Where the ancient squarely meets the modern, and western reality blends with eastern fantasy, China is an enchanting land offering among the most vibrant enclaves on earth. While it's easy to lose yourself in its and fascinating history, the country's contemporary face is equally enthralling. Located along the famed Huangpu River, Pudong Shangri-La lives up to its luxury reputation in personalized service, modern amenities, the city's most spacious guestrooms, and breathtaking views of Shanghai's legendary waterfront. Brilliant examples of French and British architecture remain in the old French Concession. For glimpses of what the country was like thousands of years ago, visit the Old Chinese City. At The Shanghai Museum, the bronze collection is reputedly the best in the world.

Well located hotel in the Lujiazui financial district. Rooms are comfortable and I do like the Asian touches in the tea selection. Housekeeping is amazing.

This was our first time in Shanghai. I am glad that I booked the accommodation at Shangri-La Pudong. First of all, the hotel has perfect location with stunning views overlooking the Bund. It is in walking distance from the Pearl Tower. There are several restaurants by the river just outside the hotel. The hotel has old world charm. We stayed in the older wing with Horizon club access. Rooms are a bit worn out but perfectly clean. We had a stunning river view accross the Bund. The room was spacious and clean. I want to thank Mr Kenny Ooi and James at the Horizon Club Lounge. Kenny made us feel so wellcome. He provided us with useful information and helped with transportations etc. Kenny is very professional, speaks fluent English (that is not common in China). He is a real gem for the hotel. I would recommend to book a room with a Horizon Club access. The view from the Lounge is just georgeous. They serve breakfast, afternoon tea and evening canapes and drinks at the lounge. It is relaxing to stay at the lounge after a busy day. There is an inside swimming pool, whirlpool, steamroom and a sauna at the hotel. The facilities are open til late in the evening. That is highly appreciated and relaxing after a busy day. Thank you Shanri-La.

After a very satisfying experience in 2024 with Shangri La Pudong, my husband and I came back earlier this month to stay for 6 nights . Besides its great location, and valued cleanliness , the main reason for our return was Kenny Ooi, the ever so courteous and attentive Assistant Manager at the Horizon Club. As with our last experience, Kenny made us felt so welcomed throughout our stay this time. He even remembered our names! We observed that he was as caring and professional toward all the guests. With Kenny leading his Horizon team at Shangri La Pudong, this is the place to be in Shanghai for us, and we will not hesitate to recommend it to all our friends and family.

Pudong Shangri-La hits it right on the mark in so many ways. Location, style, service, and more. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, especially in the public areas. The service is excellent. The breakfast is very impressive (although there is room for improvement in small areas). The location is mind-blowingly perfect. Some details: Location - literally a 10 minute walk (or less) from 2 subway lines. LOTS of attractions within just a few metro stops/transfers. Right next to the Pearl Tower. Overlooking the Bund. I mean.. I don't think you can get any better in Shanghai! The service was so good. Any requests via phone to bring something to our room (towels, extra water bottles, bucket of ice, etc) were handled very quickly (side benefit for China, you don't need to tip people for every little thing). Besides front desk staff, they also had a couple young women in uniform sort of standing in key traffic areas to answer questions and help people find where they were going. The breakfast staff was super friendly and effective. On the breakfast note: At first glance, it's amazing. The visuals and layout of this buffet are above and beyond the best I've ever seen. Their are plenty of coffee machines, and tons of food options. For the most part, the food itself is good to great. HOWEVER the only thing I would suggest is for the hotel to offer more dishes that include meat. As it stands, everything is super carbohydrate-heavy aside from just eating some variety of eggs. For those of us who favor high protein diets, your choices are pretty limited. Consequently, we very much enjoyed our first couple days at breakfast, but on days 3 and 4, it was starting to get "old". In comparison, we once stayed at a hotel in Bangkok whose buffet had more meat dishes, and did more "rotating" of dishes so the offerings weren't the same every single day. I can't finish this review without commenting on the fitness/locker rooms. The fitness center is pretty well equipped.. certainly more than adequate for the average person who enjoys weight training. The locker room was mind-blowing! So many amenities, private shower stalls, lockers, q-tips, blow dryer, lotions, etc. Also each locker room (men/women) has it's own jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, and "cool" plunge tub. And to top it all off, it's available 24 hours a day! If you're visiting Shanghai, you really can't go wrong with Pudong Shangri-La. Highly HIGHLY recommended!
