Reviews for Cavallo Point Lodge

Gorgeous property, but a few gaps to know before booking (especially for groups)

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 10 hours ago

We stayed here for a girls' staycation. The property is beautiful — great views, lovely event spaces, great location. I'd recommend it for a couple's getaway, solo trip, or event venue. Nice touches: Dyson hair dryers, plenty of towels, and good on-property food. I'd hesitate to recommend it for a group trip, though. We chose this hotel specifically for the spa pool, hot tub, sauna, and lounge — I even called ahead before booking to confirm hotel guests had spa access, and was told yes, during spa hours (which are great: open until 9pm weekends, from 8am, vs. the usual 10-6). We planned our whole itinerary around that. On arrival, we learned the spa is separately owned, and 2-hour passes must be booked in advance — even for hotel guests. One day, passes were completely sold out. Frustrating, since it was our main reason for booking, and the 2-hour cap felt restrictive and limiting flexibility with our itenerary. The front desk was calm, professional, and upfront about the miscommunication, and offered a room upgrade as a goodwill gesture (much appreciated — the room was lovely). Still, we'd have preferred accurate info up front so we could've picked a hotel that actually fit our group's plans. Similar issue with the e-bikes: advertised as an amenity, but with 142 rooms/suites there are only four bikes, first-come-first-served. We never got our ride in. A few smaller notes: the historic rooms do have that old, musty smell other reviews mentioned. Welcome drink is only 4-6pm - I tend to like the welcome drink offered even if you arrive say at 3pm or 7pm. Minibar snacks (trail mix, popcorn) felt small and generic, not local or special. In-room notes were printed, not handwritten — felt impersonal. No text-the-front-desk option, and no blackout shades. Overall: beautiful property with lovely details, but the spa miscommunication and limited bikes made it a tough fit for our group. We booked both historic and contemporary rooms - my vote is for the contemporary in terms of design and overall comfort. Great for a couple or solo stay — just confirm pool access 2-hour appointment in writing prior if that's a priority

Great historic property at the Golden Gate.

From the moment we arrived we felt the warmth of the property. This was such an historic property. The grounds were well maintained. We stayed in a contemporary room with a Golden Gate View. It was beautiful. My daughter and her boyfriend stayed in a historic room. We all enjoyed a wonderful 4th of July weekend. We did use the Lexus car service and that was great. Shuttle service to Sausalito was another nice touch. We will be coming back to this property in the near future.

This spacious and modern decorative room offers an incredible view. The valet and golf cart services are top-notch, providing convenient pick-up and drop-off. The friendly staff is exceptional, ensuring a wonderful experience. Everything about this place is amazing, making it a must-visit. Watercolor class made this stay even more exceptional!

Stay longer if you can!

The entire experience was exceptional. We were clearly on the younger end of the guest list, but we had a fabulous stay. It's always a bit concerning when we as a young 30's couple of color visit a buisness frequented mostly by older white people.

Beautiful getaway close to home

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

My husband and I visit here yearly to either celebrate our anniversary or as a before Christmas overnight getaway. It's only 30 mins from our home but feels like we're farther away. The grounds and rooms are beautiful and worth the price and the food at Sula and Farley is delicious. Sausalito main street is only about 1.5 miles away but really, you don't need to leave the property. There's enough to enjoy from the trails, spa, fitness center or just enjoying the room.
