Best Place to Celebrate

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

I celebrated my 60th birthday in Seoul, Korea and Conrad Seoul made my stay feel extra special. Every member of the executive team was outstanding and a huge thank you to Irene who checked us in, had a surprise waiting in our room and, when we took a couple days’ trip away from our two-week stay, expertly held our extra luggage for us until we returned. Thanks to Sam Kim and all the staff who made our Hilton Diamond status feel like a gem. We can’t wait to return.

My favorite hotel in the world. Not kidding.

I'm writing this after my second stay here, the first being on my first visit to South Korea in 2023, when this was the first place I stayed after landing. This time, Conrad Seoul was the last place I stayed before heading to the airport. It was the optimal location to raise a glass and celebrate the end of a trip to South Korea, with a stunning view over the river to central Seoul, and flawless, friendly service and accommodations. A meaningful time to pause, reflect, and catch my breath before leaving. After weeks of bumping around to different hotels and vacation rentals around the country, I was truly grateful to sink into a place where everything was spot-on perfect. Special recognition to Jin at Reception for tolerating my poor attempts to speak Korean and for making me feel immediately welcome and excited to be there.

Luxe hotel in a good location

Very plush hotel with stunning views from the bar on the 37th floor and direct access to a shopping mall, which was super convenient. The executive lounge was excellent – great food and a generous selection of wine and spirits from 5–8pm (longer than most). Breakfast was also top quality. The pool was beautiful with crystal-clear water, but you’ll need a swim cap – and they charge rather than lend, which felt a bit cheeky. Gym was well-equipped but uncomfortably warm (25°C). The 37th-floor restaurant had a limited menu, but the bar made up for it with brilliant cocktails. Staff were consistently friendly and helpful. Only downside: no upgrade via Hilton Impressario, despite rooms still showing as available – disappointing. Otherwise, a great stay.

What is GREAT: - The bed and the pillow. (super comfy and airy--not the comforter though. NO Flat Sheets!!!) - The swimming pool - BYREDO amenities - Dyson hair dryer - Evening turn down service What is Good: - The 37th floor Bar (I would have said it's great, except that they did not have three of the wines that we asked for, which was in fact, a "special" in the menu.) - Some of the employees. I want to give a special shout-out to Sophia from 10 G Coffee Shop. But the employees here are neither particularly attentive nor courteous. I mean, they are "nice," but I felt like there was a lot of room for improvement, especially when you asked them questions. I think it had to do with the fact that the lobby was ALWAYS packed. But I felt rushed and unwelcome by the guests. For instance, when I asked what the quality of the breakfast at the executive lounge was like, (depending answer, I was going to decide if paying 25,000 per person for breakfast was worth it. I told the person that I was asking this because I was debating this option.) the person responded by telling me in a demeaning manner (like women if you don't want to pay extra just eat at the lounge kind of thing haha) about WHAT AN EXECUTIVE LOUGNE WAS, WITH a special addition that I would not be allowed to use the afternoon tea on the day of check out (I wasn't planning on it so haha). The breakfast buffet (that I did pay for) was worth it only if you like Chinese food. Also, when a guy came to give me my "welcome" chocolate, he just "handed" it to me in front of my room door (like some food stamp). I didn't expect them to set it up on the table as they did at EVERY 5-star hotel I've been to, but he was so rushed that I couldn't even thank the guy. I mean, he was just RUDE. What needs improvement: - The linens and the slippers (pictures included). Perhaps I'm spoiled by Park Hyatt Seoul <3(especially as a Globalist. Becoming a Globalist at the Hyatt is worth every penny. They are the NICEST, regardless of wher eyou go. I am only "gold" at Hilton, so maybe that explains why the employees were not so nice to me) but the linen (especially the bath sized towels) and the slippers were of poor quality. It's probably the worst I've seen at what is supposed to be a FIVE-star hotel. What is BAD: - The decor of the room is...euphemistically said...interesting. I still don't comprehend two things. First, why is the dryer (albeit it's a Dyson lol) on top of the working desk? Every time I tried to dry my hair, I had to move the phone because the line got tangled together. Second, why would you have a sneaker bar laid out as if it were an artistic object? Overall, the minibar items they displayed, as-if they were aesthetic objects, gave off (sorry, but really) just a generally cheap vibe. BY THE WAY, the wine from the minibar was actually SOUR. BUT I didn't want to argue, so I just took a bath with it and paid 35,000 won for it when I checked out. - There was mold at the corner of the shower stall... small but visible.
