Hotel in Shanghai – The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

Hotel in Shanghai – The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong Since I’m a member of Marriott Bonvoy, of course, I chose this magnificent hotel. I arranged a transfer from the train station to the hotel in a luxurious S-class vehicle — the ride took 40 minutes. I was greeted like a VIP 😊 The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong offers a luxurious urban retreat with breathtaking views of the Huangpu River and The Bund. Guests can enjoy premium amenities, including an indoor pool and a world-class spa. The hotel itself exudes luxury and comfort — you feel completely at home. Their customer service is absolutely outstanding!!! I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the hotel staff for treating me like a VIP, for every little detail and thoughtful touch. A special thanks to @Kim_Euna — Yana, you are a wonderful person. Thank you for your dedication, and thanks to the universe for bringing us together. I will always remember the time I spent there! The hotel gave me exclusive gifts, noticed subtle details in my look, and wrote me warm wishes that brought tears to my eyes! I highly recommend this hotel — if you are in Shanghai, this is the only place to stay. You won’t regret it!

Great view and service

I stayed in Pudong RC on 16th Jan with my wife and daughter to celebrate my daughter’s 6-year-old birthday. The hotel is great and the river view room is perfect. Joyce from Sales department helped me a lot on the booking. The club lounge is so nice that every staff is very kind. That is a really perfect stay.

Much preferred over St. Regis on the Bund

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

After two rather underwhelming stays at the St. Regis on the Bund, I decided to mix it up by staying at a different higher-end Marriott property, and one that's on the other side of the river (the Pudong side). I always enjoyed the view of Pudong from the Bund properties, but I found that the views of the Bund itself is equally mesmerizing. You can't go wrong either way - it just depends on which side of the Huangpu River is more convenient for you. My primary gripe with the St. Regis has to do with its low-quality breakfast offerings. The buffet's selections are a bit limited and rarely changes from day to day, and some of the options look like they've been sitting there for longer than they should. By contrast, the Ritz-Carlton Pudong had a much nicer spread, with many of the choices changing daily. Simple things like fruit and pastries were also a higher standard than at St. Regis. The rooms were similar, which is surprising. I generally prefer StR to the RC as I find the latter design and decor to be dark and less airy, but here, that's not the case. There's also plenty of space to place one's belongings (there was a dedicated closet that was large enough to fit one's rollaboard), even in an entry-level room. Service wise, they're comparable - I'd give a slight edge to the Ritz in terms of the staff's English quality, however, which made the stay more comfortable. Overall, the RC is a reasonably priced upper-tier property that won't break the bank (not compared to the Peninsula, for instance); for business travelers, this certainly fits the bill nicely.

Amazing staff and top notch service

This stay was a special occasion where I was celebrating a major life milestone through a long trip in Asia, along with my closest cousin. from the moment I booked this stay, my travel agent team worked tirelessly with the hotel to appoint treats, cards and memobilia for our stay. I informed them my cousin's favorite snacks, sent them our photos taken at earlier stays of other Ritz Carltons, and informed the hotel to anticipate our arrival. As soon as I arrived onto the property, the bellman recognized me and greeted our arrival. All of our luggages (there were a lot as this is the last stop of my trip) were swiftly carried away by the bellman team, and we were escorted to the 52th floor for check in. From there, 6 different Ladies of Ritz greeted me by name, showed us around multiple amenities of the hotels and our room, and our room was just over the top packed with goodies, picture frames, balloons and hand written cards. Many people collects Ritz's room key as it is unique to each property. Joyce, one of the directors greeted me earlier, anticipated this and went a step further by providing us the shanghai ritz key card with my name printed directly on it! The room was spacious and had a fantastic view of the bund. During the evening, they delivered a plate of macaroons to our room, along with an AI prepared cartoon picture of us printed directly on the plate. The hotel offered us 4pm late checkout without the need of me ever to ask, or even negotiate, unlike a few other marriott properties these days. Breakfast at the Ritz, needless to say, is always top notch, with a balanced spread between east and west, I opted for some beautifully presented, made to order eggs Benedicts. Upon checkout, we were given 2 beautiful travel luggage tags for our keepsake, with the bellman team again swiftly bringing all of my luggage from the room and load it into my ride, without me ever lifting a finger. With the abundant amount of care by the Ladies and Gentlemen of Ritz Pudong, I cannot recommend this property more!
