The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong

This stay was a special occasion where I was celebrating a major life milestone through a long trip in Asia, along with my closest cousin. from the moment I booked this stay, my travel agent team worked tirelessly with the hotel to appoint treats, cards and memobilia for our stay. I informed them my cousin's favorite snacks, sent them our photos taken at earlier stays of other Ritz Carltons, and informed the hotel to anticipate our arrival. As soon as I arrived onto the property, the bellman recognized me and greeted our arrival. All of our luggages (there were a lot as this is the last stop of my trip) were swiftly carried away by the bellman team, and we were escorted to the 52th floor for check in. From there, 6 different Ladies of Ritz greeted me by name, showed us around multiple amenities of the hotels and our room, and our room was just over the top packed with goodies, picture frames, balloons and hand written cards. Many people collects Ritz's room key as it is unique to each property. Joyce, one of the directors greeted me earlier, anticipated this and went a step further by providing us the shanghai ritz key card with my name printed directly on it! The room was spacious and had a fantastic view of the bund. During the evening, they delivered a plate of macaroons to our room, along with an AI prepared cartoon picture of us printed directly on the plate. The hotel offered us 4pm late checkout without the need of me ever to ask, or even negotiate, unlike a few other marriott properties these days. Breakfast at the Ritz, needless to say, is always top notch, with a balanced spread between east and west, I opted for some beautifully presented, made to order eggs Benedicts. Upon checkout, we were given 2 beautiful travel luggage tags for our keepsake, with the bellman team again swiftly bringing all of my luggage from the room and load it into my ride, without me ever lifting a finger. With the abundant amount of care by the Ladies and Gentlemen of Ritz Pudong, I cannot recommend this property more!

I would like to express my appreciation to all the team of Ritz Carlton hotel Shanghai. It was absolutely amazing stay because of employees and their efforts. Thanks to club lounge employees, they are so friendly, so helpful. But sometimes they should pay more attention to guests tables because sometimes you are missing some cutlery or having dirty plates. Also please change coffee, now coffee is so average but in the club lounge it’s supposed to be much better like in a nice coffee shop. Most thanks to Eddie Yang, he helped a lot. I would also like to say big thanks to Joey zhang, who helped me with all issues that I had in a room. Brilliant job. Bravo. Thanks to Sindy, my housekeeper, amazing lady who did her job in a brilliant way and so attentively. Guys who meet guests at the entrance and help with the luggage are so professional. Nice job. I would make food varieties in the club lounge better. Comparing to other ritz clubs this one is not as good as others. You can make it better. Overall, it was brilliant experience. Thanks! 🤩

안녕하세요, 전 10월 초 상하이에 8일 정도 머물렀어요. 만4살 8살 두 아이를 동반한 여행이었기에 아이들의 편의를 고려한 호텔을 선택했고, 처음 4일 동안을 페어몬트에서 지내다가 남은 기간을 리츠칼튼 푸동에서 보냈습니다. 그리고 리뷰를 남기게 된 가장 큰 이유는, Jerry Zhu 클럽 수퍼바이저 분께서 저희 응급상황에 동반해주시고 통역을 해주시는 건 물론 본인의 자녀로 저희 아들을 등록해주셔서 응급실 대기를 줄이기 위해 땀흘리는 모습을 보았기 때문입니다. 정말 감사하고, 저희 아들의 은인으로 잊을수가 없습니다. 단 한번도 힘든 얼굴하지 않으시고 너무 친절해서 중국에 대한 인상이 바뀔 정도였습니다. - 저희 가족 모두 중국어를 잘 하지 못해요 - 저희 둘째가 선천성 질환이 있어요(범혈구 감소증) - 갑작스런 응급상황(크랩요리를 먹다가 속껍질이 목에 걸려 통증발생)에 근처 응급실에 가서 진료를 볼 수 있겠냐 확인만 하고 싶다고 요청했어요(번역기 사용) - 그 순간 클럽 라운지 층 직원분이 매니저를 호출해서 응급의료진이 스트레쳐를 가지고 객실로 오셨어요(물론 아이는 품에서 있길 원해서 아빠가 안았어요) - 구급차량으로 인근에 상해아동병원 응급실로 바로 이동했어요(얼커, 얼퉁 유명병원) - 더 중요한 건 !!!!!!!!!! 클럽 수퍼바이저 분이 구급차량에 동반해서 응급실에 본인 아들로 접수해시죽시고, 대기 시간 절감과 통역을 대신해주셨어요. - 이후 인근 병원 총 3곳을 다니는데 4-5시간을 함께 디디 불러 병원을 다녀주셨어요. - 다행히 ct까지 촬영한 아이는 마지막 병원에서 식도내시경을 위한 마취를 고민하던 중, 식도까지 내려간 음식물이 위로 넘어가서 위급 상황을 넘겼습니다. - 위치; 무더운 날씨에 ifc 몰과 연결된 점, 상하이 뮤지엄, 동방명주 등 가고 싶었던 곳이 가까워서, 두 아이가 힘들지 않게 다닐 수 있어 매우 만족했습니다. - 수영장 뷰; 따뜻한 온수풀이 있어서 어린아이들이 매일 가고 싶어했습니다. - 객실 상황; 파노라마 스위트 뷰는 기회가 된다면 꼭 추천해드리고 싶은 룸타입입니다. 동방명주가 보이는 뷰가 아니여도 탁트인 거실 공간과 침실의 쾌적함(숨겨진 드레스룸까지), 야경이 환상적인 욕조와 욕실은 4인 가족이 머물기에 최적화된 공간이었습니다. Unforgettable Stay Thanks to Exceptional Staff – A Lifesaving Experience The reason I’m writing this review is not just because of the luxurious facilities, but because of one extraordinary staff member: Mr. Jerry Zhu, Club Lounge Supervisor. He truly became a lifesaver for our family during a sudden emergency and changed the way we view hospitality — and even China itself. Emergency Situation: - Our younger son has a congenital condition (pancytopenia), and one evening he experienced severe throat pain after eating crab. - We only wanted to check if an emergency room nearby could treat him — using a translator app, we asked staff at the Club Lounge. - Within minutes, staff had called the manager, and emergency medical personnel arrived at our room with a stretcher. While our son wanted to be held, his father carried him, and we were taken by ambulance to a nearby children’s hospital. - What we will never forget is that Jerry Zhu personally accompanied us in the ambulance, registered our son under his own name to shorten the wait time, and acted as our translator every step of the way. - He spent 4–5 hours with us, visiting three different hospitals, even calling DiDi rides and making sure everything was taken care of. - Thankfully, after a CT scan and an almost-scheduled endoscopy, the food eventually passed from his esophagus to his stomach, and the crisis was resolved. - We had no Chinese language ability, but thanks to Jerry, we were never alone. He didn’t once show fatigue or frustration — only kindness, professionalism, and care. We will never forget what he did for our son and our family. He is truly our hero. About the Hotel Itself: * Location: Excellent. Directly connected to IFC Mall, and very close to Shanghai Tower, the Oriental Pearl Tower, and other attractions. This made exploring with young children much easier. * Swimming Pool: The warm indoor pool with a stunning view became a daily highlight for our kids. * Room: The Panoramic Suite was outstanding — not only for its spacious layout and comfort, but also the beautiful bathroom with a view. Though we didn’t have a direct view of the Oriental Pearl, the open space, hidden dressing room, and night views made it ideal for a family of four. We have stayed at many five-star hotels around the world, but what we experienced here went far beyond hospitality. It was human kindness at its finest. Thank you, Jerry Zhu. We are forever grateful.

Don't miss the flair rooftop bar on the 58th floor where you can overview the bund and the television tower. I received a room upgrade to a river view suite which was very luxurious and comfortable. Pool and gym with a hot tub and sauna room were also fantastic. Breakfast was very brilliant with a variety of local and western cuisines.

Had an afternoon tea in the bar. The service here by Natalia was incredible as was the exceptional view here also. Would highly recommend anyone to come here for some snack snacks or just to relax.
