Where the ancient squarely meets the modern, and western reality blends with eastern fantasy, China is an enchanting land offering among the most vibrant enclaves on earth. While it's easy to lose yourself in its and fascinating history, the country's contemporary face is equally enthralling. Located along the famed Huangpu River, Pudong Shangri-La lives up to its luxury reputation in personalized service, modern amenities, the city's most spacious guestrooms, and breathtaking views of Shanghai's legendary waterfront. Brilliant examples of French and British architecture remain in the old French Concession. For glimpses of what the country was like thousands of years ago, visit the Old Chinese City. At The Shanghai Museum, the bronze collection is reputedly the best in the world.

I checked in yesterday and found that the river view room at Grand Building is not as advertised in the picture shown in Expedia where I booked my room. There is a big block of an old Shangri la building right in front of our big glass window. We are at room 2059. We can't see full view of the bund, only 60% of the bund view . We are looking in to guest room at old building. I could see guest activities in the room. So at night , I can't on the light if I want privacy and the have curtain open . But picture in Expedia shows full view. Looks like only after 27 floor you get a full view since is above the old building. But the river view rooms are assigned from 20 floor onwards. So don't book here for bund view , waste of money with full of disappointment. Even indoor swimming pool is shared with swimming training club. The pool has 5 lap swimmers and I did not have space to do my lap swim since the pool was not big in the first place . So disappointed, had high hope. Chose this over Grand Hyatt. Checking out today.

This was my second stay at Pudong Shangri-La, and once again it was a memorable experience. As with my previous stay in 2024, I was fortunate to have a room with a stunning view of the Bund. The day and night views of Shanghai's skyline are simply spectacular and one of the highlights of staying at this hotel. This time, I also had access to the Horizon Lounge, which added another level to the experience. Although I spent most evenings out exploring Shanghai and didn't get the chance to enjoy the evening drinks service, I thoroughly enjoyed breakfast in the lounge each morning. The selection was excellent, with a wide variety of both Asian and Western options, and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. The service throughout the hotel was outstanding. The housekeeping team did a fantastic job, and I believe I may even have had the same housekeeper who looked after my room during my 2024 stay. The room was always impeccably maintained, and her attention to detail was greatly appreciated. The ladies in the Horizon Lounge were exceptional warm, welcoming, attentive, and genuinely friendly. They made every visit a pleasure. I was also very impressed with the Concierge team. They were always available to help, whether arranging taxis, recommending restaurants, assisting with my trip to Suzhou, or ensuring packages delivered to the hotel were promptly sent to my room. I also noticed that more staff members were able to communicate confidently in English compared with my previous visit, which made everything even easier. What stands out most about Pudong Shangri-La is the consistency of its service. Returning guests are made to feel genuinely welcome, and the staff's professionalism and hospitality are a real credit to the hotel. I look forward to returning on my next visit to Shanghai.
