The DeSoto

Really disappointed with our stay. I’ve stayed at The DeSoto several times, and unfortunately, each visit seems to be worse than the last. The location is perfect and the staff is always friendly and accommodating, but the hotel itself is in serious need of improvement. Our bathroom plumbing backed up through no fault of our own, flooding the floor and bringing brown sewage up through the shower. The staff responded quickly and moved us to another room, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, the second room had a strange smell and an extremely loud AC unit that made it difficult to sleep. Overall, the hotel rooms and furnishings are very worn and dated. The DeSoto used to be my favorite hotel in Savannah, so it’s especially disappointing to see how far it has gone downhill. We won’t be staying here again.

We stayed for our anniversary. I had an issue with the upgrades before the stay but they were kind enough to upgrade us to a better room. The hotel in all was okay. The room as a whole was good but there were things that we did not like. The mirror in our bathroom was messed up. The shower water would randomly lower the pressure to almost nothing and the water would turn freezing then go back to being hot. They didn’t have a rob. There is no room service. I did really enjoy the late checkout and the staff were very nice. I did enjoy the history of the hotel as well as the view from our room.

Always love staying at the DeSoto when we are in Savannah. Perfect location, comfortable beds and friendly service. Charlie and Curtis at the valet made our day with their infectious smiles and kindness.

Hotel is beautiful, valet was easy and accessible. Staff were friendly and helpful! The room was clean and cozy with windows that open for fresh air. The bed was extremely comfortable with the BEST pillows I’ve ever had at a hotel!

We were very happy with our room and how opulent the hotel was. Everything was clean and our view was spectacular. I wanted to make special mention of Kelvin who was working the front desk when my wife and I arrived. Our flights were over nine hours behind schedule and as a result we arrived well after midnight. Kelvin made us feel welcomed, helped us with a room upgrade, and patiently and courteously walked me through the pricing changes. After a long day of dealing with airline shenanigans he was the perfect person to interact with to make us feel like we were finally on our vacation.
