Disappointing Overall with Mostly Great Service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

I just spent 3 nights here after booking 2 rooms. There were highs and lows to the stay with the lows ultimately spoiling it. Upon checkin I was told one of my 2 rooms was ready. It was 3 p.m. and I said of course that was fine. We were early, and we could all go relax in the room that was ready. I was told I'd be contacted when the second room was ready. Upon entering any hotel room I do a thorough inspection for bed bugs. This room was gross. The linens were not only stained, but I was able to scrape filth off of them. There was a thick layer of dust on everything. Some suspicious stains on the night stand were not cleaned. I moved the cushions on the couch and found candy and debris. Behind the headboard was gobs of dog hair, trash, and more dust. I understand housekeeping can't vacuum behind everything after every room change, but surely it can be done every couple of weeks. I brought this to the attention of the front desk. I let them know that because I had already checked for bed bugs I did not want to change rooms again, and was uncomfortable having housekeeping in the room to clean since it was late, and the room had already been checked for bugs. The desk agent just sort of stared at me blankly. When someone came over and asked what the problem was he told them that I said the room was a little dusty. I reiterated I understood all they could do was move me or have the room cleaned and I didn't want that, but wanted them to have the room deep cleaned after I left. At 5 p.m. I hadn't been notified that my grandmother's room was ready, so I texted the front desk. 45 minutes I got a response that the room was ready. Her room was cleaner than mine, but the couch was still gross. I went outside to check out the pool area. There was trash on the ground, and all the submerged pool loungers were filthy. That evening I ordered French fries from Bar Fleeting. They took 20 minutes to materialize. The next day I see that I'm being charged a daily destination fee, which I know was paid at booking. I shared the booking info with the hotel showing the taxes and fees that had been paid. They said they'd get back to me and didn't. The next day I had to message them again about this, and a random gratuity charge on my bill. I have checked out and am still arguing about the destination charges on my bill. I've contacted Chase who I booked with to dispute the charges. They agree that the destination fee has already been paid. Last night I mentioned that we never received our welcome gift. The chat agent said they'd have it sent up right away. I asked that the gift be brought to my room and not my grandmother's because she was sleeping. The gift was brought to her room and she was woken from her nap. The agent apologized and I initially said it would be okay, but my grandmother was very upset. She tires very easily. I'd like to call out though that most employees we interacted with were stellar. We had 2 different drivers and both were friendly, quick, and extremely helpful. The gentlemen at the door every time we came down always checked on us, and was very friendly. Apart from the front desk agents I reported the dirty room too, the front desk was always very kind. The desk agents I reported to weren't at all rude, they just seemed confused. I totally get that my request probably seemed odd. The staff at Bar Julian was phenomenal. We ate there 4 times and the employees were all lovely. I was overall really disappointed with this stay. Had we had a dirty room and nothing else, it would have been disappointing, but at least that would have been one issue. Had I only had to quibble with the hotel about erroneous charges and nothing else, fine. It was just this combination of events that made the visit not great. I don't even blame housekeeping for a dirty room because I assume like most hotels the employees are given a limited amount of time to flip a room, and hotel owners are just hoping no one notices. My family spent 3 nights at Grand Hyatt DC in May and had a near flawless experience so we had high hopes for this trip. It was disappointing.

This was a nice hotel and great experience for me and my husband. Room was beautiful, I had riverside view, so happy with my experience, although I was a little surprised about all the fees they add to your bill and 2 of the elevators were broken so the evelvators was crowded, but other than that, it was a great experience.

Great stay in Savannah

Beautiful hotel right on the river. The hotel has complimentary car service if you needed a ride to Resturants etc. the staff was friendly and super helpful. The room was clean, modern and spacious. Very quiet hotel and chill area of Savannah. Great Resturants and roof top bar. I’d recommend the roof top bar for great cocktails and pizza. I would definitely return to this hotel. The only down side is they charge you 53 dollars a day for valet parking. All in all it’s a great hotel.

Luxury stay with world class service

Words don’t do this place justice. If it’s in your price range, you must stay here at least once in your life. I also booked with Chase rewards points so utilize that benefit and use the money saved to show generosity to the hospitality staff who have perfected their craft
