Embracing a legacy of rich history dating back to the 15th century, Hodelpa Nicolas de Ovando Hotel is located on the first paved road of the New World, Calle Las Damas, in the heart of Santo Domingo’s historic Zona Colonial, designated a UNESCO Heritage Site. Comprising three stone houses and courtyards built in 1502, the historic building was the very first to be built on the country’s colonial land and the home of the town’s founder and first Spanish governor of the Americas, Nicolas de Ovando, and his companion Christopher Columbus.

The service was spectacular. It was our third stay at this amazing hotel and we had a great time with our family. The hotel is beautiful and clean. Very nice food and drinks. We would definitely come back to enjoy another vacation. Clara’s service at breakfast was great!

The hotel is amazing with history in every corner and located at the best point in the city. The breakfast was included and delicious, the staff friendly and so careful to service. Specially thanks to Clara Veliz for going out with the service!

My husband and I stayed at Holdelpa Nicolas de Ovanda for 3 nights. Everyone was so welcoming. Our introduction to the hotel and its history was done by Felix who took very good care of us. The rooms were very comfortable and I loved the little plaque in the room explaining the history. Everything is very tastefully done. The interior of the reception area is gorgeous. The breakfast options were excellent a good mix of local and international foods. A big shout out to Cindy for looking after us. This was our first but definitely not our last visit to the hotel.

We got a warm welcome and enjoyed a glass of prosecco by the pool while we waiting for our room to be ready. The room wasn't large but perfectly adequate complete with foot massager! There are lots of places to sit and take in the atmosphere. The pretty gardens make the hotel seem very tropical with open air dining.
