovely view towards the gardens. The Maitre'd - Alejandro and his assistant were excellent in explaining the menu and wines. In fact Alejandro came across as 'Mr Hotel Real'. What an asset he must be to the Hotel. Breakfast was served in the separate Breakfast Room or on the terrace. Again at Breakfast the staff were very attentive and clearly took pride in their work. Overall it would be hard to find fault in our five day stay. Santander is well worth a visit. We travelled with Brittany Ferries on overnight sailings from Plymouth.

The grand dame of Santander

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 months ago

I would prefer to give this a 4.5 rating . The hotel is a fine grand dame of the area. A lovely old style hotel with furnishings and fittings to match . A stunning terrace overlooking the bay which was a delight to sit on while having a drink or some of the hotels excellent food ( a great club sandwich) . All the staff were so friendly and helpful with a special mention to Almudena at the front desk who was a delight to deal with. The nightly turndown service was a bit hit and miss , some nights nothing and others just leaving chocolates on the bed but doing nothing else ! . Having visited a number of the hotels in the area , I would highly recommend the Real .

We had not even booked and just found the hotel by accident. The staff were very welcoming, the hotel very clean, and the food was wonderful! The room was clean and the bed was uber comfortable. We will definitely stay there again.

Not a 5* start hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed April 18, 2025

It’s a nice historical place, but it’s not a 5* start hotel, especially service wise. Upon both arrival and departure we had to carry our bags ourselves (even though we had 5 suitcases). We had an early departure and specifically asked at the reception the day before to pick up our luggage at 7:45. There was no one there at 7:45 or 7:50. Before that we had gone downstairs to have some breakfast and it was seemingly fully set, but apparently closed as we found out whilst drinking our morning coffee. Despite the fact we were already there, the person at the breakfast told us immediately to leave, because it’s closed. Apparently, there is a picnic service that is supposed to be prepared in cases of early departure, but 1) they did not tell us about it, when we approached them and warned we are leaving early and we need someone to pick up our luggage the day before the departure; 2) no picnic breakfast was ever provided. Overall, the rooms are alright, but again you expect something better from a 5* start hotel with a history.
