Reviews for Cavallo Point Lodge

Amazing weekend away!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

This was our third trip to Cavallo Point and we intend on making this a yearly event. It is just an outstanding place to spend a fall weekend. Gorgeous grounds and views, plenty to do and see, and an exceptional staff. The rooms are well appointed and we feel pampered every time.

So much potential, so poor at execution

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

While the area is beautiful and quite convenient to enjoying Marin and San Francisco, they do not live up to their potential. Especially as a premium priced resort. The elements are there, but the execution is just so poor. It is difficult for me to mention, because the people are nice, but their experience and knowledge leaves so much to be desired. They are undertrained and are not given the tools to succeed or solve any issues. This was true throughout the system, from reservations, front desk, and concierge. One quick example. I wanted to change my reservations from two days to three days. It was a 40 minute conversation because they had to cancel all of my rooms and then rebook me, rather than just adding a night. In addition, they have numerous pricing options and the reservation agents are not fully up to speed on them. As such, it is entirely up to you to pick. I would rate the reservations process as somewhat akin to dealing with a used car salesperson, both in temperament and truthfulness. I was charged $300 more for my stay, per room, than i was told. The front desk was unwilling to make the change. This is a property and resort that is desperately in need of a five star manager that can make the experience live up to the cost and the potential that it has.

Beautiful but not perfect

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Stunning location and grounds. Design and overall feel beautiful. Great food options on site. Tasty complimentary coffee and pastries in a morning and evening wine. Housekeeping and valet great. Disappointing view of bridge considering we paid more for a bridge view. Top 3rd of one tower of the bridge isn't a bridge view in our opinion. Particularly when stopping for our honeymoon. It didn't seem any extra effort or care was given to our special occasion. Majority of activities advertised are weekend only which was a shame given we were there Monday - Friday. Thanks to housekeeping for the little treats left in our room.

A unique spot to stay or dine in the Bay Area

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This is an amazing property right at the base of the GG bridge on the Marin side. The grounds are expansive, the (new remodeled) rooms are spacious and comfortable with great views, and the restaurant (Sula) is absolutely first class! This is a relaxing way to spend time in the Bay Area, so close to San Francisco, yet quiet and peaceful, with amazing views of the city and bridge!

This Place Rocks

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

One of the best places to stay in the Bay Area/ Marin. It seems to be a "hidden gem" in plain site. Great rooms, beautiful, historic grounds and on of the best views ANYWHERE. Rooms are very spacious and confortable and the right rooms have incredible views from their deck. Sit on the porch in the morning enjoying a great breakfast and watch gigantic ships pass under the Golden Gate.
