Ambiente Sedona, A Landscape Hotel

1. The online marketing of this resort is extremely deceptive. The website photos suggest that you will feel like you are in a private resort with no/few people all around you and perfect views of the mountains. In reality, people can see in your room most hours of the day and all night, and you will frequently see people walking by your room (other guests, workers on foot, workers in golf carts). It is so NOT RELAXING to have constant motion in your view and then to also be wondering how good their view is of you laying in bed, getting dressed, etc. It's an incredibly uncomfortable feeling! The mountain views that you see on the website are NOT the views from most of the atriums. We had a Reflections room (middle room category) which was approximately $2,000/night. Our view was of the other buildings (NOT uninterrupted mountains) and people walking by at all hours. (See the photo I uploaded for a sense of what you are looking at outside of your windows.) 2. The person who booked our room strongly suggested a specific atrium and put in the request for our anniversary. Instead of this, we were given a room which had a CONSTANT flow of traffic outside the room which was visible from the windows. We were seeing workers cleaning rooms, workers bringing room service, golf cars driving guests/luggage, guests walking to and from their rooms, etc. The walkways are literally right next to your atrium windows, so it's hard to ignore the activity, and I believe that any room category that is not the highest level will be dealing with the walkway views. (You can confirm this with the resort.) The constant motion outside the windows made us leave the curtains closed a lot, which put the room in complete darkness and defeated the purpose of staying in this resort. If you search the lowest reviews for this resort, you will see that other guests had this same complaint. 3. There is no fitness facility onsite. Instead, you can spend 10 minutes filling out a waiver and then drive yourself into town 2 miles away. Unacceptable for this expensive of a resort. 4. The restaurant was disappointing with small serving sizes and ridiculous prices for the low quality. We planned to eat dinner in the restaurant our first night but smelled a fish entree being served next to us and left. The fish smelled old and really turned us off to the restaurant. Also, the serving sizes for our breakfasts there were extremely small. 5. The pool and hot tub are too small for the size of the resort. The pool was at or near capacity most of the weekend. Even if you can get a lounge chair, you are sitting less than a foot from a total stranger next to you, and if you are near the hot tub, you could be staring face-to-face with the person in the hot tub not far from you. The hot tub fits maybe 6 people comfortably without being super close to other people. The resort has 30 atriums. Do the math. 6. On one of our days, housekeeping forgot to clean our room despite our being gone for 6 hours. We had to request that the room be cleaned and then leave the room again, even though we really just wanted to relax in a clean room. 7. There is no bottled water provided in the rooms. If you want bottled water, you need to haul yourself to a store in town. 8. We advised the manager via text of the various issues that were occurring, but no remedy was offered. 9. There was no espresso maker in the room. Instead, we had to walk a good distance to the lobby and make our own coffee. Note that I said COFFEE and not espresso. This $2000+/night resort did not offer the ability to have espresso when you woke up, even if you were making it yourself in the lobby! Unbelievable! Also, for some of our stay, they did not even have lids that fit the disposable cups. So, by the time you got the coffee back to your room, it was cold! (The resort did offer a small 2-cup pour over concoction which was an absolute mess to make/clean-up/put back in the special composting jar. Again, not worth the work for the resulting lukewarm coffee in a $2000+/night room!) 10. The furniture on the unit rooftops is hard as a rock. We would have loved to spend time up there, but it was painful to do so. 11. Be advised that unlike other resorts, you do not receive an $80/day resort credit; instead, you receive a BREAKFAST ONLY CREDIT. So, if you go on an early hike one day before the restaurant opens and you then have an early lunch at the resort instead, you CANNOT use your $80/day credit on the lunch. (You literally cannot make this stuff up! It's as if this resort has figured out every way to grab additional dollars from every guest.) On a positive note, most of the employees did seem customer-service focused, but they are most definitely limited by all of the negatives noted above, including the design of the facility and other issues.

Excellent hotel, beautiful atmosphere and excellent staff. Highly recommended. Great pool and delightful and delicious breakfast.

Breathtaking views of the red rock Sedona mountains. We stayed in a glass walled private atrium with a private rooftop deck that has a firepit and a daybed along with a cozy place to order breakfast or lunch for room service. The highlight of our stay was laying in our daybed and stargazing by the firepit. The staff is incredibly friendly and make you feel like you are the most important thing in their day. The atmosphere is laid back and warm and the dress code is resort casual. We loved every minute and cannot wait to go back.

We have stayed at high end hotels all over the world and Ambiente is one of the best. The staff was incredible, professional, Warm and inviting. The location is close to town to where we could walk into town but not in the heart of the busy little downtown. If you are looking for an amazing property this is it. The views and rooftop terraces were incredible.

Rooms were beautiful but property layout made the three walls of windows obsolete. What’s the point is all you see are other rooms piled up around. Way overpriced for that reason. Service was great though.
