Reviews for Thompson Savannah

Excellent quick stay – would definitely return

Arrived late after a long drive and left early the next morning. The room was spotless and very comfortable, which was exactly what we needed. Breakfast at the rooftop restaurant was excellent. We didn’t get to enjoy everything the hotel has to offer, but what we saw was impressive and we would 10/10 stay here again. Especially nice as an Amex Business Platinum holder. Great location and friendly staff. Highly recommend!

35th Anniversary Stay - LOVELY HOTEL

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We visited Savannah for the 1st time for our 35th Anniversary. We selected the Thompson due to the location and modern style. We are SO glad we did. We booked a Riverfront View and were in Room 1207 on on the top floor right beside the penthouse suite (WOW, that one was amazing). We had a beautiful unobstructed view of the river. The room was spacious. The bathroom was beautiful and the toiletries smelled divine! We loved the atmosphere in the lobby and the surrounding area. They have a house car (A SUPER COOL TESLA) that got us around town as we needed as availability afforded it. Don't forget to tip your driver. We had Allen, Justin, and Mackayla. All were amazing, prompt and friendly. We spent the first night at Bar Julian, Paul is great and the food and drinks amazing. Thanks for the bubbles sent to our room the first night. We had brunch there one morning and while the food was delicious, service needs improvement. Each evening, there is a happy hour in the lobby from 4-6pm that includes drink specials, oyster specials (delicious and FRESH) as well as a piano player / singer. Great ambiance. We were blessed to have amazing and friendly bartenders. Justin, Liam, and Bella were top notch. Bella was also our server at the pool for two days and she is so kind, helpful, friendly, and lovely to chat with. She made our experience so memorable. Thanks, Bella! We enjoyed Fleeting dessert a few nights and Easter Brunch. Keshaun (spelling) was our waiter on Easter and he was so friendly, professional, attentive, and helpful with our choices. Maria and Jessie were standouts for us as well greeting us each evening in the lobby. This hotel has wonderful staff who became like family during our stay. Thank you ALL for making our 35th memorable and enjoyable. FYI - even though there are cargo ships passing through the river and sometimes they honk, it wasn't bothersome at all. Quite a neat site to see up close right from our room. Highly recommend this hotel. Until next time...

1/2 great + 1/2 horrible = average

Location was great, condition of the rooms and hotel were great. The staff was absolutely amazing! The pillows were absolute garbage and so soft you can’t even tell you have a pillow. The couch and chair in the room were also extremely uncomfortable and hard. Breakfast/food at Stevedore was great. The other food options at Bar Julian and Fleeting were less than great for our tastes & way too expensive for the options, but Bar Julian and the bar in the lobby were great for drinks. Savannah in totality was pretty awesome

Close enough to the action, but far enough away for peace and quiet at night

We had a five-night stay at the Thompson Savannah in mid- to late-March 2026. We were afraid that this hotel might be in the middle of nowhere, which it kida, sorta is, but in all honesty it is merely a 15 minute walk along the riverside (or at most a 5-minute drive) to get to the heart of Savannah. There is also a free shuttle bus that will take you right into the middle of all there is to see in Savannah, which we took one day. Unfortunately, we would not figure out how to get the bus back to the hotel, so we hopped in an Uber instead for the return trip. We had a rental car for our visit, and there is a safe and convenient parking garage about half a block away from the hotel (unaffiliated with the hotel) that always had plenty of open spaces. Visiting as Globalist members, we had free breakfast at the rooftop restaurant each morning. It had great food and amazing views of Savannah and the river, including the huge container ships arriving and departing from and to across the ocean. After breakfast hours, the rooftop establishment turns into a bar/restaurant, which we visited for snacks and drinks several afternoons during our stay. Savannah is an amazing food town, and we visited numerous wonderful restaurants across the city during our stay. One night, however, we decided to eat dinner at Fleeting, the main dinner restaurant at the Thompson Savannah. It also was very, very good. Deciding where to stay in Savannah in advance of this trip was not easy. There are many wonderful choices. In retrospect, the Thompson Savannah turned out to be the perfect place for us.

Great stay!

Great experience at Thompson Savannah! Walking distance to everything but far enough away for peace and quiet. Staff were extremely helpful and were much appreciated. Only negative - only parking offered is street parking and is paid parking during the day (no charge for 8pm - 8am) and is kind of a pain to have to worry about making sure I wake up before 8am and go into the app every morning to pay for the day or take a chance of getting fined.
