Amara is a gem among the Sedona hotels. Perhaps you've heard about Sedona's stunning Red Rocks-they are a tad bit famous (for good reason). The scenery here is almost impossibly beautiful, as if an artist made the entire horizon his canvas. Fortunately for all who visit, the Red Rocks are very real and provide the stunning backdrop for our world-class boutique hotel, Amara Resort.

Unprofessional and Completely Unacceptable for a Luxury Spa
Extremely disappointing and unprofessional massage experience. I paid approximately $275, and at one point the therapist (Oscar) was massaging me with one hand while texting on his phone with the other. I actually had to stop him and point out that I was paying over $200 for a massage while he was using his cellphone. The massage itself was disorganized, inconsistent, noisy and careless. There was no smooth flow or attention to detail, and he even asked me an inappropriate personal question about whether I had removed my breast implants. At the end, he told me he would speak to the manager about giving me a discount because of what happened. No manager ever contacted me, no discount was given, and there was no follow-up at all. For a luxury resort spa at this price point, this was completely unacceptable and easily one of the worst massage experiences I’ve had.

Friends' getaway weekend!
Very beautiful location, though if you are looking for more relaxation without kids, this might not be the place. The location is ideal for access to shops and restaurants in the touristy part of town. Food at the Salt Rock restaurant was delicious!
