Unprofessional Front Desk team, rooms ok

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

This is a tough one. The actual rooms are nice, spacious and clean (king corner). The pillows were horrible and flat and left both of us with neck pain. The real issue here is the day shift front desk staff. As a Hyatt Discoverist, I have modest benefits of possible early check in and a 2pm checkout. I checked in on the app for 12:30. I also called at 10:00 am and spoke to a pleasant woman who said the room may not be ready due to the sold out status (World Cup) but she would try and get us in sooner. When we arrived, we were met with two younger front desk clerks who both unhelpful and unapologetic. They couldn't give a time frame for our room and basically offered no other options (no lounge, no free water, nothing). Around 3pm I checked back and was told my room was upgraded to a corner king. I told the front desk woman that it wasn't an upgrade because that is what I already had paid for in advance and she said "show me the email" as if I were lying. I showed her I paid for a Corner King on the app and she glared at me. Thankfully the two day shift people left by the time the room was finally ready at 3:45pm so I didn't have to deal with them. The night staff was very helpful and friendly and apologetic for the delays. I explained to them that we initially were going to use the valet but then decided not to. She said the charge would not be on my room. The following morning I checked with the same day shift person who told me it would be taken off my room. When I checked out, I asked for a print off of my bill and guess what? The valet charge was still on the room. There is truly a lack of empathy and attention to detail with the front desk staff at this hotel. Call it lack of training, lack of experience or perhaps just a wrong fit for who is the first line of service here. This hotel is inexpensive. If the Unbound Collection is supposed to be an elevated experience these people should be better trained or moved to a Hyatt Place where perhaps the service expectations are lower. I would not recommend staying here due to the poor staff experience but if you don't care about that, then the location and rooms are fine.

Seattle Service and Location

One of the best hotels out there. The staff was outstanding and especially the wonderful Angel at the front desk. I was so impressed with the ice chests on each floor. Someone with some true great guest experience was involved in setting up this hotel. And…you can’t ask for a better location.

Lovely with some drawbacks

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

When we pulled up there was a young man who approached but seemed unprepared to help unload our luggage until I asked him to retrieve a cart. From there he did help with bags and brought them to our room. Check-in was smooth and we were thanked for being Lifetime Globalists and told we were entitled to free breakfast. The decor is lovely and inviting but they spray a strong perfume of some kind which was unwelcome because it was so strong. We were giving a lovely corner room overlooking the street, but it wasn't noisy and the curtains were heavy enough to block out any street noise. The room was spacious with a king bed, small desk, coffee service area and couch. The oddest thing was that there was NO LIGHTING BY THE COUCH. I wanted to go to sleep but my husband wanted to sit on the couch and read. Finally we moved a desktop lamp by uncoiling the power cord and moving it to an outlet behind the table by the couch. The bathroom was spacious with a separate commode. The one issue was incredibly poor water pressure. Like spitting at you kind of water pressure which makes it lengthy and difficult to wash and rinse properly. The real issue we had was with the restaurant. Everything came VERY slowly. It seemed as if the servers had to go a long distance to retrieve service items. The menu was also fairly limited. A lot of repeat items with different names but the same ingredients. The food we ordered though, was tasty, with the exception of the chicken wings. They were like rubber. We took 2 bites and sent them back uneaten and then had to remind our server to remove them from the final bill. The scrambled egg breakfast was hearty and generous, as was the smash burger. The fries were excellent. Overall a lovely looking property, but a somewhat lackluster experience. We appreciate that we didn't have to argue for our amenities, a welcome change from our Marriott stay earlier in the week.

Wonderful experience

Really amazing stay. The staff were so helpful and welcoming and accommodated our early check in. The bar offered a complimentary wine hour. We used the valet parking which gave us the peace of mind that the car would be safe in down town Seattle. Our car was electric so we requested the EV charger, and my only critique is that we didn't get much charge for overnight.

Thank you so much for your great staff, food, amenities, and amazing attention to detail including decor, a window in my room that opens, wonderful quality bath products and towels, deep soaking tubs, and two waters in my rental car cup holder when I left! I checked in late at night and left very early for a meeting. I have stayed at MANY hotels in Seattle and yours is by far the best. I will make your hotel my Seattle base from now on. Thanks so much.

My first visit to Seattle and I couldn’t have been happier that we chose to stay with Hotel 1000. The hotel itself is beautiful, the staff were all very friendly and the food in the BOKA lounge was fantastic! I only wish you were in Victoria so I could eat there all the time. The Ahi Tuna Poke was a favorite and the Mac & Cheese was a close second. Lisa was very knowledgeable and friendly and definitely left a positive impression. We enjoyed our evening there so much we came back on our second night there. Our server was very nice as well, unfortunately I do not remember her name. I will be recommending your hotel to everyone and can’t wait to get to come back myself!

I work for Expedia so I stay in Seattle a lot. I always come back to Hotel 1000 mainly because the staff there really make a difference. I came with my family this time and we could not have felt more welcome. They had a wonderful time and felt so comfortable in the hotel, and that is due to the great staff and terrific atmosphere you have in the hotel. You should feel very proud of everyone on your team, they make such a difference to the customers experience of staying in Seattle!

Your customer service and Can Do employees will continue to make your hotel our premier choice when staying in or near Seattle.
