Denis Private Island Seychelles

This destination was billed as “barefoot luxury and island chic”. We didn’t feel it was either. With some improvement, tweaks and a greater focus on guests this resort could be exceptional. The positives - The head chef is very good and there are good choices of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. Some of the food was exceptional. - Generally all staff are welcoming and friendly; especially Dannisha at the front desk. - The complementary bottle of Prosecco in our room on arrival was a nice touch. - Plenty of wardrobe space in the villa. - The arrival by small plane was fun. - It’s possible to spot turtles, occasional rays and reef sharks from the shoreline. - The beaches around the resort were very clean. We came here as we were advised there were “excellent snorkelling and diving opportunities around the island”. At the time of our visit the hotel’s occupancy was 43% so not busy. It was therefore hugely disappointing that during our four night stay they could not offer us a snorkelling trip to the reef as they were too busy. The only slot they could offer was on the morning of our departure. For the price we paid we expected more. For example minimal and low quality toiletries in the bathroom. Shower gel and shampoo were provided but left your hair feeling like straw. Other than these products a sanitary bag, a shower cap and a sewing kit were provided. Body lotion was provided on request. Thin towels and bathrobes, basic bed linen rather than luxurious. Mosquitoes were rife during our stay and although we used maximum strength Deet we were extensively bitten. Whilst there is a mosquito net around the bed it’s not effective as it does not seal in the bed so every morning we had yet more bites as did other guests. We asked for a plug in mosquito repellent (or similar) for our room but they don’t have them. The dining room as you would expect is open to the elements but no repellents were ever used. Staff were genial enough but lacked some training ie one didn’t understand the concept of a corked bottle of wine. Meal times are set. Breakfast is 8am-10am Lunch 1pm-2pm and the evening meal is 8pm-10pm - the latter being a bit late for us. The resort offers a complementary buggy tour of the island. We visited the resorts own farm which bred for consumption, beef, pigs, chickens, goats, ducks and rabbits. What we witnessed left a lot to be desired. Animals including tortoises, pigs, rabbits etc are kept in overcrowded pens with no opportunities to freely roam. Without doubt there is considerable scope to improve the standards of animal husbandry. Tortoises are bred here and pens were pretty full but we were told they are part of a breeding programme for conservation and transportation to other islands. On one occasion we returned to our chalet to find our back garden gate open and someone had defecated in the toilet and had not flushed it away. We found this totally unsatisfactory for a so called ‘luxury resort’. We took this up with the general manager who said he would get back to us. We heard no more but the cleaning manager subsequently apologised and arranged for our room to be re-cleaned. There are no locks on the rooms or a safe for valuables. We were told to check out our room at 10.00 am for a 12.15 pm flight and told to hang around the lobby until departure. We were surprised to hear that no other guests were arriving that day and the occupancy was so low, so why did we need to check out our room so early? We could have enjoyed time on the beach and had time to refresh before departure. Denis island did not meet our expectations… this was supposed to be the highlight of our anniversary trip but sadly fell short. We were so disappointed after travelling thousands of miles that we didn’t have the opportunity to visit the reef. Simple actions and gestures could transform this place from mediocre to exceptional. Dannisha at the front desk was very professional and was grateful for our feedback. As a relatively new employee she is a good ambassador for the brand - hopefully she will be allowed to be a force for positive change.

An unforgettable breakfast at Denis Island! 🥰 The eggs Benedict prepared by Chef Robert were absolutely delicious — perfectly cooked, beautifully presented and full of flavour. We recently stayed at Denis Private Island to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, and it turned into a trip we’ll always remember. From the moment we landed, the staff made us feel welcome. We were taken to the resort by buggy, and on the way we were already greeted by giant tortoises, which made me smile because they’re my favourite animals. Our cottage was beautiful, spacious, and just a few steps from a stunning beach with powder white sand and crystal clear turquoise water. It felt like having our own private paradise. The staff also helped make the birthday extra special. Our bedroom had been beautifully decorated, we enjoyed a romantic private dinner on the beach under the stars, and the next morning they surprised my boyfriend with a birthday cake at breakfast. These thoughtful touches made the celebration even more memorable. One of my favourite ways to explore the island was by bicycle. It’s peaceful, surrounded by nature, and a wonderful way to discover the beauty of the island at your own pace. I have to admit I was nervous about flying on the small plane because I’m scared of small aircraft, but the views during the flight were absolutely breathtaking and made the journey part of the experience. Denis Island is the perfect place if you’re looking to disconnect from busy life, enjoy nature, and simply relax. Thank you to the whole team for making this birthday celebration so special. We left with memories that will stay with us forever.

What a fabulous experience! Without doubt one of the best holiday destinations I've stayed at. Of course, being a Private Island, this is an expensive place to go but my fiancé and I chose this as the place we wanted to get married and enjoy our honeymoon as part of a longer stay in the Seychelles. Everything about Denis Island surpassed our expectations. The beauty of the island, from the amazing beaches to the conservation area and the various tracks you can explore / cycle. The quality of the food, almost all grown, farmed or caught on or near the Island, totally organic and with zero waste, this farm to table was plentiful and so varied and tasty. The Staff so friendly, attentive and good at what they do. The chalets, private and comfortable and well equipped with use of bikes to explore the island. The Wedding day itself, well planned and organised in a beautiful spot and with the most delicious romantic dinner on the beach afterward. We can't speak highly enough of the experience we had, the memories we've made and the desire we have to go back again one day for a future anniversary perhaps.

We enjoyed truly magical moments at Denis. Everything was flawless: the service was exceptionally attentive, and the setting so serene, immaculate, and soothing that it felt like a sanctuary. Snorkeling at Denis was, without doubt, the most enchanting experience we have ever shared. I already find myself longing to return, again and again.
