JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa

Not worth the money. The rooms are old and dated. In-room convenience items are subpar. It felt like there was an upcharge for eveerything. I wanted to use the adult pool, wasn't told at check in that there would be an additional fee. For a room close to $1000 I should have free access to an "adult" pool. The pool was so packed on Saturday that I had trouble finding an open seat and they ran out of towels! The spa was great. Stay somewhere else and go to the spa.

This property is beautiful. The resort is large and has beautiful views. It is outdated except for the new spa. The pool is undersized for the size of the resort. We had to get there early to get a seat. There were premium seats available. It was surprising that they had an adult pool roped off and only accessible for a premium of $100. This went beyond paying for a seat. There was a resort fee and then a required tip fee for golf carts and housekeepers we never used the golf cart after they brought us to our room within a very short walk from the lobby. These fees should be optional or paid at the guest’s preference for great service. For the price of these rooms, these items such as a golf cart ride, should be included as the operational cost of running a large property. The towels both in the room and pool were worn and rough. The pool restaurant closed at 5 leaving no options at the pool for guests. On the positive side, the staff were amazing. They were helpful and seemed to enjoy the property and working with guest. They offered suggestions and went the extra mile- the JW service I have always appreciated. The food though pricey was delicious and plentiful. The property was clean and well kept on the exterior. The spa underwent a 15 million dollar renovation and it shows. The service and environment were one of the best I have ever experienced. I recommend getting your reservations for services early. There is a pool and cafe service which allowed us to spend the day in a wonderful environment. There were too many special extras to mention. It is expensive but worth it. It might be worth checking out another hotel property in the area.

OK - I love the JW Marriott Camelback (and Gainey Ranch, Royal Palms, Desert Ridge, etc.). I'm a sucker for the beautiful spring weather and southwest vibe. I really appreciate the daily activities that let you do as much or as little as you want. They publish a schedule and you can sign up for free and fee based activities like hikes, walks, yoga on the lawn or in a studio, etc.. I did the free 7:00 walks and 8:00 yoga each day. Deep Stretch Yoga at 8:00 am in Paradise Valley on the lawn is pretty amazing.... We had a cool breeze and visiting love birds and hummingbirds. I also had a spa day which wasn't free - but was worth every penny. See my other review and plan to spend the better part of a day there. The rooms are great. They are private and tucked away - it's a rambling resort and not a multi story hotel. They have complimentary golf cart shuttles, but if you are opposed to walking much ask for a room near the center of the resort. The property is beautiful. The spa, restaurants, etc. are amazing. It would be the perfect place for a family, honeymoon or business trip (like ours). It's a treat!

Beautiful property, very unique. Friendly staff. I very much appreciated the benefits received for my Platinum status: early check-in, room upgrade to a Signature View casita, complimentary breakfast buffet. The casita was comfortable, spacious and had a great view though the rug was dirty & the bathroom needs renovation. One disappointing deal breaker: I was very surprised that you have to pay extra just to swim in the adult pool in the main pool area. Just to swim. You can’t swim unless you rent a cabana, lounge or daybed and the prices change daily and are $$$$. That’s a first. I already paid an extra $60 including tax for a daily resort fee, so please do not relegate me to the kiddie pool. And, please turn down the blaring music because it’s not relaxing and it’s not upscale. It made the pool unusable. There’s also a $200 minimum spend to escape to the adult only spa pool.

This was my third visit to the JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa. The 1st two visits were incredible. This stay was not great. The nightly rate is very high and for the amount we paid, I should NOT have to pay for a chair at the adult only pool. When I sat in the only chair available, I was told to leave because I didn't reserve the chair. The regular pool was jam packed during my stay and I couldn't sit with my husband OR get an umbrella. I have very fair skin and cannot be exposed to the Arizona sun without some sort of shade. We also had broken glass outside our front door of our room that took a long time to pick up even after resort staff walked by. It was very dangerous.
