Experience a nostalgic moment in a modern city at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong, a hotel that seamlessly enfolds its Art Deco heritage into a brilliant contemporary design. Located on the upper floors of a stylish 58-floor tower in Lujiazui, in the very heart of Shanghai’s commercial, financial and upscale retail center, this luxury hotel's stunning views of the Bund and Oriental Pearl Tower is just one of the memorable experiences guests will take away from Shanghai.

I stayed 3 nights at this hotel during my short trip to Shanghai to celebrate my partner’s birthday. I was upgraded to a Bund View room using my Marriott Nightly Upgrade Awards. While some may prefer the Pearl Tower view, the Bund view is also breathtaking. The room was spacious and well maintained. Breakfast offered a good variety with more western-style. And you can enjoy it with a stunning view. The staff at this hotel is really exceptional. Kudos to Daisy from the concierge team for the arrangements prior my arrival, Doris for helping me for the lion plush, Hina at Flair for her warm hospitality, and the manager (whose name I didn’t catch) at the breakfast restaurant who remembered me each morning. I would recommend this hotel.

My wife and I stayed for 6 nights at this high-quality hotel. We upgraded to Club Lounge level and the hotel staff upgraded our room to a suite with Bund view. Location: The hotel is in a superb location in Pudong. It is directly linked to a high-end shopping mall and the underground Metro. Didis and taxis will pick-up and drop-off guests at the hotels front door. The hotel is also within walking distance of Pudong’s main attractions, including the Jin Mao Tower, the Oriental pearl TV Tower, Shanghai Ocean Aquarium and Huangpu River. Hotel entrance on ground floor: This area is a bustle of activity and well-manned at all times; the concierge are incredibly helpful and patient (e.g. in dealing with Didi rides and providing advice), the ‘doormen’ always opening doors and welcoming people back to the hotel with a smile and the superb service continues at the lift doors, where another member of staff is always present to guide people in and out. Hotel foyer on floor 52: This is the area in which the hotel’s front desk is situated. Again, this area is well-served by staff who are proactive and incredibly helpful and kind. They have time to talk to you and to make you feel important and at home in this fabulous environment. Room and bathroom: We stayed in a suite with incredible views of the Bund. It was spacious, elegant, superbly decorated in art-deco style and contained everything that we needed or wanted during our stay. The quality continued through to the dazzling open-plan bathroom and luxury Toto electronic toilets. Club Lounge: This lounge was our sanctuary for our stay in Shanghai during the warmest time of year. The staff in general were incredibly polite and friendly and many went above and beyond to provide personal service that left a lasting impression. Furthermore, the views over the Bund and the Huangpu river are mesmerising, no matter what time of day, and the furnishings and decor add charm and sophistication. Perhaps more importantly of all, the food on offer for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and an evening meal is of high quality and well-presented. Chefs cook to order at the live cooking area. This Club Lounge is definitely worth the additional cost and has its own check-in and check-out area, providing guests with a truly personal and memorable service. The hotel has four places where guests can eat: a Michelin starred Chinese restaurant – Jin Xuan, Scena di Angelo (Italian), Flair rooftop restaurant and bar (incredible views) and Aura Lounge. During our stay we visited the Aura Lounge and Scena di Angelo (twice). The food and service at the latter was exquisite. We also spent some time relaxing at the swimming pool on three occasions, late afternoon. This was also a positive experience, incredibly easy to use, well laid-out and manned by one and sometimes two life-guards at all times. We had a superb all-round experience at this hotel and would return in a flash when visiting Shanghai again. It truly delivers in reality, what it promises online and in its brochures. The staff are very well-trained and offer high-quality service and attention to detail. I could name a number that went above and beyond their expected duties, all part of the very strong team led by their highly competent general manager at the Ritz Carlton Pudong.

Wonderful 3 night stay here. Best views ever! Ashin was so welcoming and made sure that our stay was amazing. The room was clean, comfortable and in a really beautiful style. Plus the view of the bund and across the river was stunning. The breakfast options were huge and their fresh juices delicious and plentiful.

Just left Shanghai with an amazing experience at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong. The room was extremely spacious, and the beds are very comfortable. We stayed in a room with a Pearl Tower view, and it's truly a stunning sight, especially when the lights turn on at night and The Bund is lit up while the Pearl Tower sparkles. The breakfast offers a wide selection of food, and the different food offerings at the Club floor were a nice surprise every day. Claire, at the Club Lounge floor, was super helpful and efficient with all our requests. Do dine at Jin Xuan, the Chinese restaurant, for impressive Cantonese cuisine. The spa team was lovely and attentive. The latest Bloom 360 experience is unlike any other, and I appreciate the care and thought put behind the whole experience. It's relaxing, personalised, and suited for those who are in search for mental clarity as well as relaxation. The cod dish I selected was delicious and the perfect post-spa treat. Thank you to the spa director Monica and masseuse Sophia for taking care of your guests so well! Finally, a huge shoutout to Jane and Susie of the Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong team! They took care of every detail and made sure we had an exceptional stay—working efficiently on weekends as well to handle unforeseen changes.

During my vacation in Shanghai, I chose The Ritz-Carlton Pudong, Shanghai as one of my places to stay—and it turned out to be the right decision. This hotel truly left a lasting impression on me. The room was spacious and spotless, and I highly recommend booking a room with a Pearl Tower view—it’s absolutely stunning. The bathroom was fully equipped with luxury amenities: an automatic bidet toilet, a powerful rain shower, and Diptyque bath products that made every shower feel indulgent. The room’s air conditioning worked perfectly, and the curtains could be opened and closed automatically, adding to the sense of comfort and modernity. Special thanks to Ashin Liu and Rosy from Guest Recognition. Before my stay, there was a minor issue, but Ashin Liu resolved it wonderfully and provided a solution that made my stay even more memorable. Rosy was also extremely kind and friendly. From the moment I checked in, she personally escorted me while explaining the hotel facilities, and during check-out, she thoughtfully followed up on my previous requests. Their service truly made a difference, especially since I was celebrating a special occasion. Thank you, Ashin Liu and Rosy—I will never forget your exceptional hospitality. I highly recommend this luxurious hotel, especially for those celebrating a special moment—you won’t be disappointed. I’ve tried several other luxury hotels in Shanghai, but The Ritz-Carlton Pudong is simply the best. My tip: choose a room with Club Lounge access for an even more perfect experience. And don’t forget to visit Flair to enjoy the breathtaking view of Shanghai from sunset into the night. I honestly can’t wait to return for another stay at this Hotel.
