An event planned at the Thompson was superb!

The Thompson in Savannah is a splendid location in Savannah. The hotel is beautiful and the amenities are many...the bars and restaurants are superb, the meeting rooms nicely appointed, and the staff is professional and all have that wonderful southern charm!

Parking and Shower

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

The hotel was beautiful, and one of the biggest perks was that pets are allowed at no additional charge. The only issues I experienced were with the room and the parking situation. The shower felt like an accident waiting to happen. There was nowhere to comfortably rest your foot while shaving your legs, only one small shelf built into the tile for toiletries, and nothing to hold onto except the tiled walls. On top of that, the drain didn't keep up with the water flow very well, causing water to accumulate on the shower floor and creating a slipping hazard. Parking was also challenging. Unless you're willing to spend a significant amount of time searching for parking and worrying about potential towing, valet service is essentially a necessity. As of June 2026, valet parking costs $53 per day, and the hotel also places a $75 per day hold on your card. Overall, my stay was not unpleasant by any means. The hotel itself was lovely, and I enjoyed my visit. These are simply a few areas where improvements could make the guest experience even better.

Super Dog Friendly & Quiet! Just a Walk to all the Fun.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

This is a nice quiet hotel a little bit away from the main touristy areas. Among the best stays with a dog I've experienced with a huge dog friendly park in front of it. Just a short walk to all the riverfront shops and town. I'd happily stay there again.

Hospitality is a 10!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This was one of the best hotels experiences we've had. We've traveled a lot and this is hands down been the best service that we have ever had. Especially the hospitality staff, Kevin, Taylor, and Frank! It's because of them that we will make sure to stay here again!

Nice hotel but parking is a nightmare.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Very Nice hotel. Clean room Dog friendly and I appreciate this. Complimentary coffee in the lobby which is a nice perk Lobby bar was nice Not sure it’s worth extra money as it is a little bit of a walk for restaurants and shops on river street necessitating driving which is a deal breaker for me and a lesson learned as there is NO PARKING down by the shops and restaurants bay and river street and if you are lucky to find something it is costly to park and don’t be late to the lot or you will be charged more money . You will be told parking is free after 8pm but IT IS NOT TRUE as I parked on the street withNO signs around that said no parking and I got a ticket The parking and congestion in Savannah this trip has left a very bad taste in my mouth . It will be a while before I go back
