The State Hotel

This hotel is perfect- the staff was amazing, everyone we interacted with was so friendly! We walked everywhere, it is in a perfect location to hit all waterfront attractions and grab the light rail or monorail. Beautiful, crisp clean room, the BEST shower towels EVER, and very comfortable bed!! We ordered and ate at the rooftop terrace. We had the burger and fries and hush puppies. All were incredible. The view to the sound was beautiful and we watched the sunset from there.

Quaint hotel. The room was very clean & tidy. Bedroom area was small, with a larger bathroom.( Walk-in shower needs a full door...water gets all over the floor from the shower.) We stayed for a week...lack of storage was an issue. The bathroom needs a towel rack or ring near the sink for hand towels. Desk was unusable due to the tea kettle, mugs, ice bucket being placed there with nowhere to move them to. All minor inconveniences... Be aware that there is a large homeless population in the immediate area, some of whom are somewhat aggressive in asking for money. The front desk staff, and the staff in general, were all very accommodating and friendly. The Ben Paris restaurant had excellent food, and it was handily inside the hotel. The location near Pikes Place Market and other businesses was excellent. We were able to walk everywhere, with mass transit readily available nearby. All in all, our visit was quite pleasant.

this hotel is good but not worth the money you will spend on it. the laundry service is especially bad. dont tell me i need to pay $18 per shirt and $6 per tie and then not even have it done before 9 pm that day.

My husband and I made reservations at the State Hotel as we wanted a comfortable place to stay in Seattle while visiting my daughter. Hotel under Chase Reserve. First of all, the parking is terrible and there is no valet. For the expense of this hotel, that seems unreasonable. After flying into Seattle on a Friday morning, renting a car, then driving to Ballard and back to the hotel, we were looking forward to a restful evening. In traffic and in a designated bus lane, we had to find parking in front of the hotel. No valet. My husband who has Parkinson's had to manuever 2 suitcases and try to check in. After buzzing in (yes, you have to wait for the front desk to buzz you in), and he was handed a few sheets of paper with instructions plus a bar code to get into the parking garage - which is 4 lanes across traffic to get into. No help whatsoever from the front desk. And 4 lanes across the busy 2nd street. Buses were honking at us; we ended up blocking a side street entrance accidently. Quite stressful for someone new to Seattle. Second, after finally parking up 6 stories on a very windy parking garage, we made it to our room. We were supposed to get an upgrade - but of course they were full. Our small room contained a king size been facing a blank wall. The TV was to our right to the other wall. In order to watch tv, you had to lay perpendicular to the bed!!!. No closet. At this point, things are getting comical. Third, one of the sheets of paper says that we were to get daily room service to make up beds and clean room. Finally a service that matched the price of the hotel so at least that was nice. Unfortunately, when we came back to our room on Saturday evening, there was an unmade bed, wet towels, a filled trash cans. When we called downstairs, the front desk said 'what did we want them to do about it'; very upsetting. The least you can do is change your paperwork. Fourth, the sidewalk in front of the hotel looked like it had not been cleaned/washed in a while. $500/night. This hotel is one block from Pikes Place and that is why I gave it a 2. Buyer beware as I had not seen similar reviews.

The State Hotel is clean, has great amenities, and the staff is always super friendly. And the location can’t be beat!
