Best Resort Experience Ever!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 11 hours ago

Let’s start with the beautiful location! Hands down one of the best resorts I’ve ever stayed in. But - what made the experience next level was the staff. - Capt Joe, Anggi, Aaron, Henry, Marlow Jr and Liz!! From Dining to housekeeping … everyone was so kind - so accommodating and really elevated our experience. Thank you L’Auberge!!

Potential to be great but spotty serivce makes it average

The hotel has potential to be great but unfortunately service is not consistent. The SPA was top notch. Front desk was not so great. We wanted a 30min late checkout, were told had to check morning of departure, called ~7am, response was 'sorry we are fully subscribed for late check out'. This is Oct 19 weekend and the hotel appears to be much less than full. For the duration of our stay, room wasn't serviced until late afternoon anyways. We also waited ~50min for a shuttle pick up, three calls to the front desk and each time were told between 5-15 minutes away, we were 5minutes drive away from the hotel, even with traffic. Finally 40min to serve breakfast and not once did the waiter come by, and finally when we went to find him, his response 'sorry kitchen backed up, I can cancel your order if you want (we did get a 25% discount). For Breakfast, food was average at the restaurant. It seemed like some staff were 'less than experienced'. Hotel itself is located at a great spot and rooms we stayed at were renovated. Have to say there were staff who were great, but not consistent and in line with expectation for a luxury hotel.

This place is excellent

We had seen some of the negative reviews but this place looked like a decent place to stay in Sedona so we thought we would give it a go. As another reviewer has said your choice of room probably has a big bearing on the experience. We were in a garden cottage number 24 which we really liked you are tucked out of the way so it’s very quiet but also very close to reception, the car valet and the fitness centre. Our cottage was HUGE we loved it. The cliff rooms were an old motel that the hotel bought and have added capacity. Advantage of being up there is that it’s near to town and the duck pond pool and bar which is lovely, We had none of the service issues reported in other reviews. Front desk very pleasant and efficient, the housekeeping staff were brilliant and cleaned our room so well we were really impressed. Bar staff excellent as were the car valet. Only aspect of the service that needs work is the breakfast. Every morning delays and there seemed to be confusion all round . We had other peoples breakfasts served to us. We weren’t bothered actually we were on vacation and weren’t on a schedule we had breakfast elsewhere in the end but we heard others complaining. So in summary we couldn’t fault this place for its accommodation, service, food and housekeeping. Only the breakfast service was lacking.

Overpriced, understaffed.

I would not recommend this resort. For the service we received, our stay was overpriced and very much under delivered. Some of the issues: (1) It took over an hour to receive our luggage to the room after we arrived, which delayed our evening plans. I called, and no one seemed to know where the luggage was. We would have carried it ourselves had we known. (2) On another occasion, we had left our car at the bottom of the hill (trust me, it’s a hike up) and were told they would bring it to the top so it would be ready for us several hours later when we were ready for dinner. When we went to get the car from valet 3 hours later, there was no car, and the valet at the top of the hill could not reach anyone to bring it to us. We ended up walking to get it ourselves, which would be fine, if I wasn’t paying for valet services as part of the resort fee and wasn’t 8 months pregnant. (3) Do not stay at the top of the hill. While the rooms are fine and do have views of the rocks, we were also directly over a parking lot, which ruined any ambience it might have had. Other rooms are on a main walkway where anyone walking to the pool will be able to look directly into your bedroom. In short, the upper rooms feel like a cheap motel that was renovated to be part of the “resort.” (4) Although we ended up switching rooms to a creekside cabin at the end—which was very peaceful—we woke up to an ant infestation in the morning, so I suppose even those rooms have their issues. (5) Breakfast at the resort was COMPLETELY disorganized 2 of the 3 mornings we ate there. The first morning, service took 1.5 hours. They are clearly understaffed, frazzled, and couldn’t get it together. If you are looking for a leisurely breakfast rather than actually getting out and starting your day, then maybe you are fine. It was not our plan to spend half the morning waiting for our food while drinking cold coffee. (5) This is a minor point but sums up their lack of attention to detail. We were celebrating our babymoon and arrived to a note referencing homemade treats to celebrate. When I called to check on our missing luggage, I also asked about the homemade treats and was told they were out. It is unclear to me why they would leave a note, in that case. However, I was told they would see what they could do to make up for it. There was no follow up. It really isn’t about whatever The treats were, but for what we were paying to be there, and the high expectation of service that I had as a result, I certainly expected more. I would not recommend this resort. By contrast, we stayed at Ambiente for the first half of our trip, and it was a far superior experience. The service and rooms were impeccable. If you are deciding between the two, choose Ambiente.
