Embracing a legacy of rich history dating back to the 15th century, Hodelpa Nicolas de Ovando Hotel is located on the first paved road of the New World, Calle Las Damas, in the heart of Santo Domingo’s historic Zona Colonial, designated a UNESCO Heritage Site. Comprising three stone houses and courtyards built in 1502, the historic building was the very first to be built on the country’s colonial land and the home of the town’s founder and first Spanish governor of the Americas, Nicolas de Ovando, and his companion Christopher Columbus.

Have you ever been travelling with someone and thought, I need to know every detail of their life. At this hotel, you can! There is a weird window to the bathroom that is not fully frosted, so you can peek right in and see everything! Don't worry, you can hear everything, too! It's very helpful when you're travelling on a group tour and sharing a room with someone you met an hour ago. Besides that, the Wi-Fi is spotty, the lobby constantly smells like someone broke a bottle of cologne in there, and they might go ahead and lock the fridge in your room for vague and mysterious reasons, so no cold water for you!
