Panoramic views of the sparkling San Francisco Bay and verdant Marin headlands are the centerpiece of Cavallo Point Lodge – part of the LVX collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts. Entrenched in rolling hilltops bordering the Pacific ocean, this former US Army post harbors an exclusive location with unique amenitites. Originally built as Fort Baker in the early 1900s, historic lodgings were once military barracks during World War II. Ideally located at the northern tip of the Golden Gate Bridge, minutes to San Francisco hot spots, the quaint town of Sausalito, and incredible national parks; enjoy the ease of exploring the bay from the center of it all. Not only are accommodations beautiful and rare, this hotel is also a LEED Gold certified eco-resort.

You are basically staying in barracks with a somewhat nicer mattress. There are no upgrades to make it a "luxury" location, and to charge the luxury prices that they charge is outrageous. However, the way that they charge you, you don't realize that you are paying about $800 a night for basically a decent motel room. The bathroom sink is in the bedroom, the bed is on a huge and incredibly heavy and sharp platform that bruised my shins every time I tried to walk squeeze past it, the pillows were hard and terrible, there was nowhere to store our clothes other than a closet to hang things - we had to spread our clothes over the 2 chairs in the room. No couch. No table to put anything on. The floors creaked very loudly when you walked across the room, and you had to lug your suitcases up and down a very narrow and steep staircase. There was a nice, huge field out front that was great to run around on for dogs and kids - but the only things that they had to provide to play with was literally a broken frisbee and an old velcro sticky vest with a couple of balls.

Most comfortable bed ever. And the front desk supplied me with the model and make of the bed so I can get my own! Our time was way too short but we did get in a dinner at Le Garage with my old roommate. Spectacular grounds and view.

Absolutely breathtaking views of the Golden Gate Bridge, especially at night. The staff there are top notch. I would highly recommend this place. Definitely worth the price.

A hidden gem, this resort is stunning. Great views of the city, bridge, etc. such a great getaway! The historic rooms (the only ones I stay in) are stunning - a combination of comfortable and elegant all in one. The spa is amazing, the bar and restaurant are so great and there is so much more offered that I don't even experience (cooking classes, yoga, etc.). You will not regret booking this!

Very lucky to have the most spectacular view of the Golden Gate Bridge at this place! The staff and amenities were awesome. We don't think you can find a better place to stay here.
