Terrible hotel, theft and lack of ethics

Terrible hotel! We experienced theft inside our room, the hotel management’s only feedback was that we are responsible of our stuff!

All good but the food......

We went here with little expectations but as this was half way between home and the Mediteranean it seemd the right thing to do. The room we were offered was very stylish. A fireplace, beautiful decorated and all boxes for a 5* rating were ticked. The bed was very soft but not a major issue for 2 nights. The shower was a challenge to get working properly but also here no major issues. We we booked for 1 night in the bistro, which was excellent value for money and very tasty and 1 night at the 2* restaurant. Both my wife and i were dissapointed. She had the vegetable menu and i the regular one. Underwhelming and really not even worth a star. We are very sorry to say but the food is not star worthy at the moment. The staff was friendly but we were served by a waiter who did not know his cheeses and that also gave an awkward feeling.......Finally the spa, what a treat! Amazing and nothing but praise for such a wonderful place. The hotel all in all deserves 4* but the restaurant needs a Michelin visit, and quick!

Quelle Déception:

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the years, dating back to its very early days. Much has changed in terms of both size and reputation. On our recent two night visit we were extremely disappointed in several aspects. First it must be said that the staff members, without exception, were welcoming, charming and professional. However the building itself has changed a lot over the years and is now in need of considerable upgrading, particularly the extensive wooden structures on the garden side which look very dilapidated. The garden itself has been a feature but is now very overgrown and unkempt. It looks as thought it has been taken over by the "Rewilders"! Some of the features are almost obscured, such as the charming figure of a young lady reading a book. This was easily viewed from the dining room but is now only fully visible from a couple of tables. We stayed in one of the "Cocon" suites. It was very disappointing. The bed was on a raised plinth in the middle of quite a small room and closed in by sliding rattan doors, with a strange canopy overhead. Getting up at night was hazardous because the doors unless fully open gave no support and there was a significant step down. ?Fractured hips for the elderly? The bath is open to the main room with only a mobile screen and the bathroom was small and inconvenient with very little area to place objects, The whole design is disjointed and lacks continuity of style as though it has been put together to use up unwanted pieces. The restaurant food was fine but not exceptional as it used to be. We had meals at other 2-star and 1-star restaurants on this trip which were much better. All in all very disappointing. Will we be back? Unlikely sorry to say.

Absolutely worth it! You must visit.

Myself, husband, and 7 year old daughter just had the most amazing stay here. We found the accommodation last minute and made a call to the hotel. Reception staff were lovely, speaking perfect English. Multiple room options were given. We arrived after a long drive, and instantly, we were made feel comfortable with all needs catered for. The room itself was stunning. The bed was so comfortable as was the sofa bed for our child. Amenities galore. We visited the spa on our first morning during child friendly hours. What an experience! World class. And complimentary for accomodation guests. First night, we dined at the Bistro. Very relaxed, but service was perfect. Delicious food. The second night, we spoiled ourselves and dined in the Michelin star restaurant on site. Although service and food were of the highest class, the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. We took our 7 year old daughter with us. She was provided with her own "kid friendly" menu and made feel welcome and included. I could write so much more about this accommodation but it is best just to say that it is definitely worth a visit. The story of Bernard Loiseau and the amazing women who have continued his legacy is inspiring. As far as the region is concerned, Dijon is not far and worth a visit. As is the Parc de l'Auxois - great for the family.

Not what we expected

Lovely, well maintained property boasting a Restaurant La Côte d’Or 2* Michelin which drew us to this place on our way home from Bordeaux. Also came recommended by a family member who had stayed before. We would not come back. Although the main restaurant was excellent, the Bistro, bearing the Bernard Loiseau name was unacceptable. If staying two nights at the Relais then the Bistro should offer a nice option for an alternative meal - it really isn't and this is why we would not return.
