We stayed at the Mandarin for 2 nights before our Antarctica cruise. We chose this hotel because the cruise line uses this hotel. We’ve stayed at one other Mandarin, so I knew it would be nice, and it was. First, I was very impressed with the pool area - what a great way to relax for a few hours in the afternoon. However, the pool was freezing cold. I couldn’t really swim in it. The onsite restaurants were fantastic - we thought about going off property, but we loved the setting of the outdoor tables and the convenience of not having to Uber or walk anywhere in the evening. The neighborhood was safe, and we walked down to shop, eat and explore on the first day of our arrival, and we found the best little Italian place. So, we really liked the location. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We asked to have them hold a bag for us while we were on the cruise, and they happily did for a fee. If I were in Santiago again, I would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic experience, the staff is great (especially the Lounge staff), room was amazing and well appointed. Great location to get around Santiago, and even better when we could use hotel transportation. Highly recommend the hotel and the spa. Overall great trip and would stay here again.

My wife and I were travelling to Santiago from different places. Since my flight got delayed and she would arrive before me, I sent a message to Mandarin Oriental through Expedia to explain the situation and to require she could be able to check in, since the reservation was in my name. I received a reply from the hotel saying that ecerything was ok. Nothing else was asked from me. Once I finally reached Santiago and turned my phone back on, I was informed that my wife was wainting at the lobby for more than a hour, since she was denied check in because she wouldn't be able to informe, for guarantee purposes, the credit card with which the booking was made. Firstly, she was told tha I could inform the credit card number on the phone. Howerver, as the recepcionist changed, once we did so we were later told that it would be necessary to inform the number through a link that Mandarin would send over through Expedia. As I got the link, I informed the data and the recepcionist made mistake while filling the number in the card machine. At this point, whith the front desk full of people, the recepcionist told my wife that the card was declined. She insisted, as the recepcionist finally realized his mistake and got the card approved. My wife told everything to the manager, who apologized, but did not do anything further to compensate a poor start of a vacation. I sincerely had Mandarin in higher standards and we gor very disapointed about how things were handled. This events took place on the date of our arrival and the main recepcionist responsible was Ms. Sofia. I do not recall manager's name.
