Pleasant hotel, bellman needs help

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

The rooms are nice. The croissants in the breakfast restaurant delicious. Where they fail is picking up your luggage after a Seahawk game. Everyone checked out in the morning, had the bell station hold luggage. After the game all collecting at the same time. I counted 15 people in the lobby waiting on luggage, including a guy frantic he was going to miss his flight….. after waiting 15 minutes. He got his, and I’m still waiting. One bellman to 15+ guests. They should have the General Manager down here getting our luggage. Do better W.

Overpriced for a moderate hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Our group of eight couples booked four rooms at the W Hotel for a stay on 9/6/2025. While the hotel itself was nice and the staff was friendly, the extra fees quickly soured the experience. The room rate was $400 ($450 with taxes and fees), which seemed inflated—likely because of the Seahawks game that weekend. Parking was another frustration. There’s no nearby self-parking, so guests are forced to use the W’s garage. When we arrived, a sandwich board outside advertised overnight parking at $15 less than the $68 listed online. Despite this, valet charged us the full $68. Since we were using Uber during our stay, we had no choice but to leave our cars with valet. The rooms were modern and clean, but the basics were lacking. Each room only had two bath towels—fine for a solo traveler, but inconvenient for couples. The pillows were flat and worn out, and the bed felt old and saggy, leaving several of us with the sense that our feet were higher than our heads. At least one couple in our group seemed to have a newer bed, but the majority agreed that the sleeping setup was poor. The in-room fridge was packed with overpriced drinks and snacks, leaving no space for personal use. Removing anything triggers an automatic charge. After checkout, things got worse. While driving home, I received an invoice showing two valet charges at $68 each, despite the lower rate advertised at check-in. One of the charges was eventually removed after I called, but the other remained. On top of that, we were billed a $28 “destination fee,” which supposedly covered a $14 per-person drink credit and a Ferris wheel ticket offer we received at check-in. It’s essentially a forced bar credit, whether you want it or not. In the end, the W looks great on the surface, but guests should expect to pay at least 25% more than the listed rate once hidden charges are factored in. For the same price point, there are nicer, more transparent hotel options in Seattle.

Nice Staff, Decent Room, Close to Subway and Waterfront

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

The W Seattle is a mixed bag: all of the staff were very nice, our room was in decent condition, and it is within walking distance of the waterfront and a light rail station (Symphony -- where you can get a train to/from SEATAC airport but takes almost an hour from terminal to hotel), but it more of a 3-star hotel than a "luxury" hotel, there is no apparent place to park your car for a few minutes while you are unloading your bags and checking in, and the valet parking is a mess. Bottom line: if you get a cheap rate, don't expect a 4- or 5-star experience, and don't have a car with you, it is worth considering staying here.

W was a nice visit, but needs a room refresh.

Great hotel with a need for an update. Clean, quiet rooms with good, quiet temperature control. The cafe was a surprise for us. Good cocktails, nibbles and morning breakfast. Free coffee in the morning.
