I completely agree with the comments made by Gratianne L. (Business traveler, stayed on 9/15/2025). I am currently staying at the Gran Mercure Vila Olimpia in São Paulo, and sadly, her words resonate with me in every corner of this experience. The location is excellent, the front desk welcome sincere and kind, and the breakfast more than acceptable. But once you close the door of your room, reality tells another story. The space itself is not the problem—the size is generous, the views are fine. What hurts is everything else: the bathroom walls scarred with stains and scratches, the loose sockets that whisper neglect, the absence of something as simple as an iron, which in almost any hotel allows a weary traveler to restore dignity to their clothes after a long journey. These may seem like small things, but it is always the details that speak the loudest. They are what transform a stay into either comfort or disappointment. A true 5-star experience is not built only on what shines at first glance, but on the quiet care given to what the guest discovers inside. Here, unfortunately, those details are forgotten, and with them, the magic of hospitality fades. I am supposed to stay here for 42 nights, but honestly, I don’t know if I will make it through the whole stay. It is day 1 (9/24/25) and I’m considering whether I should look for an alternative.

I stayed here for a few days on business. It is a Mercure hotel, well-appointed and with friendly and courteous service. The rooms have a huge bed, are comfortable and clean. The bathroom has branded amenities, a strong shower and hot water. Breakfast and dinner are served with friendly and attentive service, and there are a variety of delicious buffet options. Any negative points? Yes. Check-in is slow, with a lot of bureaucracy and few staff. The location is in a non-tourist area.

I left a pair of expensive earrings on the desk in my room on check out. I notified my colleague to go to my room to retrieve them. The hotel staff would not let them up in the room to go check. They left my phone number to contact when they were found and no phone call ever came. I returned to the hotel one week later and spoke to the manager and she said that they were never found. The person that cleaned the room stole them and the hotel never did anything to help me. Live and learn but please do not leave your room with anything of any value behind. You never know who goes in and out of your room. If it wasn’t for my company, I would never return to the hotel.
