About the Hotel

Like a good pasta sauce, Rocco Forte's Verdura Resort combines many ingredients. First, take an enviable location – the southwest coast of Sicily, near the town of Sciacca – and add three Kyle Phillips-designed golf courses hugging the coast over rolling hills. Combine pools that reflect the distant mountains and low-lying buildings that mirror Sciacca's angular appeal. Finish with the type of cuisine that puts Sicily on the world's culinary map.

Reviews for Verdura Resort

Nice beach location, very quite and modern

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

We stayed at this property in September and we had a very nice stay. The room was nice and facing the sea. Modern and clean, just the bathroom needs some more decoration. Staff was very friendly all over the property. Breakfast was great. Also pools very nice and a lot of sunbeds and two big swimming pools plus more pools and jacuzzi at the spa. Unfortunately grassed areas quite burnt and also the golf courses not really in very good condition. It is a nice property but for over 1000 € per night the prices are too high, and for these prices they even charge an extra service charge per room per night, which is not great

Regrettable experience.

We were at Verdura as part of an International Golf group of 171 golfers from around the world. My wife and I were very disappointed with the “luxury” resort. There was no hot water in our room 4 of the 9 nights of our stay, cable TV disconnected on 3 days, and we were not informed the two golf courses had been under drought restrictions for 2 years only being able to water just the greens. 4 rounds of lift, clean, and place the ball if you were able to find a tuft of grass to put it on. Horrible conditions. We won’t be going back! I would normally provide this feedback directly and privately to the management. However, there is no capability to do so on their website site.

Third time and still a charm

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We have stayed as a family of five (two adults, two teen girls and a now 11 year old boy) twice before in the summer. Having had an excellent family holiday both times, work commitments meant this year we tried a late October break. And we again had a great break. Of course the weather was cooler and slightly more mixed but still 20 degrees plus. No Juve academy, Zambrotta training during our stay or Sicilian night but Verdura’s ‘off season’ still meant full range of sports including water sports. All but one restaurant open and the addition this time of a new clubhouse bar by the golf course which was an excellent addition. As was the expansion of the cocktail bar now the lovely Scirocco where we started each of our evenings. Service continues to be great. Food still great - our kids have allergies that are a bit weird and all the restaurants did a great job of managing all that. The upstairs offering has been substantially expanded as Osteria and was great. The breakfast team always ensure you start the day very look after and with a great range to suit all tastes. I also played both golf courses again and especially for resort courses are a real test especially off the whites. Very enjoyable to play. So no hesitation to recommend - the place really is first class - our issue now is trying to lose some of the weight from the food and wine that the daily gym visits didn’t quite manage to off set

A 5-star-resort? Yes. Grand luxury? No.

A 5-star-resort? Yes. Grand luxury? No. Verdura is sprawling resort, well-kept throughout, but its overall presentation, its architecture in particular, has become somewhat outdated. The access areas to the rooms in the many two-story buildings are at best spartan, although the rooms are well-appointed with large and comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms. Generous supply of water every day. But nothing to write a novel about. Staff: Certainly the resort's strongpoint. Friendly, helpful, efficient, practically all with at least sufficient command of English. Excellent experience and thank you to all. Restaurants (of which there are many): Very good, but not haute cuisine. Bars (main building and clubhouse): Good with pleasant snack served with drinks. Golf: Two 18-hole courses, well kept, good tee-boxes, large fairways, quick greens. The West course is an open expanse without much optical attraction, the East course is the much, much better and more challenging design. Overall, I doubt that Kyle Philips considers either of the courses one of his masterpieces. Well organised tee-times, excellent caddy-master staff. Spa: Excellent. Geographical situation: In the middle of nowhere in a not-so-attractive landscape. If you travel to Verdura without your own car, you are stuck in a 5-star-prison. The neighbouring towns (Sciacca, Ribera) are urbanistically perfectly awful. Sites to visit are obviously Agrigento and Selinunte, each about one hour's drive away. But the rest: Hm. Downside of Verdura: Every extra is indecently and counter-productively expensive. Food, drinks, treatments in the spa, nothing is worth the price-tag. Even if one can afford it - one shrinks away from a 33 cl bottle of domestic beer at 10 € from the minibar, where micro-bottles of Campari, whiskey, gin, etc., start at 15 €. A standard dinner for two with a starter and a main dish and the cheapest bottle of domestic wine will easily set you back 200 €. Just too much. RoccoForte should revisit pricing policy in this area.

Drinks as good as the view

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Expertly crafted cocktails and a beautiful view of the Mediterranean sunset to go along with them! Unique blends of local flavors made these drinks particularly special. The use of Sicilian citrus is amazing and if you enjoy a martini the EVO Martini is a must!
