Hotel Sosei Sapporo – MGallery Colleciton is a 21st-century reinterpretation of a Sapporo pioneer’s residence. A living tribute to the city’s heritage where past meets present, East meets West, and timeless sophistication meets modern comfort. The hotel features 118 rooms and suites. In tribute to the city’s pioneer legacy, the guest rooms embrace the essence of Japanese-Western fusion, creating comfortable spaces where distinctive features from both worlds harmoniously coexist.
Sapporo, the birthplace of Japanese beer, continues this legacy today. While references to this tradition can be found throughout the hotel, it is in the restaurant that you can truly explore this universe. In this gastronomic eatery, the decoration is inspired by old German breweries. On the menu? Locally influenced culinary dishes with international twists, as well as a wide selection of fish purchased at the fish auctions in the sprawling city market – an age-old practice still appreciated today.

Room: Excellent Front desk staff: Excellent Location: Average Dining: The food was excellent, and the service was excellent overall, except for one staff member. One small, slim Japanese staff member (possibly a manager) appeared to be drunk and was shouting angrily at a subordinate in front of guests. It is unacceptable to witness what seemed like workplace harassment in front of customers. As a result, our Christmas dinner was very uncomfortable and left us with a bad feeling.

Hotel Sosei delivered a genuinely thoughtful and well-rounded stay. The service stood out immediately—warm, attentive, and consistent. A special mention to the lounge team: our younger boy has medical needs and uses an NGT, yet the staff engaged with him daily with such ease, respect, and sincerity. He was never treated as “different,” only included as much as possible, and that level of care meant more to us than words can capture. The bartender deserves credit as well—excellent drinks, confidently made. We also kept returning to the miso ramen; simple, comforting, and very well executed. We opted to upgrade our room, and the additional space made a meaningful difference to our comfort and overall enjoyment. Location-wise, the hotel is well placed—close to malls and the main shopping street, making it easy to get around. The breakfast buffet wasn’t the most extensive, but the quality was good and thoughtfully curated—more than sufficient to start the day well. Overall, a hotel that pairs quality with humanity. We would happily return and highly recommend Hotel Sosei.

After a long road trip around Hokkaido, we came back to Sapporo for a few nights back in the urban jungle to relax and do some shopping. The Hotel Sosei was chosen for the reviews and also the location, walking distance to the shopping areas. The Hotel: Very uniquely designed and very appealing, which stands out from the rest of the hotels in Sapporo. It was pretty easy to find and the staff were all super welcoming and helpful. Although the lobby is small, the hotel is actually spread out and not cramped. On the first floor is a relaxed bar that also doubles as the executive lounge, serving drinks and canapés in the late afternoon/early evening. The Room: A good size and big enough for two people to spread out and open luggage etc. the kind bed was softer than other hotels but the pillows and duvet were perfect. We both appreciated the USB C points either side of the bed. The bathroom was really nice and the separate shower and bathtub were great. Overall, we slept well and had a very cosy stay. Breakfast was more western than Japanese - not a complaint at all - and the quality was very good indeed. The tea/coffee selection was jolly good and overall food quality was very high. I’d recommend including the breakfast if you can. I would definitely recommend staying here if you’re needing some luxury in a good location in downtown Sapporo.

I stayed here for the second time in 3 months. I love the location. The hotel is in between Sapporo station and Susukino. The hotel is so serene and peaceful, a perfect place to relax. Opposite the hotel was Sapporo factory, which has some shops, restaurants and supermarket. Which was super convenient. I was checking in by the new staff called Mr.Boss. He was very efficient and capable. He took such a good care of us like we were family for the rest of our stay. In my opinion he is an asset to the team. The concierge Akkio San was very helpful with my online order and Mr. Hiro at the bar was very generous and helpful to us as well. It’s impossible to mention everyone by name but all the staff are wonderful, most of them remember our family. Very impressed. Wish to see them again.
