Hotel Valley Ho

Great visit as usual! Very good service at the pool, Alex and Justine (Cookie Dough) make the poolside experience very pleasurable! The bar experience is always great no matter who works, and the breakfast is always top notch. Kudos to the chef and the waitstaff. We noticed the tenure of many of the employees there as we have seen them on multiple trips over the past few years. Great job keeping them happy and willing to stay. Familiar faces make a huge difference. See you again!

We had the absolute best stay at the Valley Ho!! Every detail of this hotel is lovely. We had the basic room and it was perfect. It’s well decorated and clean. Felt like it was redone recently bc everything was so clean and nice inside. The hotel restaurant Zuzu is wonderful too. The food is imaginative and delicious and well priced. I prefer the daytime menu to the night time one but all the food was really good. The pool was chill during the week but with a cool vibe. And the weekend came alive with DJs and more of a party atmosphere. Everywhere you turned the staff was friendly, kind and helpful. From the bellhops to the front desk to the cleaning crew to the guys at the pool. But one complete stand out person that we’ll never forget is Alex (at the pool). He is a GEM. He made our trip extra special. From bringing us ice at the pool before we asked to having towels ready for us every day. He was always smiling and ready to help make our vacation just that much better. By the end of the trip he felt like family. We’ll never forget Alex and our stay at the Valley Ho!

We stayed at a retro-style hotel with fun George Jetson vibes. The front entrance was charming, playing classic movie and cartoon clips, a nostalgic touch we loved. Unfortunately, our experience quickly went downhill. When we entered our room, it was uncomfortably hot at 75 degrees. We set the AC to 69, hoping it would cool down, but it never did. Then, to our shock, we saw a cockroach running across the bathroom, a complete turn-off, especially when celebrating our anniversary. We tried to make the best of it and had dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, which was actually quite good. But when we returned, the room was still extremely hot. At that point, we decided to check out early. When we explained our disappointment to the front desk, including the heat and cockroach issue, the response we got was, “Well, it’s that time of year for cockroaches .” Not exactly the kind of care or service we expected. Sadly, what could have been a fun retro getaway turned into a very uncomfortable and disappointing experience.

Enjoyed the vibe of the pool. However, we did have a rough start to our experience. As instructed by Resort Pass we went to the front desk to check in for our cabana. After checking in, the woman at the front desk then directed us to the pool where we were to be greeted. This did not happen. After waiting about 15 minutes by the towel desk with no one approaching us, I went back to the front desk where the same woman called the pool area and told them we were waiting at the entrance. After going back to the pool, we were once again ignored by the staff. There was no attendant at the towel desk by the entrance however there were staff on the other side of the pool by the bar and a few wait staff wandering around. At no time did any staff approach us to ask if we needed help or the other group of guests waiting where we were. At that point I went to the bar area to ask if someone was going to help us as we had reserved a cabana and had been waiting for a long period of time. I was greeted negatively by Galilea P (Pool Manager). She had an indifferent attitude and was completely dismissive of my complaint that we and the other group have been ignored for over 20+ minutes. She flatly said that the staff is busy and that we have to check in at the bar. I asked where these instructions were posted which were contrary to the guidance from the front desk. She offered no apology for any miscommunication nor the disconnect between the front desk and her team. As the pool manager, Galilea definitely needs training on how to interact with guests who are complaining about their experience if she is stepping into a manager role and not antagonize an already frustrated guest when they are sharing feedback or complaining about their experience. I did try to speak to a manager above her but was given a business card of Amber A (Food & Beverage Director) and Webster S (Restaurant General Manager). I did leave a message on Amber’s voicemail. Only after I left that message did Galilea come to our cabana. She explained that Amber would not return my call for personal reasons and then offered a disingenuous apology, offering a free round of drinks while inaccurately describing our interaction. We have booked many cabanas locally and I have to say this experience was not worth the price as it was completely disorganized which seemed to be the result of poor management. Scottsdale has many resorts that offer cabanas which offer great amenities and service. Unfortunately, Valley Ho is not one of them. Luckily, we had a great server, Justine who was able to turn our experience around by continuously checking on us while we were in the cabana as well as when we were in the pool. To be honest, I was concerned how the day would turn out as we knew Galilea was talking negatively to her staff about us. Glad our server was able to look passed that. Also, Webster did stop by when we were getting ready to leave. He provided a real apology that we should have received earlier. He acknowledged where they fell short and agreed they should have a sign directing cabana guests to the bar. He then offered a discount on a future cabana and asked for us to reach out to him if we come back. I appreciated his response.

We loved our stay and will definitely be returning. The room was great, staff was very friendly, location in Old Town was perfect and the “pool party” on the weekend was solid!
