The Westin Josun Seoul

Stayed here for 3 nights on business. It was my first time in Seoul, and the hotel was conveniently located near Myeongdong, which was great for some after-work touristy stuff. The hotel was established in 1910 and was the first Western-style hotel on the Korean Peninsula, which was super interesting for history nerds like me. Historical buildings were dotted all around the hotel, including the Hwangudan Altar, located right by the hotel entrance. The room was a bit dated, but nevertheless spacious and well-equipped. The front desk and concierge team were also really polite and professional. I did have some issues during my stay, unfortunately. Due to the election day public holiday, our Korea office was closed, and I had to work from the hotel on that day. The wifi was really spotty and would randomly disconnect every hour or so, which kicked me out of an important meeting. Housekeeping was also very perplexing: they entered my room, refilled the bottled water, and left without doing anything else. The bed was not made, and the towels were unchanged. Didn’t even take the trash out. But they did remember to write me a bill for the toothbrush and toothpaste, which I found out that, due to a government policy, were not provided for free. This review was originally posted on Google, and I posted it the night before I checked out. The review was read in a couple of hours, and the duty manager, Hazel, personally came when I was checking out and offered to arrange a one-way airport transfer on the house for me. I had a wonderful time with Peter on my way to the airport, who was kind enough to share all the places of interest along the way. I typically do not accept comps from hotels, and I certainly do not change my review as I want to share my honest experience. I made an exception this time as the staff handled the service recovery with grace and sincerity, and I believe all hotels should take note on how to turn a not so positive experience into something a guest would appreciate and remember. I would recommend future guests to consider The Westin Josun when you visit Seoul because I know that you'll be well taken care of, and even if you catch them on a bad day, as I did, they will more than make sure to make it right for you.

Excellent location with nice amenities and very friendly staff, including a helpful concierge. The room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel was quiet at night. I enjoyed my stay and would gladly return. ​

From the very moment I arrived at The Westin Josun Seoul, I felt that this hotel was truly different. Driving into the busy heart of Seoul from a provincial area was not easy. While I was circling nearby, unable to find the parking entrance, a staff member actually ran outside to guide me. At that moment, I realized that genuine hospitality had already begun. During check-in, every staff member showed sincere attention rather than routine politeness. I would especially like to commend Mr. Anton Yoo (Yoo Hee-hwan) at the Front Desk. His service was not only professional but also incredibly warm and thoughtful—more like being welcomed by family than by hotel staff. It was not a fleeting smile, but kindness rooted in sincerity. The location of this hotel is exceptional. Situated within walking distance of Gwanghwamun, City Hall, Gyeongbokgung Palace, and Myeongdong, it truly feels like the heart of Seoul. Yet once inside, the atmosphere becomes calm, elegant, and comforting. The hotel is grand and luxurious without being overwhelming—busy, yet beautifully organized. In the evening, the surrounding area offers countless places to explore, adding a sense of excitement that continues until you return to the hotel. The energy of the neighborhood and the hotel complement each other perfectly, making the stay even more memorable. Having stayed in many hotels, I can confidently say this is not just a “good hotel,” but one that makes you want to return. If you are looking for the hotel of hotels in Seoul, The Westin Josun Seoul is a place I wholeheartedly recommend. 웨스틴 조선 서울에 도착한 순간부터 이곳은 “다르다”는 느낌을 받았습니다. 지방에서 차를 가지고 서울 한복판으로 들어오는 길은 솔직히 쉽지 않았습니다. 복잡한 도로에서 주차장을 찾지 못해 잠시 주변을 돌고 있을 때, 직원분이 직접 밖으로 뛰어나와 주차를 안내해 주셨습니다. 그 순간, 이 호텔의 서비스는 이미 시작되고 있었습니다. 체크인 과정에서도 형식적인 친절이 아니라, 직원 한 분 한 분이 눈을 맞추고 진심으로 관심을 가져주는 태도가 인상 깊었습니다. 특히 **Front Desk의 유희환님(Anton Yoo)**의 응대는 잊기 어렵습니다. 업무적으로 능숙할 뿐 아니라, 가족을 맞이하듯 섬세하고 따뜻한 배려가 느껴졌습니다. 반짝이는 친절이 아니라, 오래 몸에 밴 진심이었습니다. 이 호텔의 가장 큰 매력은 위치입니다. 광화문, 시청, 경복궁, 명동까지 걸어서 닿을 수 있는 서울의 중심에 있으면서도, 호텔 안에 들어오면 아늑하고 안정된 분위기가 흐릅니다. 크고 고급스럽지만 과하지 않고, 분주하지만 질서가 있는 공간. 그래서 더 품격이 느껴집니다. 저녁이 되면 주변에 갈 곳이 많아 설렘이 커지고, 그 설렘은 다시 호텔로 돌아오는 순간까지 이어집니다. 주변 환경과 호텔의 분위기가 서로를 더 빛나게 만드는 곳입니다. 많은 호텔을 다녀봤지만, 이곳은 단순히 “좋은 호텔”이 아니라 다시 찾고 싶어지는 호텔, 기억에 남는 호텔입니다. 서울에서 호텔 중의 호텔을 찾는다면, 저는 주저 없이 웨스틴 조선 서울을 추천하겠습니다.

We had a first class experience stay at Westin Josun Seoul in Dec 24. We planned to re-visit Seoul in Dec 25. Obviously we decided to stay again at Westin Josun Seoul. Our request for connecting rooms ( for family of four) were granted promptly . The rooms were clean and spacious. The king size beds were wide and comfortable for 2 adults. The hotel was very close to the various shopping venues which delighted my wife and daughter. To top it up, the reception and service were the best and warmest we had so far. Kudos for keeping up such high standards . We will definitely stay there for our next soon visit!
