Reviews for The DeSoto

Hotel just missed on so many levels

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We stayed at the DeSoto for Labor Day weekend. Our first impression was the valet asking for a tip before we even gave him the keys to our vehicle. There was no concierge service or help to your room with luggage at check in or check out. Check in was seemless as we pre checked in on line. The front desk personnel were very friendly. The room was clean and resembled that of a low to mid priced chain hotel. Nothing special. The Iron was missing and when I addressed it as there was also a pre authorization charge of $150 for incidentals or room damage I was told not to worry about it as I wouldn’t be charged. There was also a business card on the dresser Essentially acting as a reminder to tip The maid service. This seemed odd as the hotel was also offering $10 a day credit toward food purchase not to have daily maid service. The bed was also extremely firm which for my husband and I was too firm and lent for sleepless nights. I don’t see us returning as there are so many unique lodging offerings in Savannah and unfortunately this felt like a very over priced holiday inn.

Best Valet crew EVER.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

5 stars for the Valet crew. Curtis, Charlie, Jalen, Deandre, and all the others went above and beyond for us. Unbelievable hospitality from that crew. I’m on crutches during this trip, and these gentlemen would practically run to me each time they saw me and offer any and all assistance we needed, Thanks again gentlemen! You all are the BEST!!!! We didn’t even have a vehicle there…. They just truly care that much!!

The DeSoto: An Amazing Experience

Excellent experience. The hotel staff was amazing. The historic downtown was full of food, site seeing, and very friendly people. Charlie at the valet was absolutely great. Fast and friendly service. We will definitely be making a trip back.

Needs maintenance and more thoughtful housekeeping to live up to its potential

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I really wanted to like the hotel. The front desk staff was so kind and helpful. Overall there was a good vibe. But, the first room we were put in had mold growing all over the ceiling, and the floors and bed had visible debris on them. The room we were moved to and slept in was better, but still had many aesthetic and functional flaws and felt stuffy. The pillows were like bricks and the air in both rooms didn't go below 72 even when set on 65. With four of us in there after a hot summer day, it was not pleasant.
