now worth

Not worth the money, not even close. We paid around $1,000 a night with all the hidden fees (and that’s after discounts), and this place simply isn’t worth more than $300 a night all in. Prices are outrageous, and it feels like they’re trying to squeeze every dollar out of you at every step. Yes, the hotel and pools are nice, but you’ll find similar pools and comfort at much cheaper hotels nearby. Nothing here truly justifies the insane prices except maybe the view — and even that’s not worth paying such an absurd premium for. Self-parking far from the rooms is $30 a day, faster Wi-Fi costs extra, and you constantly get the sense that everything has an added charge. It’s a beautiful property ruined by greed. Bottom line: you can easily find a $200–300 hotel in Scottsdale that will give you an equal or even better experience without draining your wallet.

Meh

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

This resort does not seem worth the price. Our room overlooked the roof between the two buildings. We had a lovely view of watching the staff push their laundry carts across the roof. They told us our view would be of the pool. The room just seemed typical for a standard hotel. The bathroom was nice but it was an odd design with a lot of wasted counter space. The toilet paper holder fell off after each use. The iron had a dirty bottom. We were visiting our friends in a room that backed right up to the mountain which which was like having rock in your face. People could walk just outside their sliding glass window that faced the rock so they didn't feel like they had much privacy if they wanted to look at the rock. Because the setup is two buildings, if you're in the back building you have to take one elevator to get to the floor where you take a second elevator to get to your building. If you're expecting to feel like you're in a 'luxury' resort, you might just need to lower your expectations. It didn't have that 'wow' factor, or pristine feel of other resorts or luxury hotels I've stayed at. I was glad it was a 'paid for' business trip.

Stunning Resort, but Service Disappointing After 10 Years

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We returned to The Phoenician after a decade, having visited every year in the past, and while the property itself remains absolutely breathtaking, the service side of the experience left us questioning a return. Facilities: 10/10 The resort itself is still world-class — an epic desert escape with beautifully maintained pools, great rooms, and the luxury feel you’d expect. Bellman: 8/10 Friendly and helpful, though not quite as polished as we remembered from past visits. Pool Service: 5/10 Disappointingly rigid. Staff seemed unwilling to adjust or customize drink orders. The food menu was limited and honestly not up to par for a resort of this caliber. Restaurant Service: 1/10 This was the most frustrating part of our stay and unfortunately the reason we likely won’t return. The lunch menu felt strange and uninspired, service was slow, and most servers seemed well past their stride. At breakfast, we were told there would be a 35-minute wait, yet the restaurant was maybe 10% full. It left us wondering if they were trying to push guests toward room service instead of dining in. Overall: The Phoenician remains an incredible property in terms of facilities, but the service has slipped dramatically since our last visits. For the price point and reputation, we expected much more. Unless restaurant and pool service improves, we’ll be looking at other options next time.

Great Experience!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

I recently took my daughter for a staycation here, and had such a great experience! I especially want to give recognition to Ramirez who went above and beyond during our swim. He brought out some pool toys for the children to enjoy while we were here and just overall 5 star service. Thank you Ramirez and Phoenician team. Highly recommend coming here!!

Dirty & Neglected. Random rusted fridge in the middle of our patio!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We decided to splurge a bit and stay in the residence with a private pool. We were there for business, 2 days. Upon entering the space the toilet had not been flushed, yes with stuff in it. I thought “simple mistake”. I flushed and asked for some Clorox wipes to ensure for myself the rest was at least sanitary. Next I go out to relax by the pool. There is an old rusted fridge that is lying in the middle of the patio. It probably forgot to get hauled away, but that’s when I call management. Then we realize upon stepping in the pool the cloud of murkiness that plumed from under our feet. The pool was disgusting. For over 1,400. We had to ask the manager for some compensation and it was little to none for the price we paid. Won’t be going back. Not worth the extravagant price.

We stayed at The Phoenician in Scottsdale for three wonderful days that included golf for two. It was truly a phenomenal value.

My husband and I stayed at The Phoenician in Arizona. It was the most beautiful place anyone could stay that wasn't on an ocean. They also have a spa to die for! This resort will have you stress free by the time you leave. There was so much to do on the property that you didn't have to even leave to enjoy yourself.
