Modeled after a modern Balinese village, the resort invites guests to discover the fascinating old and new. The beachfront resort is carefully built around existing mature landscape, lending it a homey and lush ambience, much like Sanur itself.

We spent 3 nights in a Garden Pool Villa with 1 King Bed. We booked using Points (60,000 for the 3 nights, which I value at a total of $1,080) for a base 1 King Bed room, and used a Suite Upgrade Award to upgrade to an Andaz Suite. At check-in we were informed that we had been further upgraded to a Garden Pool Villa with 1 King Bed, which was very much appreciated – the perks of being a Lifetime Globalist! Location 4/5: The resort is right next to the Hyatt Regency, and right on the beachfront of Karang Beach in Sanur. It’s also within walking distance of many bars, restaurants, cafes, shops, etc. It took us about 20 minutes to walk to the new ICON mall. The beach in front of the hotel is very well kept, although, for my Greek standards nothing to write home about. Overall, though, I think the location is very good. Cleanliness 5/5: Excellent job by the housekeeping team, the room, outdoor area and pool were spotless. Service 5/5: Excellent service everywhere, from the restaurant, to housekeeping, to front desk. Professional and with a smile. Seems they have had really good training. Food (Breakfast) 4/5: The breakfast here is a big deal, and many people rave about it. You order “all you can eat” from an a la carte menu, and this, as I discussed with one of the servers, leads to huge food waste, as people will order, take photos, take a bite, and leave the rest. A lot of the food ends up feeding local pigs I was told. That’s a shame, and I believe the management should change their policy. Drop the price and say 3-4 dishes max. What I tried was very Instagramable, so very good looking, but taste wise is was just OK. I still give it 4/5 (very good) because of the service and the looks. Room 5/5: The Garden Villa is great. Especially the bathroom, it’s gorgeous. Not sure how I feel about the fish swimming in the small pond surrounding half the villa. Loved the small kitchenette and the included snacks and drinks, and the small walk-in closet. Overall, great design, great looks. And the dipping pool is great too. Common areas 5/5: The gardening and landscaping team deserved a bonus, they keep everything perfect. It’s a beautiful property. Value for Money 5/5: For the rate we paid, it was excellent value for money. If I had paid this rate for a base room, maybe not. Bonus points for sustainable practices: Nothing worth mentioning. • Location (10%) 4/5 • Cleanliness (10%) 5/5 • Service (15%) 5/5 • Food (Breakfast) (10%) 4/5 • Room (25%) 5/5 • Common Areas (5%) 5/5 • Value for Money (25%) 5/5 • Bonus points for sustainable practices: N/A • TOTAL: 4.8 / 5 = 5/5

This was the fourth hotel in Bali we chose to finish up our honeymoon trip, and the Andaz did not disappoint. We had booked a King Oceanview Lagoon-access Suite, and we were pleasantly surprised with the view and the room itself. Aside from having lower ceilings than preferred (every other hotel in Bali we visited had soaring ceilings), the room layout and furnishings were fantastic. They did a nice little decoration on the bed and brought us some treats our first night as well for our honeymoon. The lagoon access (aka swim-up terrace) was nice in theory, but the water was too cold to enjoy. I actually got colder the longer I stayed in the water, and it took a while for me to warm up again once I got out. We enjoyed the breakfasts at their restaurants, and we had a couple dinners at Fisherman's Club as well. All of our food was solid, and there were some standouts at Fisherman's Club that I suspect I will think about again. We spent 4 nights at Andaz, and while it was the least luxury hotel we visited in Bali, we really enjoyed it. The free snacks in the room were a nice touch too!

I would personally not stay here again! Do yourself a favour and book the Hyatt Regency adjacent to the Andaz. The Regency Club is pure bliss. The setting is stunning as is the staff that are all truly standouts in every way! The Andaz is a much newer property. The rooms are quite a bit larger but, apart from that, the Andaz falls far short of the neighbouring Hyatt. Hyatt was a finely oiled machine whereas the Andaz staff wise is a real work in progress to sum up my experience!

Two of our three rooms infested with some type of lice, which fell off the wood above the beds and from the bamboo enclosing the bathroom. These insects got on our pillows, sheets, and clothes. We talked to the front desk, but they would only change rooms. Went from one room with a few of these insects to a room with more. Ruined two nights of our 4 night stay, as we were concerned we had head lice and had treatment. Regency would probably have been better value with less stress.
