Girls Weekend Home Base

Kimpton is one of my preferred brands when traveling. This Kimpton could use a little finesse, but overall was a good experience. Rooms were comfortable, a little tired, but not a major detractor. Social hour was nice - especially the extended nature of of it. Restaurant food was great. Service was solid - especially Brian at the front desk and Peter in the restaurant. There were other staff members we interacted with who were less service oriented, but those that went above and beyond made up for it. A few details made it feel less Kimpton-like than usual. Morning coffee was a mess and mostly depleted during the stay. Restaurant team warned us of long wait times on Saturday evening one night - even though we just wanted a night cap. We stayed and it was great overall and with quick service but you could tell they had been overwhelmed earlier. Breakfast was good, but slow. I would say don't expect the standard Kimpton experience here, but don't cross it off your list based on that. Location is off the main drag but walkable to just about everything.

This was a stay in comfort, nay, in the lap of luxury - a memory we will really treasure for years to come.

We stayed here two nights and it was an outstanding experience. We were celebrating our golden wedding anniversary and we had booked two rooms. We were joined by our daughter and her young family in a second bedroom. Overall, this was a stay in comfort, nay, in the lap of luxury - a memory we will really treasure for years to come. Did I forget to say this looked like a welcoming place even as one arrives at the front desk? Spacious, airy and light, the foyer exudes genuine warmth. Possibly, another factor for the warmth may be caused by convection, as it is adjacent to their restaurant- Italian kitchen + bar called Pacci! Excellent freshly brewed coffee (and tea) is served here gratis in the morning. This is a special treat that should not be missed! (Non-dairy milk was unfortunately not catered for). The bedrooms are large and has an air of luxury about it. The four poster bed has the softest mattress, possibly almost akin to memory foam. Sink into it and sweet slumber overtakes you! Housekeeping was excellent with fresh towels and supplies provided. There is plenty of storage space as also electric sockets and USB outlets. The walk in shower provided ample running hot water. The hand wash basin is well illuminated and has a shaving mirror offering 5x magnification - a significant addition for men with a smooth chin. While on the obligatory tourist’s trolley ride we learnt from our guide that the premises was in its previous incarnation, a Coca Cola bottling plant. Its transformation then into a luxury hotel is truly mind boggling. In hindsight, one wished a small part of the bottling plant was preserved for posterity/ hustory. But surely there were good corporate reasons why that may not of course have been feasible because I’m certain someone else would have considered that prospect too!

Disappointed. This is billed as a four star hotel -nope! Not up to Kimpton standards.

Four star hotel? Not even close. The only thing that was four star was the price. Common areas were filthy and rundown. The restaurant was expensive and the food quality and service were very poor. Definitely not on our revisit list!

Not up to Kimpton Standards

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Stayed at the Brice this weekend and was really disappointed as a big fan of the Kimpton brand. Hotel had way too many dogs (had to navigate around a dog puddle in hotel corridor on way to get morning coffee), carpet in hotel corridors was stained and old, and staff seemed generally disinterested. Overall a poor showing by a normally great brand.

Disappointing Experience at Kimpton Brice Hotel – Not the Birthday Weekend I Expected

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I stayed at the Kimpton Brice Hotel for my birthday weekend, and I can’t help but feel incredibly let down by the overall experience. While I was initially impressed by the warm welcome from the valet, front desk staff, and even the restaurant manager (Shakiria, who graciously gifted me a birthday dinner at Pacci), the rest of my stay was a nightmare. The hotel is dog-friendly, which is great since I was traveling with my pup, Dax. However, the issues arose when I encountered a group of college kids who seemed to be staying on the same hallway as me. The noise was unbearable, and it was clear from the start that they were going to be a problem. On Friday evening, as I was heading out to dinner, I was greeted with ridiculously loud music blaring from one of the rooms at around 6 PM. At that time, I didn’t think much of it – it’s Friday night, after all. But things quickly went downhill. By midnight, when I returned to the hotel, the group returned to their rooms and proceeded to be as loud as possible in the hallways. While this noise didn’t last as long that night, it still disrupted my sleep. Saturday was a bit of a wash after that, but I made the best of it and headed out to the farmers market with Dax. We came back exhausted, hoping for some rest before dinner. Unfortunately, the college kids had other plans. They were running back and forth, yelling, and antagonizing the dogs. Every time a dog barked, they’d bark back, which just escalated the chaos. This went on for hours, and I couldn’t get any rest. By the time it was bedtime, I was beyond frustrated. 2 AM came, and the noise got worse. Yelling, whistling, banging on doors – it felt like the party was never going to stop. I called the front desk, and the staff member on duty was kind and tried her best to calm the situation. She was aware of the issue and was doing everything she could to control the chaos, but unfortunately, things continued to escalate. By 3:45 AM, I called again to follow up, and at that point, I was in tears from exhaustion. The staff member was clearly frustrated too, as it was just her on duty and she couldn’t get management or the police involved in time. The noise didn’t stop, and at that point, I was left with only a few hours of broken sleep. Sunday morning, I asked to speak to the manager, hoping to address the situation. When I spoke to her, she immediately knew who I was and apologized. She said she would be compensating me for a day or two and explained that the cause of the disturbance was a group of “entitled fraternity guys and their girlfriends.” Not exactly what I wanted to hear, but at least she acknowledged the issue. However, that still didn’t make up for the complete lack of sleep or the frustration I felt over the whole situation. When I left the hotel early Sunday morning, I was beyond exhausted, and I couldn’t even enjoy my final moments in Savannah. It was the worst stay I’ve ever had, and for a Kimpton hotel, I expected better. I felt like my concerns were dismissed, and there was no real action taken to address the situation. It’s clear that this hotel has a serious issue with noise control, if you are looking for rest and relaxation this isnt it and based on my experience, I’ll be staying elsewhere next time I visit Savannah.
