Amara is a gem among the Sedona hotels. Perhaps you've heard about Sedona's stunning Red Rocks-they are a tad bit famous (for good reason). The scenery here is almost impossibly beautiful, as if an artist made the entire horizon his canvas. Fortunately for all who visit, the Red Rocks are very real and provide the stunning backdrop for our world-class boutique hotel, Amara Resort.

Great resort. Well situated and excellent restaurant attached for in room dining which we made good use of. It was cold but the infinity pool and hot tub looking out to the mountains were great for relaxing at the end of the day.

The following issues made our stay unacceptable: Medical & Health Concerns: We discovered black mold in the bathroom. Because my younger child has asthma, this was a direct health threat. To mitigate the risk, we were forced to keep the windows open and the noisy bathroom exhaust fan running at all times, destroying any hope of a "relaxing" retreat. Sanitation Failures: Upon arrival, the bathroom trash can was still had waste from the previous guest. Worse, the following day, housekeeping left a used cleaning rag on our bathroom sink. This is a gross violation of basic hygiene protocols. Physical Neglect: The room is in a state of disrepair—peeling paint, a non-functional light above the toilet, a mismatched faucet, and a wobbly shower head or curtain lining that was falling apart . Furthermore, the constant smell of kitchen grease in the hallways leading to our room was nauseating. The gap between the "luxury" price paid and the reality of this stay is vast. Because the room was medically unsafe for my child and failed to meet the basic standards of cleanliness and maintenance, I am requesting a full refund of all nights and associated fees.

Great location, friendly staff, and nice facilities. I love that they will take you up the hill in a golf cart. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We were really glad we chose Amara for our Sedona girls trip.

Amara truly is one of the finest hotels in town. The staff is happy to serve and was quick to meet any request. Great location in Sedona just steps away from downtown and a quick drive to many trails and shopping in Sedona. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised there was free valet parking and complimentary shuttle to the top of the hill where stores/resturants are located. I will say the hotel resturant is underrated. The chef here has some fantastic dishes which are very flavorful and well presented. And Kenny our bartender was the perfect guide for the evening. He's happy to share experiences living in Sedona, recommendations on cocktails and food. It truly was a treat to stay here.

We were pleased with our stay at Amara. The hotel itself is good, I don’t consider it luxury by any means. Be aware that there are steps to some rooms so you may need to carry luggage, albeit it’s just a few steps. We really didn’t use much of the amenities, as it’s January, and we really spent the day hiking / sightseeing. Bed was comfortable after long day. All of the staff from front desk, to bar, to valet, were all amazing. Especially the valet (which is complimentary). They bust their butts. The hotel is also at the bottom of a very steep hill but they offer a shuttle to the top. Central for shopping and restaurants. We would definitely recommend Amara.
