Arrriving very late in the evening, the welcome was warm. There was however no orientation on the hotel, instead I was prompted to scan a QR code. A porter assisted with taking the luggage to my room. Booking a standard deluxe, I opted at check in for an upgrade for an additional charge to a superior room. The room assigned had a loud electrical buzzing sound auditable in the lounge seating area. Reporting to reception the following morning, the issue initially appeared resolved. However it recurred later that day - the engineer highlighting it was emitting from an electricity box. On discussing with reception they agreed to a room move, albeit this took an extended telephone conversation between staff for it to be arranged. There was no apology for the inconvenience, noting I had to repack, nor concern that an electricity board was buzzing - which is clearly a safety concern. The new room had the same floor plan, beautifully appointed and recently decorated. Sleep quality was very good. It also had the added benefit of a large outdoor area with dining table, lounge setting and sun beds which proved perfect for a relaxing afternoon. That said, building works within the hotel were audible on the Fri and Mon (banging, drilling, etc). A few attention to detail issues with in room maintainance however - one of the sinks had a slow drain, both televisions were mounted at an angle, the toilet roll holder was loose, and the lavatory seat was minus rubber bumpers let alone a soft close hinge. Some housekeeping issues during the stay, with turndown service omitted on two days and main servicing on one. On each occasion, I brought it to the attention of guest services - noting for the main room servicing it still took a further 45 mins for housekeeping to appear. The hotel’s guest floors are thoughtfully decorated, paying homeage to Spanish masters. The view from the rooftop pool is lovely, albeit it is more of a splash pool, and given the intensity of the sun in summertime only practical mornings and evenings. The guest elevator was somewhat rickety and soulless, more at place in a shopping centre than a luxury hotel. There were also a few carpet stains throughout the public spaces. See photos. During the stay I found the service from the doorman/porters poor. Especially with a premium hotel, a warm greeting when entering the hotel is the norm - but not at Hotel Colon. It is also the only 5 star I have ever stayed (in 58 countries) where the porter has not offered to help with loading luggage into the taxi, instead just standing there at his desk. Breakfast was great. Friendly and attentive staff. A nice selection of buffet items as well as a la carte for hot food and freshly made juices. Seating felt a little cramped however. Located in the centre of Seville I opted to dine out for lunch and dinner, so can’t comment on those. Noting the vegetarian options on the hotel menus were limited. The bar lacked atmosphere, in part due to lighting being too bright. It was very quiet in the evening, with the exception of Saturday when they had a flamenco dancer. On asking a waitress for a menu, I had a QR code thrust at me - I asked if I could have a physical menu but was bluntly told no before she just walked off. It is ridiculous that a LHW would not have printed menus, noting the restaurant - which the bar is part of - does. My room service experience was limited to a mid-afternoon request for ice - it took 30 mins to arrive and only then after a follow up call. In all, an ok stay at a reasonable price for the quality of accommodation, convenient location and friendly breakfast staff. Some significant improvements required to service before I would consider returning however.

What a beautiful hotel in Seville Glad that this was luxurious. Unlike Melia hotels affiliated! Which I strongly don’t ever suggest trying. This was stunning from the luxurious aroma as you enter the public areas. To the helpful staff. The rooms were lovely The breakfast needs a little help. I don’t think it’s adequate for a 5 star hotel. The restaurant breakfast staff were rude! Loved the hotel!!!! Please get the waiter counter outside cleaned painted. It’s soo ugly to sit on the pretty sidewalk looking at this see photo … staff of the breakfast restaurant are RUDE
