The customer service, organization, and responsiveness of this hotel is terrible. I terribly miss the Pan Pacific that this hotel has replaced. We stayed for two nights spending thousands of dollars. My son left his Apple Watch in the room, which we realized 10 min after leaving but were catching a flight. I immediately called and they recovered my watch and assured they’d mail it back. Easy, right? For some reason not with this hotel. I get a call back that I have to go online and fill out a report so they can recover the item and I then can pay for shipping. Okay, little off putting considering a paid almost $2k for two days, but whatever I’ll pay for the $7 shipping. Well then I get an email back that they don’t have my item. I call several times, the staff is unhelpful and I have unreturned yet promised calls from managers. Finally get through, they have my item (literally sitting right in front of them) but there was a problem with the reporting process so I have to go back to fill out a second one so I can pay for shipping. I do that again with the promise I will get an email immediately to pay for shipping. Several days again now and it’s the same thing. The service and organization is worse than a best western. I cannot understand why they don’t just mail back my damn watch. It’s been almost a month and this 5 star hotel cannot figure it out. For the price, I would absolutely avoid this hotel - stay at the Fairmont or Four Seasons in Seattle over the 1 Hotel. I loved the Pan Pacific due mainly to their amazing customer service. 1 Hotel cannot compete at all. They are unresponsive and overwhelmingly incompetent, which at this point appears to be costing me a brand new Apple Watch that they cannot figure out how to put in the mail. Highly encourage staying away from this place.

This hotel opened in May, and it has many problems. The elevators were broken during our visit, which last four nights. There are apparently on two guest elevators, one staff elevator, and during our entire stay the guest and staff elevator were broken causing exceptionally long wait times. We booked two King rooms and asked for a roll away for our kids. The front desk promised a call back, but they didn’t call. After a second trip to the desk, we learned there are very few roll aways on the property and none was available. We were told to return the second day to arrange for a room change to two double beds. When I went to the front desk that day, that person told me I should check online. It took an entire day and multiple trips to the front desk to get a room change then, when we checked out, we weren’t credited with our American Express meal credits. It took a significant amount of time to remedy that and get a refund since I had already been charged over $200. I love the hotel one in San Francisco. This property is not of the same standard.

This hotel is brand new, in a spot formerly occupied by the Pan Pacific hotel, in a multi use structure with a Whole Foods at the street level. The location is perfect in downtown Seattle, a short walk from Pike Place Market, the Space Needle and Union lake. Since it’s a 1 Hotel, the color palette of the public spaces and rooms is a soothing combination of creams and earth tones, meant to be both calming and a reflection of the emphasis on all things natural. There is also a sandlewood scent in the air, just like other 1 Hotels. Our room was bright and large with a medium sized sitting area, table and a comfortable king sized bed. We don’t usually watch TV when we’re traveling but the TV flips around to provide viewing from both the sitting area and the bed. Quite clever! There are two restaurants and a bar with outdoor seating, which was filled with guests and local professionals continuing their work over a beer. The vibe was very downtown Seattle. The main restaurant is La Loba, which serves truly exceptional Spanish food. This place is a destination and you should book it when you book your room. The hotel service is laid back but on point, sort of like Seattle. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. This is a welcome addition to the Seattle hotel scene. When we come back, we will definitely stay here again!

The 1 Hotel in Seattle is a beautiful new hotel in a great location. It is situated within walking distance to many sights including the Space Needle, Pikes Place Public Market and the Waterfront, as well as restaurants and coffee shops. The bus and trolley stop is directly in front of the property on Westlake Avenue, and you can get to the train station or monorail easily from the bus as well, due to Seattle’s amazing public transportation system which also includes ferries, we used it literally everyday. In addition, the hotel courtesy car is so nice to have available from 10 am - 6 pm and as long as the valet has coverage and the destination is within a 2 mile radius. We took advantage of it when we needed to be somewhere fast. The valet, front desk, restaurant, and other staff were very friendly and attentive! A feature that I loved in the lobby was a table with fresh local from farms fruit every day, we had peaches, plums, pears, apples, etc. The hotel has a bar, and a restaurant open all day - Drift, and a restaurant La Loba, which is open less frequently. We only ate once at Drift for dinner, it wasn’t memorable, but we sat outside. The hotel also sits on top of a Whole Foods Market, which is super convenient. There is a mini bar in the room with a fridge in a cabinet, that has a slight hum to it, but not that disturbing. I requested a tea kettle for the room and they provided it very fast and it was a nice new modern design. There is a Nespresso machine in the room also with complimentary pods and sugars. The interiors, from the lobby to the rooms, are calming, bright, clean and designed with sustainability in mind. Our room was beautiful and bright, with lovely fabrics and light wood furnishings! We had a view of the Space Needle from the couch in front of the window looking at an angle. I was glad our window had a tiny part of it that we could open, I like to have some fresh air. The room was small but not too small. We were on the 7th floor and I was glad to be at least that high and over the Plaza, not sure if that is considered the Hill side or not, but they should call it the Plaza side, I would recommend that room level as well, unless you don’t care about noise or price and want a full view of the Needle. The bed and sheets were nice and comfortable. They had cool robes and slippers for us in the closets as well. The bathroom has a filtered water spigot at the sink which was much appreciated even though Settle water is supposed to be very good, it was nice to just fill up our bottles there. The windows were mostly sound proof, except for fireworks, that noise along with the occasional police car is hard to totally shut out, but no biggie, at least on the plaza side. The AC was adequate but did run constantly, not as loud as most hotels (seems like the new hotel Reno did not include new AC but probably improved it for sure) but it wasn’t as quiet as some either. The good news is that even though the outside temp got to 82 at some point during the day, at night it cooled down so we ran the ac in the room while we were out to keep the room cool then at night turned it off completely and we were perfectly comfortable. And overall, a quiet location! While in Seattle, we came across many of the hotels we researched and compared some aspects of them to 1 Hotel. Those hotels were a bit closer to the action, but it would have been louder for sure and we would have encountered a bit more homeless as well, which is a big problem there. In particular, The Thompson would be one I would definitely consider as it had The Nest - an awesome rooftop bar that we love!!! (But it is next to a halfway house). The Westin is huge and one of the best located properties as it is closest to the train hubs and a shopping mall, while still being only a few blocks from Pikes Place, if that is your thing. I would not recommend the Marriott Waterfront or the Four Seasons, both have views of the water, but not well located in my opinion. All this said…WOW we loved our hotel and room and would for sure recommend it to fellow boutique hotel loving guests!
