The Canyon Suites at The Phoenician, a Luxury Collection Resort, Scottsdale

Given the previous glowing reviews, and the amount we paid, I was hoping for a little more from our stay at the Canyon Suites. We really enjoyed our trip overall and would possibly even consider staying here again, but there just wasn't much to make it feel 5 star/more than a normal hotel stay. For us, it was the little things that we have experienced in other upscale resorts that seemed to be missing here - e.g., a welcome drink and cool towel on arrival instead of just a bottle of water, little treats at turndown service or around the pool during the day, staff that starts to recognize you by name and makes sure to ask if there's anything you need... Some particular highlights: - The gym and tennis/pickleball facilities were quite nice and we appreciated being just a short walk away. - It was also really nice being able to walk back from the hotel after finishing our hike up Camelback (Cholla Trail). - We got pedicures at the spa and want to give a special shout-out to Rachel and Cynthia, who not only did an amazing job, but were lovely to talk to during the service. - We really enjoyed the provided breakfast and being able to eat outside, and all of the staff here was great. And some critiques: - Given we were guests at the hotel and were paying for a service, it was disappointing to hear that we wouldn't be able to use the spa facilities beforehand because we were "just" getting pedicures and not a more expensive service. Many other resorts of this type that we have stayed at allow guests to use the spa at any point during their stay, whether they are getting a service or not, so this seemed particularly stingy. - Please stop using plastic water bottles/cups in the room and around the pool. Again, we've seen many other hotels find a better way to do this. It was disheartening to leave the pool one afternoon and see all of the plastic left behind.

While the Phoenician is a very nice resort, the Canyon Suites allows you to enjoy all the amenities of the resort, with the hustle and bustle. The staff is warm and welcoming, across the board. The pace is slower, which is fantastic. And the accommodations are top notch. It’s our place to stay when we come to Scottsdale.

This place is fantastic. This staff couldn’t do enough for you. They know what you like what you want and do everything they can to help you out. We want to give a special call out to Devon at the concierge who made sure we had a dream vacation. Buzz. and Ivy had our breakfast needs ready before we even stepped into the restaurant.. They couldn’t do enough for us. Service was over the top outstanding. They treated us like family. The breakfast simple with fresh salads.meats fruits and juices without being over the top. we had semores at their outdoor almost every night. Whatever we wanted to do they made sure they made it happen. The room was large enough space for three people. The pool was beautiful and never crowded. The grounds were magnificent and the hotel is huge and beautiful. And have so many facilities with things to do all the time. We were sorry to leave and we can’t wait to go back.

From the moment we arrived - until we left, the service was impeccable! Brad, our concierge, greeted us and welcomed us to our room by physically walking us to our room and showing us pointers on how to operate the gadgets. Kale, the valet, always remembered us as we took our car in and out. The weekend pool waitress and cleaning ladies were very pleasant! AND everything was immaculately clean all around the property - not just our room. We really enjoyed the cactus garden and we experienced every bar and restaurant on the property — all were wonderful with a nice variety of selections. I am vegetarian and never had a loss of choices. Will definitely return!!!

This place is still number 1 in old town Scottsdale. The rooms are amazing and the facility’s are still great. What makes this place truly 5 star is the staff. The staff went above and beyond thru our entire stay. The bell hops, front desk staff , concierge , pool staff all top notch. It’s hard to find a great quiet , clean , luxurious hotel in Scottsdale these days for couples and this place delivers. Thank you canyon suites staff
