Positives: - Kids Club is fantastic, the staff there are awesome, so friendly and enthusiastic with the kids and they organise a full schedule of activities so the kids can pick what they are interested in - Our room (Marina) was great, the private pool and deck overlooking the water was lovely, and housekeeping did a great job servicing twice a day. - The food at all 3 restaurants was really good - Nice setting with both rainforest and sea, you can swim at the beach and it’s lovely and calm and has some tropical fish etc - The water slide is fab, much better than it looks in the pictures - The spa is lovely, so peaceful up in the rainforest and really enjoyed the treatments - WiFi was fine and bugs not too much of a problem considering the setting, they supply bug spray everywhere so we never got bitten Negatives: - The f&b staff need better training, we often were left without being served and had to chase staff up to order/ask for water/drinks etc. The billing was strange as well as it was all done by hand and they’d ask you to sign a bill which they then kept adding to so you had no idea what was on it by the end. Food and drinks often had to be ordered separately. - Food at the main restaurant and Latitude was really expensive, Sandbar wasn’t so bad - Breakfast was pretty basic, would have liked more fresh fruit (there was very little tropical fruit on offer), maybe some more pastries etc. The soy milk was always off. - Only 2 small pools and 1 was adults only - No snacks or anything available outside of meal times. They had a couple of bags of crisps at the boutique but it would be good if they could have a selection of food items for sale at the bars or boutique (eg crisps, cookies, nuts, muffins, chocolate or similar) in case people get hungry outside of meal times. It’s really restrictive otherwise and the shops are really far away. - Rooms a bit scruffy round the edges, it didn’t spoil our enjoyment but don’t expect super updated luxury accommodation.

You arrive as a guest and leave as family. The staff are kind, gracious and overall really amazing! Koro Sun is a small family run resort and it really feels like that. We enjoyed that it wasn't a big chain and enjoyed the slowed down approach to life. July was a great time to visit, sunshine and very little rain. Plus there were way less mosquitoes then we had anticipated. Our only issue and it isn't much of an issue, is that the resort was further from town then we had expected. After a few days we got tired of the same 3 restaurants. We could of taken a cab in to town but we enjoyed the resort so much we didn't want to leave. Overall great experience and highly recommend if your looking for a laid back, family friendly, eco conscious and small family run resort.

We had an amazing week at Koro Sun Resort. I've gone into detail below, but the key points are that the staff are kind and helpful, the activities were enjoyable and interesting, and the massage was pure bliss. Notes - The staff members throughout the resort are friendly and helpful; the porters, drivers, cleaners, maintenance, security, reception, kids' club, spa, activities centre, and restaurants. - The resort is well set-out and never felt crowded or too busy. There are two pools - one adults-only and one for everyone - the pools are pretty small but big enough to have a great time. The waterslide was fun, too. There are seating areas at various places and some paths for walks. There's a small waterwall up at the top of the hill; it is very pretty and you might appreciate a swim after climbing that hill! - My massage at the spa was honestly one of the best I've ever had (and I get massages regularly!). The rainforest spa is definitely unique and special - no music, just the sound of the water and birdlife. Amazing. You can also get a massage right by the pond near reception and there's a complimentary foot massage when you arrive (if you arrive after noon, you can have yours the next morning). - The food was very good for a resort (I'd say good when compared to non-resort food) - lots of variety and the menu at the main restaurant changes daily. Fresh fruit at breakfast was delicious and the hot meal choices included with the (complimentary) continental breakfast were good. We didn't get the meal plan - I did the maths and it worked out cheaper for us (we didn't eat three courses each and had a few meals at the Sand Bar, which isn't included in the meal plan). The seafood platter at the fancy restaurant (Latitude 71, open 3 nights a week) was ENORMOUS and more than enough for the four of us (2 adults, 2 older children) to share. Prices are high, but I don't think they are particularly high for a resort. We were pleasantly surprised by the final bill! - The Mountain Top Villa is enormous! It would be ideal for 2 large families to share; 5 bedrooms, a huge lounge and kitchen, lots of places to hang out (I think I counted 11 separate areas?!?!), and a large pool. - The activities are fun and varied - we did most of the included ones and a few of the paid excursions. The included ones were great - we learned how to arrange flowers and weave baskets, learned all about coconuts and local flora, and kayaked to nearby islands. The highlight was the handline fishing and grilling - we kayaked out to Bat Island, caught fish, and grilled them on the beach. So cool. You can also borrow kayaks and snorkelling gear on your own (tide-dependent). - We went on two of the paid excursions - The pearl farm visit was OK - it included snorkeling, but there was confusion about when/where to get changed and who was supposed to supply towels. It was a lovely warm day, so it wasn't a drama. The chocolate farm was a highlight - definitely do that! We got to walk around the farm and learn how chocolate is made - and of course we got to eat lots, too. Highly recommended. - You can also snorkel and dive with the dive shop that is located at the resort, but is a separate business. Check details as what the resort lists as offered may differ from what the dive shop offers (for example, the sunset cruise is listed at the resort reception as inclusive of drinks and nibbles, but at the dive shop, it's a different price and you need to order/pay for any food or drinks through the resort. This wasn't a drama, though, once we sorted it out, and everyone at the dive shop was lovely, too.) - Housekeeping serviced the villa and pool daily; they were well-cleaned well and it was lovely having fresh towels when we needed them. - Our children didn't do the kids' club, but it looked fun and the staff were so kind, always calling out to my children to show them what was going on and to say hi. The kids' club did a performance at one of the evening shows and it was so cute - the staff looked like they were having fun, too, which was great to see. Special notes re: Mountain Top Villa: - Mountain Top Villa is quite far removed from the resort; you *can* walk to it, but it's 15 minutes pretty much straight uphill and though I did it once, I wouldn't be keen to do it more than once a day, and certainly not in anything but proper shoes. It takes 15 minutes to get back to the resort, as the steepness means it's slow going downhill, too. The information page tells you to rent a car, but the booking page does not - I HIGHLY recommend renting a car unless you only plan to go to the main area of the resort once a day or so. The resort staff helped me arrange a rental car and they kindly dropped me off at the rental place. - The villa is oddly set out for some families - the lounge/kitchen is a separate building and bedrooms 2-5 are downstairs from the main bedroom and accessed via external stairs. Younger kids may not feel comfortable being that far away from their parents (and many parents might be worried about their kids being able to walk freely to the pool without the adults noticing). - There was very little hot water at our villa - less than three minutes' worth at a time - for showers. I did NOT mention this to staff, so perhaps it could have been easily fixed. Our friends who were staying in a Garden Bure in the main part of the resort said their shower was great with plenty of hot water, so this is not a resort-wide issue! We had such a lovely time. Vinaka vaka levu to the Koro Sun team!
