Where the ancient squarely meets the modern, and western reality blends with eastern fantasy, China is an enchanting land offering among the most vibrant enclaves on earth. While it's easy to lose yourself in its and fascinating history, the country's contemporary face is equally enthralling. Located along the famed Huangpu River, Pudong Shangri-La lives up to its luxury reputation in personalized service, modern amenities, the city's most spacious guestrooms, and breathtaking views of Shanghai's legendary waterfront. Brilliant examples of French and British architecture remain in the old French Concession. For glimpses of what the country was like thousands of years ago, visit the Old Chinese City. At The Shanghai Museum, the bronze collection is reputedly the best in the world.

Among all the five star hotels I’ve stayed at, this one is the single most disappointing one ever. Do not book a room in their “Grand Tower”. The rooms in Grand Tower 紫金楼 are extremely outdated. I thought I time traveled to the 90s when I stepped into the hotel. My room had a faint smell of cigarettes. I booked it with Amex FHR but I got probably one of the worst rooms in the building. This is the first time and the last time I ever stay here. I’m very surprised by the high rating on TripAdvisor.

This hotel is extremely nice, with such an excellent service from the personnel and beautiful facilities. The views from the room are beautiful. Quality of restaurant was very good.

Alan at the Shangri-La Hotel in Pudong went above and beyond during my stay. From the moment I arrived, he made everything effortless, arranging multiple appointments, coordinating details on my behalf, and making sure everything ran perfectly on schedule. He was unbelievably helpful, patient, and professional, but more than that, he genuinely cared about making my experience exceptional. You can tell he takes real pride in what he does. Alan embodies the best of Shangri-La hospitality: kind, detail-oriented, and proactive in every way. If you’re staying at the Shangri-La Pudong, find Alan. He’s the reason my trip ran so smoothly.

Shangri-La's hotel, which always touches me, deserves recommendations from any location. Their service is touching.

The location of the hotel is good close proximity to Shanghai tower, Breakfast provided is very good, Room was comfortable and had a fabulous view of the river and city. Worth choosing a Club Access room. Disliked · The issue I have, is one I find in all non English speaking countries, hotels want international travelers but they continually fall down when employing staff for front of house positions who have little or poor English understanding. In the case of Shangri-La most staff I interacted with had no English understanding and I found myself having to walk around and find an employee who understood english. Aside from this I would stay again
